Nina M. Danks, 83, of South Charleston died Friday, May 26, 2000 at home after a long illness.

She was retired from Insurance Service Office in Charleston. A member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, South Charleston. A member of the Rebecca Lodge, South Charleston, and lifelong resident of Kanawha county.

She is survived by: 2 Daughters: Pamela Snodgrass of Hurricane, WV Carla Wade of St. Albans, WV 2 Grandchildren Carla Huffman Luke Wade 2 Great Grandchildren: Kearsten & Dylan Huffman.

Private Graveside Service will be be held Tuesday, May 30, 2000 at 3:30 PM at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, South Charleston with Dr. John Allen officiating. There will be no visitation. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek is in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Spencer Bailey, 92 of Charleston, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at Valley Health Center, South Charleston, after a short illness.

She was a native of Charleston and a member of the Nazarene church.

She is survived by: 4 Daughters: Frances Childress of Charleston, WV; Doris DeBord of Charleston, WV; Wanda Vanhoose of Charleston, WV; Debbie Shaffer of Charleston, WV; 1 Brother: Clyde Spencer of Charleston, WV; 13 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at the First Church of Nazarene, South Charleston, Friday April 28, 2000 at 7:15pm with Rev. Merlin Provance & Rev. Morton Estep officiating.  Committal service will be at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston on Saturday at 11:00am.

Martha Jane Eskew

Martha Jane Eskew, 99, of South Charleston, died Friday, April 21, 2000 at the home of her daughter, Janice Whitlock with whom she made her home after a long illness.

She was a Christian, a homemaker, a lifelong resident ofKanawha County and was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Eskew, Sr., one daughter and two sons.

38 Grandchildren; 68 Great Grandchildren; 28 Great Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Terry Hogue officiating. Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. He was a former painter for Dale Raynes, was retired from Lester Raines, was a member ofthe Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church, and was a life long resident of Lincoln County.

He was a retired carpenter from FMC, a charter member of FMC Sportsmans Club, a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church located in South Charleston and was a member of ODD Fellows of Spring Hill.

Ruby Jewell May Cooper, 102 of St. Albans, formerly of Griffithsville, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000 at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, St. Albans after a long illness.

She was a homemaker a member of the Eden Baptist Church, Griffithsville and was preceded in death by her son Ross May.

She is survived by her: Sister: Marvene Mason of Barboursville, WV; Niece: Betty Collins of St. Albans, WV.

“S.B.” Samuel Bryan Matthews, 80 of South Charleston, died Monday, April 10, 2000 at home after a long illness.

He was retired from F.M.C. with 43 years of service as a turbine repairman, a member and deacon of the Bethel Baptist Church, South Charleston, was a former native of Lincoln County, lived in South Charleston for 53 years, and was a Navy veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his: 2 Sons: Samuel Quentin Matthews of South Charleston, WV; Steven Larrel Matthews of St. Albans, WV; 3 Daughters: Paula Jo King of South Charleston, WV; Vonda Blanche Turner of South Chazleston, WV; Marla Rae Goff of Orlando, FL; 1 Brother; John Matthews of Sod, WV; 2 Sisters: Garnet Vickers of Alkol, WV; Waynoka Kelley of Yawkey, WV; 9 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren.
