Ray A. Pauley, 80, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, died Tuesday at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Pauley was born in Lincoln County, West Virginia and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1995 moving from Mount Gilead, Ohio. He had also lived in Cleveland, Ohio from 1955 1981.
He worked as a tow motor operator for the General Motors/Fisher Body, Euclid Avenue, Cleveland for 25 years retiring in 1981. He was a motorman for Detroit Mines and Y & O Mines, Boone County, West Virginia in the 1940’s and early 1950’s. He was a member of United Auto Workers local 1045, a life member of the National Rifle Association, a VIP (Volunteer in Parks) for the Ohio State Parks after retiring in 1981. He was an avid camper, hunter, fisherman and he also loved to travel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Pauley, his parents, Raymond E. and Bessie J. Pauley, and his three sisters, Emmajean May, Catherine King and Mildred Bias.

Pauley of North Ridgeville, OH: 1 Step-Son: Edward Acord of Cleveland, OH; 4 Step-Daughters: Diana Morris of Sheffield Lake, OH; Wanda Jones of Sheffield Lake, OH; Jackie Smith of Columbus, OH; Phyllis Anderson of Mount Juliet, TN; 1 Brother: Edsel Pauley of Woodford, VA; 4 Grandchildren: David; Steven; Tammy; and Brian Pauley; 9 Step-Grandchildren 10 Great Grandchildren
Services will be held at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Monday, October 4, 1999 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Michael Greider officiating. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle. Friends may call on Sunday, October 3, 1999 from 2 to 4 PM and from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
