 Terry Michael Hill, 61, of Alum Creek passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bradford and Cledith Thompson Hill.

He was a self employed contractor, and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge #71 AF & AM, Charleston Scottish Rite Bodies, Beni Kedem Shrine, Beni Kedem Highlanders and Royal order of the Jesters.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Yvonne Ingram Hill; daughter, Johnna (Brian) Fowler of Alum Creek; sons, Brad (Rebekah) of Alkol and Danny (Christina) of St. Albans. Grandchildren Hayden, Gretchen, Braylea, Macy, Dylan, Jaycob and granddaughter, Hannah, due to be born in June.

Funeral service will be 4:00 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Cemetery, Alkol with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge #71 AF & AM and also Military Rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. Family and friends will gather two hours prior at the funeral home.

Charles Frank Adkins

 Charles Frank Adkins, 96, of Alkol went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Frank was born March 23, 1916 to his parents, Charlie and Della Adkins Harless. He was also preceded in death by his children’s mother, Hazel Smith Adkins; son, Delain Adkins; wives, Beulah Cummings Adkins, Sarah Richmond Adkins; and step-father, Tom Harless;

He was a member of New Bethel Church in Spurlocksville; he enjoyed his family, farming and singing in the choir. He resided in Frank Fork Holler 96 years and now he’s singing in the heavenly choir.

Frank was one of the oldest WWII Army Veterans in Lincoln County. He was a military policeman and served in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign; a member of the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. He retired from Saul Construction and also worked at Black’s Grocery in Danville.

He is survived by two sons, Charles (Linda) and Dwight (Peggy) Adkins; daughter, Brenda Smith Adkins all of Alkol. Twelve grandchildren Dawn (Virgil) White, Fawn (Robert) Ellis, Shawn (Mary) Adkins, Craig and Jason Adkins; Beth, Kristin, Bryant (Tammy) and Kevin (Carol) Smith; Scotty, Stacy and Jenny Adkins. Twenty great grandchildren: Kasey and Tyler White, Haylie and Maggie Ellis, Elijah and Paislee, Adkins; Brady, Brittany, Zach, Kobe and Savannah Smith; Shanelle, Clarissa, Caleb and Devin Adkins; Brittany Cooper and Kimberly Rawsley; Nathan, Jenna and Tristen, and one great great grandson on the way. He will be missed and loved by a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor K. D. Bragg officiating. Burial will follow in Bear Branch Cemetery

with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Rhonda Loftis Wood

Rhonda Loftis Wood, 46, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 20, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness.

She was a Christian, and retired from CAMC and Toys R Us.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Benny Huffman.

Rhonda is survived by her husband, Steve; sons, Nicholas and Stephen; mother, Pauletta Huffman and biological father, “Daddy” Frank Loftis; sisters, Jody Hensley, Brandon Nikki (Eric) Smith and Shannan Huffman (John Donegan III); and many other close family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Nancy Naylor.

A memorial service will be held 5:00 pm Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastors Frank Chapman and Gary Riley officiating. Family and friends will gather two hours prior to the service.

Shirley Mae Dunlap

Shirley Mae Dunlap, 81, of Pine Grove went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 20, 2012 at Hospice West after a short illness.

She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; son, Paul; and parents Ishmael and Margaret Ruby.

She is survived by her daughter, Erin (Doug) Stephens; sons, Matt and Tim Dunlap; sister Helen (Dollie) Ruby; grandchildren: Adam and Shannon Stephens, Craig, Paula and Chrissy Dunlap; great grandchildren, Kaleb and Camron Cooper and Aurea Stephens.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Old Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle. Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Helen Marie Debord

 Helen Marie DeBord, 83, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord in heaven for a grand reunion on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 5:20 a.m. She was a Christian homemaker who loved her family, friends and all the neighborhood kids.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Rondol F. DeBord; her grandparents, who raised her, Elza and James Holland; mother, Grova Holland Diehl; and father, Lawrence Vail Southall.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra DeBord Holstein of Alum Creek; sons, David W. (Genevia) DeBord of Parkersburg and Rondol L. (Beverly) DeBord of South Charleston. Sisters, Ellen Wirth of Rand; Mae Kincaid of Munroe Fall, OH; and brother, Gale Diehl of Letart. Grandchildren: Gina DeBord Fields, Stacy (Donald) Thaxton, Ronnie (Tracie) DeBord, Chrissy Holstein, Benjamin (Lori) DeBord, Tara (Wes) Pickens, and Charley (Heather) DeBord. Great Grandchildren, Haley Thaxton, Gracie DeBord, Katie Fields, Malachi DeBord, Faith Pickens, Eden DeBord, Ronnie Chase DeBord, Abby Pickens, Niya DeBord, Benson DeBord and Brody DeBord; her grand-pup, Be’be’ and her baby Mei Ling; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Monday, April 23, 2012 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Larry Young officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Family and friends will gather from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Glenn A. Barnett

Glenn A. (PaPa) Barnett, 72, of Nitro went home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 13, 2012 at Hospice West, South Charleston.

He is survived by three sons: Pete, Rick and Jeff (Carla) Barnett.

Six grandchildren: Brandon, Blake, Briana, Little Rick, Chad and Troy

Three great grandchildren: Braden, Trinity and Hayden.

There will be no services, Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek is in care of arrangements.
