Robert L. “Bob” Gawthrop, 84, of Yawkey went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston.

He was a retired engineer with Consolidated Gas Supply of Clarksburg with 45 1/2 years of service. He attended Business College in Clarksburg. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge No. 71. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Gawthrop.

He is survived by: His wife: Edith; 2 Sons: David Ray Gawthrop of Ashland, KY; Stephen Robert Gawthrop of Hamlin, WV; Daughter: Becky Walker of Scott Depot, WV; Daughter-in-law: Lois Gawthrop of Nitro, WV; 10 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; 3 Step-Grandchildren.

Services will beheld at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Oshel Bell and Pastor Henry Estep officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Hamlin, with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by the Griffithsville Lodge No. 71. Friends may call Friday, February 1, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Mearl M. McCallister, 82 of Sod, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness.

She was a homemaker, member of the McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Lincoln County.

She is survived by her: 5 Daughters: Carol Blackburn Dooley of Charleston; Diana Chandler of Alum Creek; Linda Settle and Jewell McClure both of Yawkey; Kathy Judge of Alum Creek; 2 Sons: Roger McCallister of Sissonville; David McCallister of Sod; 1 Sister: Pearl Pauley of Sod; 1 Brother: Charles Kidd of South Charleston; Caregiver: Genevieve Redman; 12 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church on Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 11:00 AM with Meddie Ray Dunlap, Pastor Roe Smith and Pastor Oshel Bell officiating. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle. Friends may call on Friday, January 25, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Charlene A. Henderson, 34 of Griffithsville, died Friday, January 18, 2002 at CAMC General Division after a short illness.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her: Husband: Danny Smith; 2 Sons: Danny Richazd Smith, Jr. at home; Golden Wayne Smith at home; 1 Daughter: Crystal Dawn Smith at home; Father: Wayne Henderson of Long Beach, MS.

There will be a private service for the family. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of the arrangements.

Edward Lee Blake, Sr., 68 of South Charleston, died Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at home.

He was a retired mechanic for Rish Equipment Co., St. Albans with 40 plus years of service.

He is survived by his: Wife: Irene, 2 Sons: Ed Jr. of St. Albans; Mike of Calhoun, GA; 2 Sisters: Phyllis Rucker of Elkview; Glenna “Cookie” Muthard of Tip City, OH; 3 Brothers: Clark Blake of TX; Wesley Blake of Charleston; Jimmy Blake of AK; 4 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, January 19, 2002 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Interment will be held in Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, South Charleston. Friends may call on Friday, January 18, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
