Elma C. Jones, 84, ofAlum Creek, died Sunday, January 30, 2000 at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston after a long illness.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew C. Jones and her youngest daughter, Hazel Packtor, both of Alum Creek.

She is survived by her: 3 Sons: Clyde Jones of West Haven, CT; Roy Jones of Alum Creek, W V; Shelby Jones of North Guilford, CT; 1 Daughter: Helen Slater of Clinton, CT; 16 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Wednesday, February 2, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will beheld in Mid-Ferrell Cemetery, Bandytown. Friends may call on Tuesday, February 1, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Gene Marcellus Showen, 73, of Ashland, Kentucky, formerly of South Charleston, West Virginia and Seth, West Virginia, died Thursday, January 27, 2000 at the home of his son Marc Gregory Showen, Sr. after a long illness.

He was a member of Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church, Alum Creek, West Virginia, a retired Freight Tariff and Rate Specialist at Union Carbide, Charleston, a former employee of the B&O and C&0 Railroads, Danville, a Navy Veteran of WWII and a graduate of Sherman High School.

He is survived by his: Wife: Mildred Elizabeth Kinder Showen; Additional Son: Jeffrey Brian of Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany; 1 Brother: Donald Showen of Cross Lanes, WV; 4 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church, Alum Creek, on Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Cyphers officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek. Friends may call on Monday, January 31, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek and one hour prior to the services at the church.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Council Gap Church of Christ and the last few yeazs she attended the South Charleston Church of Christ.

Pauley of South Chazleston, WV; 6 Daughters: Olive Irene Blake of Calhoun, GA; Anna Mae Meikle of Houston, TX; Vesta Grinstead of Charleston, WV; Janine Dansereau of Jacksonville, FL; Sharon Ballazd of Cramerton, NC; Connie Ripley of Cashemere, WA; 1 Step-Son: Richard Johnson of Cleveland, OH; 1 Brother: Warren Coburn of Las Vegas, NV; 1 Sister: Wilma Hyllestad of Street, MD; 20 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; 5 Great Great Grandchildren; 9 Step Grandchildren; 21 Step Great Grandchildren; 1 Step Great Great Granddaughter.

Services will beheld at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Monday, January 31, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Minister Bob Kessinger and Minister Louis Watts officiating. Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call on Sunday, January 30, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Annwise Elizabeth Robertson Daubenspeck, 79, of Union City, Georgia died Monday, January 24, 2000 at Christian City Convalescent Center, Union City, Georgia after a long illness.

She was a homemaker and a member of the North Fayette United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia.

She is survived by her: Husband: Albert W. Daubenspeck; 1 Daughter and Son-in-law: Rosalie E. and Daniel Mahoney of Carmichael, CA; 1 Son and Daughter-in-law: Albert W. and Cynthia Daubenspeck, III of Carrollton, GA; 3 Grandchildren 2 Brothers: Floyd Robertson, Jr. of Charleston, W V; Ulysses G. Robertson of Portsmouth, VA; 3 Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Friday, January 28, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Arnold B. Cook officiating. Burial will be held in Mountain View Cemetery, Charleston. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. James R. Cooper

James R. Cooper, 74, of Charleston died Saturday, January 22, 2000, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a short illness.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, a W WII Army Veteran and was called the miracle man because he was the only survivor out of 254 men in a battle in Germany.
