I will be forever thankful for the Lord bringing Larry into my life 6 years ago. The Lord brought him to me in a time of need. He was a dear friend that will never be forgotten. It was Larry’s love for Jesus Christ that brought us together by the Grace of God. It was a sad morning for me today as I learned of Larry’s passing. He must’ve sent me a letter right before he passed. It was a bulletin from the Alum Creek Church of Christ. I was going to send him a book, and instead of finding his address, I found his obituary. What began as tears of sadness, have turned into tears of joy as I know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Larry never stopped encouraging me in my faith, which is a testament to Larry’s life and what he truly treasured in life. I have no doubt that he is in a mansion in Heaven, prepared for him by God at this very moment. My condolences to Darlene and the family during this difficult time and I want you to know how blessed and thankful I am for having the honor and privilege of knowing such a great man. I will never forget you Larry!
I worked with Larry at Andrew Jackson JHS/Middle School from 1990-2004,having many excellent experiences and conversations and going to Wallops Island several times with 8th graders to the Marine Science consortium. He was always committed to his students through the many activities in which he had them involved, such as building and mounting bird and bat boxes in the woods behind the school. I enjoyed and appreciated the times we had together as colleagues and friends.
My condolences are with his family at this sad time, but I know you are celebrating his life.God bless.

To Darlene Tackett & family. Mr Tackett or Larry as I called him of late was an extraordinary man. He taught both my brother & I at WD. He was an amazing teacher always taking the time for those of us who didn’t grasp science so quickly. He wanted us to learn. He wanted it to be as interesting to us as it was to him. My brother Steve had stopped & visited with you both from what he’s told me. Mr Tackett & became friends on fb. He never failed to send me the church services & choir. He always sent me something interesting during the week & I am going to miss that. I was going to come to the services to pay my respects. But due to some personal issues I won’t be able to make it. Mr Larry Tackett will always be a teacher & human being that I will remember. He made that imprint. My prayers & condolences to you & your family.
To the Tackett Family,
We both would like to send our deepest condolences and prayers for the passing of Larry. My wife and I both worked with Larry at Andrew Jackson Middle. He and I both taught 8th Grade Science next to each other for years. Although we weren’t on the same team, we shared lots of ideas, materials and activities. We also did a lot of field trips with our students- even some overnights. Through the years we became friends. I knew that day when I rushed him to the hospital our working relationship would change, but I wish now I visited or called him more.
My wife and I actually brought him up in conversation this past week. She encouraged me to call him, I wish I listened to her. We were both very fond of Larry. He was charming, smart as a “Tack”, happy go lucky, funny and oh so chatty; he told the best stories!
We are both so very sorry for your loss. He was a great guy and we both feel very privileged to have shared a part of our lives with him.
Sending love and prayers,
David & Kirstene Jones

A friend, brother in Christ, and cousin. Will miss him. God bless the family.
Darlene and family,
We are so very sorry to hear of Larry’s passing from this earth, but please be comforted to know he is now resting in peace in the sweet arms of our Lord and Savior in Paradise.
He will surely be missed at Church either sitting in a chair by the door to greet us all coming in, or sitting up front in the first pew during and participating in the worship services.
He was a friendly face that always met us with a smile, but most of all, an example of a Great, Christian Man that let his Light Shine for Christ!
We have God’s promise, that we will all have a Sweet Reunion with Larry and all of our Loved Ones in Christ, one Blessed
Glorious Day!
May God Bless and Comfort his family and friends as only our Precious Lord can Do during this difficult time and in the future.
Love,
Marshall& Sandy Pauley
