Daniel Lee “Danny” Siers, 68, of South Charleston, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston after a long illness.

Danny was a former auto mechanic working at several dealerships in the Kanawha Valley and was an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Emma Metz Siers.

Danny is survived by his wife of 21 years, Theresa; sisters, Sandra (Leo) Murphy and Sue Calvert; nieces and nephews, Paul (Beth), Janie, David, Tracy (Jessie); great nieces and nephews, Caroline, Emma, Peter, Lilia, and Stella.

Private services will be held.

Janet L. Price, 84, of Yawkey, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 27, 2022, at home with her family by her side.

Janet was a longtime, active member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, Yawkey. She retired as head bank teller from WesBanco in South Hills where she was known as “Mrs. Yawkey”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Vilcie Stephens Saul; brothers, Dorsey Saul and Tommy Saul, Jr.; sister, Anna Holstein.

Janet is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Edward L. Price; daughters, Teresa (Don) Prather of Houston, TX and Sandra (Jack) Stowers of Yawkey; grandchildren, Sarah (Jeremy) McClung and Emily (Jason) Wright; great grandchildren, Addison and Avery Wright, Emma and Konor McClung; her dog, Pepper; and several nieces and nephews who she loved.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Beech Grove Baptist Church, Yawkey with Pastors Johnny Helvey and K.D. Bragg officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Paul W. Hudson

Feb. 3, 1933 – June 22, 2022

Paul met his Savior face to face on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at home surrounded by his wife and daughters.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Eufa Lore Hudson and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Swann.

Paul retired from Union Carbide in 1986 and he was a faithful Christian currently attending Oakwood Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife of 70+ years, Doris, four daughters, Paulette (Delbert) Huffman, Gail (Randy) Palmer, Denise (Craig) Neely and Sheila (Randy) Huffman.  He is also survived by his sisters, Esther Long, Annabelle Monk, Naomi McCracken, Rachel Kinder and Sharon McClure, sister-in-law, Brenda Hudson, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Oakwood Baptist Church, 855 Oakwood Road, Charleston, WV 25314, with Pastor David Moutz officiating. Burial will follow at French Cemetery, Charleston.

There will be no visitation.

Stella Mae “Sis” Thurston, 69, of Sumerco went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Stella was a member of God’s Tabernacle in St. Albans. She loved gospel music and preparing her own Bible study lessons. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and sister. Stella was a former employee of NAPA in Dunbar and held many jobs, including Dunbar Fas Chek and a window factory in North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Freda Dye Young; and brother Tommy Wright.

Stella is survived by son, David Thurston; granddaughter, Makayla Thurston; sister, Mary Holdren; brother, Eddie “Bubby” Wright; nephew, Robbie Holdren; and her toy Yorkie, Zoey.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Sumerco with Pastor Lee Darnell officiating.

Gary Carlleal Linville, age 68, born August 2, 1953, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 10, 2022.

Gary graduated from Duval High School in 1971 and served his country in the United States Army. He was a kind soul who loved his family and friends. Gary loved spending time on the river and caring for all living creatures.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlleal and Vada Linville.

He is survived by his two children, Gari Ann Boggs and Bradley Linville; grandchildren, Miranda Jarrell, Joshua, Adam, Bryce, and Lilly Boggs; great granddaughter, Isabella Jarrell; his brother, Greg Linville and sisters, Maryian Sloan and Angela Jones. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2022, at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey with his son, Bradley Linville speaking.

Glen Allen Matheny, 84 of Tornado, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 12, 2022. He was born in 1938 to Lester & Minnie Matheny of Davis Creek, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Melba Matheny and Jean Smith and one brother Charles of New Port Ritchie, FL.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Susan Matheny, sister, Joyce (Don) Petry of Kenna, WV, brothers, Jack of Kenna, WV and Darrell (Margie) of Rock Hill, SC, daughter, Carol (David ) Bowen of Ashland, KY, sons, David (Karen) Matheny of Bay Minette, AL, Allen (Teresa) Matheny of Jacksonville, FL, and Rob (Teresa) of South Charleston, WV. He is also survived by his step-daughters, Elizabeth and Tanya, Tornado, WV.

Glen was a beloved Father, and Popal to ten grandchildren and Great-Popal to six great-grandchildren.

Glen graduated from South Charleston High School and later was drafted into the Army and served his country in Vietnam. He wore many hats during his lifetime, Licensed Plumber, Volunteer Fireman at Davis Creek Fire Department, and he retired from AEP’s John Amos Plant.

He was an avid fisherman during his life and thoroughly enjoyed a good round of golf with his buddies, KG, Cecil and McCoy.

He believed in the saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved the Lord. His message to his family was that he loved each and everyone of them and hoped to see them all in Heaven one day.

Service will be 2:00pm Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Chaplain Pete Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston, with military rites. Family & friends will gather one hour prior to the service.

Linda Ruth Harper, known by those who love her as Mom, Grandma, and Mamoo, age 78, passed away in Jacksonville, FL, on Monday, June 6, 2022. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Linda was born on May 27, 1944, in Nellis, WV, to parents, Sidney and Mearl Allen.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Darrell “Skip” Harper and Johnnie Jones, three sisters and four brothers.

Linda is survived by her two sons, Steve (Kathy) Harper of Green Cove Springs, FL, and Tim Harper of Goose Creek, SC, daughter, Susan Riffe of New Braunfels, TX, grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Justin, Zachary, Katelyn, Sophia, Lillian and one great-grandson, sisters, Pearl (John) Joyce and Imogene Fisher, brother, Ronald (Sharon) Allen and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 10:00am Wednesday, June 15, 2022 with Pastor Craig Gillenwater officiating at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, WV. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Charleston, WV.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mark Anthony Lanham, 63, of Saint Albans, WV, crossed the River to rest in the arms of Jesus on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a brave battle with a short illness following complications from surgery. 

Waiting on the shores of Heaven to welcome him Home were his mother, Betty Lanham; father, Eugene Lanham; sister, Beverly McGhee; brother, Greg Lanham; stepmother, Irene Lanham; father and mother-in-law, Rev. Eldon and Ella Fitzwater; best friends, George McCune and Mousie Smithson;and countless other family, friends, and lives he had touched along the way. 

Left behind to cherish the memories and long for their Heavenly reunion are his wife of almost 37 years, Jackie Fitzwater Lanham; son, Matthew (Alexandra) Lanham; brother, Steve (Becky) Lanham; his niece who was like his sister, Lisa McGhee; stepbrother, Gary (Sandy) Hess; and numerous family and friends including his brothers and sisters-in-law and his nieces and nephews that he loved like his own children. 

He was a small business owner in the Kanawha Valley for over 40 years having owned and operated Adept Cleaning Agency as well as several other business ventures over the years. Most recently, he could be found at the Somewhere in Time Antique Mall in Nitro, WV, where he sold antiques with his wife Jackie for the last several years. 

Most importantly, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,and served Him faithfully for over 40 years as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and soul winner. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Jefferson, WV. Those who knew him remember him as one of the kindest and most generous peopleyou could ever hope to encounter. He would do anything to share the Love of God to help those in need, whether it was a meal, a tank of gas, a place to stay, or just a kind word and a prayer. This world will truly not be as bright without his smiling face, contagious laugh, quick wit, and loving heart in it. 

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, WV, with his son, USAF Chaplain, Captain Matthew Lanham, officiating. Cemetery service will follow immediately after at Graceland Memorial Park chapel, South Charleston, WV. Family and friends may gather from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 for visitation at the funeral home. 

Special thanks to the incredible medical teams and staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital and Thomas Memorial Hospital who provided him the best care possible, ensuring he was comfortable and cared for until his battle was fought. Patricia Ann Wolfe Jordan (Teresa) gained her heavenly wings Friday, June 3, 2022, with her family beside her after a courageous two-year battle with ovarian cancer. Teresa was beautiful inside and out and her laughter was contagious. Any time you were around her, she would make you laugh.

Teresa was born on January 22, 1967, in Charleston and lived with her sister Angie in Drawdy.

Teresa was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Wanda and George “Blackeye” Wolfe, her oldest brother George L Wolfe Jr, and her beloved golden retriever Max.

Teresa is survived by her loving family, sister, Sue (Randy) Mooney of Dunmore, brother, Roger (Tanya) Wolfe of Dunmore, sister, Debi (Randell) Kinder of Ashford, sister, Angie Wolfe (Teresa Jarrell) of Drawdy, sister-in-law, Libby Wolfe of Nellis and a whole host of nieces, great nieces and nephews and great nephews.

Teresa was a 1985 graduate of Sherman High School. Teresa loved to go to Florida in the winter with her sister Sue and brother Roger. She loved being outdoors working in her flower beds, fishing at Smith Mountain Lake, ATV riding or hiking in Kanawha State Forest.

A celebration of Teresa’s life will be 6:00 pm, Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Randell Kinder officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank all the home hospice workers, especially Melanie and Libby, that have taken care of her for the last eight months and the nurses at the Hubbard Hospice House this past week.

Dorla Dean Sigler Carr, 90, of St. Albans, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at home.

Dorla was a caregiver of everyone and loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Virginia Shears Sigler; brother Sonny Sigler.

Dorla is survived by her husband, Joseph Carr; 5 children, Barbara and Tony Galante, Ron and Gigi Carr, Dan and Kim Carr, Alan Carr, Kim Miller; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren with 1 on the way; brothers, David (Marlene) Sigler, Pete (Jan) Sigler, Terry (Patty) Sigler, Bruce (Betty) Sigler; sisters, Jean Hundley, Mary Beth Goodwin, Sue (Levi) Mayes, Barbara (Dwayne) Childers; and many nieces nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside service will be 1:00 pm., Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.
