Ernie Ray Justice, Sr., 70, of Sumerco, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 30, 2003 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was retired from Hobet Mining Co. at Julian, a member of Eden Baptist Church, Griffithsville a Korean waz veteran and was preceded in death by two sons Dwayne and Darrell.

He is survived by his: Wife: Loleta; 4 Daughters: Mona Light and Fiance, Aazon Hyer of Dunkirk, IN; Norma Loveless and husband, Dwayne of Albany, IN; Teresa Wilkerson and husband, Mazk of Hartford City, IN; Melissa Loftis and husband, Troy of Sumerco, W V; 2 Sons: Ernie Justice, Jr. and wife, Paula of McCorkle, WV; Mark Justice of Hartford City, IN; 4 Sisters: Mable Loftis and Artina Pauley both of Sumerco, WV; Vada Pauley of Parkersburg, WV; Margie McCallister of Alabama; 4 Brothers: Boyd, Kessell and Okie Justice all of Sumerco, WV; Londis Justice of Griffithsville, WV; 13 Grandchildren 4 Great Grandchildren and a host of friends.

Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Mike Kordusky and Pastor Rexal Cooper officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the Bennie Padilla VFW Post 4768 will be in Midkiff Cemetery at Sumerco. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Kathryn Elizabeth Schmidt

Kathryn Elizabeth Schmidt, 17, of South Charleston died Wednesday, October, 29, 2003 as a result of injuries sustained in a single car accident near Willow Drive at Ruth.

She was a senior honor student at George Washington High School, member of Young Life and Maranatha Fellowship in St. Albans, American Saddlebred Horse Association and The USA Equestrian Association. She was an accomplished horse rider and animal lover.

Kathryn was survived by her: Parents: Dr. John H. and Mary Alice Schmidt; Brother: John Tristan Schmidt; Great Grandmother: Marie Whitlock; Grandfather: Marvin Roberts and wife, Rosemary Great Grandfather: Freeman Bell; Uncle: Mark Roberts and his wife, Mary Ann and daughter Maria; Aunts and Uncles: John Paul Schmidt and wife, Jan; Jim Schmidt and wife, Faith; Tom and Sara, Georgi and husband, Myles Still and Bill Schmidt and many cousins; Left behind: Boyfriend and lifelong best friend, Josh Bowers and many loving friends.

Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November 2, 2003 at the Maranatha Fellowship with Pastors James and Jamie Wright officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Memorial Park South Charleston. Cornia F. Loftis Tribble

Cornia F. Loftis Tribble, 60, of Charleston, went to her heavenly home on Friday, October 24, 2003 at CAMC Memorial Division following a short illness. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Cornia was a 1961 graduate of Duval High School and was self-employed. She was a member of the Summit Community Church, Sumerco and sang with the Summit Ridge Trio. She also attended Bible Center Church, Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Angie Williams; her first husband, Jack Loftis, and her sister, Della Arbutus Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; son, Scott Loftis of Sod; brother, John Williams and his wife, Jean; four sisters, Nellie McClure of Sod, Ruth Cornell of Woodville, Carrie Johnson and her husband, Charles Emmett of Vineland, NJ, and Ann Egnor and her husband, Carl of Sumerco, and many family and friends who truly adored her.

Services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Chuck Adkins and Pastor Dwight McClure officiating. Burial will be in the Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Institute for Cancer Research at 1759 R. St. NW, Washington, DC.

She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Webb and her companion, Rudy Abshire.

She was a homemaker and attended Trinity Independent Baptist Church, Ruth.

She is survived by her: 2 Daughters: Dinah Cornell of Hernshaw; Patty Honaker of Whitesville; 3 Sisters: Jane Blevens of Cleveland, OH; Mary Bragg of Cleveland, OH; Margaret Hill of South Charleston; 6 Grandchildren 9 Great Grandchildren.

Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Trinity Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Pauley officiating. Entombment will be at Graceland Memorial Park South Charleston. Robert Maynard Taylor, 78, of Alum Creek, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at CAMC Memorial Division after a long illness.

He was a retired educator, a member of Lewisburg Masonic Lodge AF&AM #42, a W WII veteran, and Lewisburg BPOE Elks Lodge 1758.

He is survived by his brother, James B. Taylor of Los Altos, California.

A graveside service will be held in Montgomery Memorial Park, London on Friday, October 17, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of the arrangements.

Gertie Mae Wade

Gertie Mae Wade, 89, of St. Albans died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Carma Lee Schaible, surrounded by her family.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

In addition to Mrs. Schaible, she is survived by a daughter, Anna Lou Wood of St. Albans; three sons, Bennie Dale Wade of South Charleston, Richard Paul Wade and William Eugene Wade both of St. Albans; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 17, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Rev. Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Sansom Cemetery, Griffithsville. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Patricia M. Holtsclaw, 61, of Dunbaz, died Saturday October 11, 2003 at CAMC General Division as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Thursday in Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susie.

Pat was a 23-year employee of the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration where she served as the director of inventory and accounting.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lisa Holtsclaw of Elkview; Scott and Charlesetta Holtsclaw of Nicholasville, KY; two sisters, Kathy Carr of Dunbar and Sandra O’Neal of Mobile, AL; two brothers, Ernest H. Hannah of Ashland, KY and John Hannah of Diamond, W V; three grandchildren, Katianna, Morgan and Zachary.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at the Moms Memorial United Methodist Church, 4615 MacCorkle Avenue SE, Charleston with Pastor Chuck Pullins officiating. in lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to MADD at 511 East John Carpenter Freeway, Suite 700, Irving, TX (Phone 800- 438-6233). Freeda E. Smith

Freeda E. Smith, 79, of St. Albans went home to be with her Lord Saturday, October 11, 2003 after a long illness.

She was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, St. Albans and was formerly the service manager at Town and Country Bowling Lanes, Nitro.

She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Hedrick of St. Albans, and Rosemary Wayman of Victoria, Texas; one son, Edmond E. Gibson of Portage, Indiana; one step daughter, Debbie Smith of Indiana; one step-son, Carl Smith Jr. of Tornado; 1 sister, Rosa Anderson of Charleston; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Fred Connery officiating. Burial will be in Midkiff Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home.
