Andrew Travis Sampson, 34, of South Charleston, WV, went home Friday, November 22, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Sampson; grandparents, Henry “Tiny” Smith and Bill and Betty Sampson; and cousin, Mark “Bubby” Smith.

Travis is survived by his children, Devin James Sampson and Izabella Sampson and their mother Jessica Tyson; step-children, Emily Dotson and Bradley Dotson; father, Richard Sampson; mother and step-father, Vanessa and James Starcher; grandmother, Lorine Smith; brother, Derek Sampson; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. 

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Isaiah Hatfield officiating.  Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Cemetery in Alum Creek.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sharon Sue Brogan

Sharon Sue Brogan, 64, of Alum Creek, WV, went home Friday, November 22, 2019 at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert O`Dell and Myrtle Gay Alford Brogan; son, Kristopher Vincent Wheeler; brother, Danny Brogan; and sister, Linda Brogan,

Sue is survived by brothers, Ezra “Blackie” Brogan and Timothy W. Brogan; grandchildren, Kacie Wheeler and Kristopher Joseph Wheeler; great grandchildren, Owen and Olivia Taylor; and former husband Teddy Wheeler.

There are no services planned at this time.

Sally Lou Justice

Sally Lou Justice, 79 of Sumerco, WV,  went home to the Lord on Saturday November 23, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.

She was a Christian and a was a member of Touching Jesus Fellowship.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Justice; her parents, Vestal and Martha Sappenfield Gamble; daughter, Ruthetta Justice; granddaughter, Savannah Lovejoy; and sister, Eunice Prine. 

She is survived by her children; Curtis (Gail) Justice of  Danville, Kevin (Deborah) Justice of Sissonville, Diana Lovejoy of Sumerco, and Greg Justice of Sumerco; brother,Tom Sappenfield; grandchildren; Randy (Tiffany) Justice, Kenneth Abbott, Dakota Lovejoy, Auston Hughes, Amanda  Pauley, and Curtis (Nikki) Banks; great grandchildren, Easton and Kyler  Justice, Alexis and MacKenzie Pauley, Andrew and Alexander Banks,

Funeral service will be held at  2:00 p.m. Tuesday,  November, 26, 2019, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Dwight McClure officiating.  Burial will be at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Betsy Ann Johnson

Betsy Ann Johnson, 79, of Emmons Road, Alum Creek, went home to the Lord Thursday, November 12 2019 at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Johnson; parents, Homer and Dorothy Graley Payne; son, Billy Payne; sisters, Sherry, Selma and Yvonne; and brother, Johnny Payne.

Betsy is survived by her sister, Charlotte Lee; grandson, Shane Johnson; and great granddaughter, Reagen.

A memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Emmons Church of God with Pastor Michael Graley officiating.   Burial will follow at the Gillispie Cemetery in Emmons.

Virginia “Ginny” Rowsey

Virginia (Ginny) I. Rowsey, 90, of Milton, WV, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 8, 2019.  She was the wife of Richard Rowsey who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Max and Carl Breedlove as well as one sister, Maurine McKimmey. 

Ginny is survived by three children: Beverly Dalu &  husband Frank, Michael Rowsey & wife Susan, and Joan Ianiero & husband Bill, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  She was one of 7 children born to the late Bertie & Lavie Breedlove and is also survived by sisters, Sybil Edwards, JoAnn Stephens, and brother Jerry Breedlove.

She was a passionate reader, gardener, and crafter.  Ginny’s love for God and His Word was evidenced throughout her whole life.   

Services will be  1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019, with Pastor Nathan Jude officiating at White Chapel Mausoleum in Barboursville, followed by a meal at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Ona, WV.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Huntington, 1101 6th Ave., Huntington, WV 25701 or her church, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 523 Little Fudges Creek, Ona, WV 25545.

Paul E. Minton

Paul E. Minton, of St. Albans, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019, one day before his 82nd birthday.

He was born on November 8, 1937 in Rochester, Michigan but was raised in Dexter, Missouri. He was a chemical engineer, a 1959 graduate of the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. He worked his entire 41-year career at Union Carbide Corporation where he was a widely respected expert in heat transfer. He taught graduate courses at Morris Harvey College and was the author of a textbook on evaporation technologies.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ruth Shipman; and by his brothers, John and Roy.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Mary Belle, and his two daughters, Crystal Mashayekhi and Cheryl Brunetti; sons-in-law, Mansour Mashayekhi and John Brunetti; grandchildren, Luke and Sandy Finley, Anthony and Marisa Brunetti, Andrea Mashayekhi, Jack Brunetti and Daniel Mashayekhi. He is also survived by his sisters, Jean Silver, Merideth Gray and Carol Rainey and husband Paul; and brother, Charles Shipman and wife Margaret, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Paul was a highly intelligent man of great integrity. He was a steadfast provider for his family who set a strong example for his children and grandchildren. He was a prolific reader and letter-writer, a supporter of many worthy causes and an avid fan of his grandchildrens’ sports, especially baseball. He was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church for many years.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, at Cunningham Memorial Park Upper Chapel in St. Albans with Pastor Jason Robbins and Pastor Jim Compton officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to an organization close to your heart or to Highlawn Baptist Church.

Lawrence E. Vickers

Lawrence E. Vickers, 82, of Alkol, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Danville, WV.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Lorraine Roberts Vickers, sisters, Yvonne (Ruben) Dotson and Denna (Bernie) Adkins, and brothers, Duane, Roger, Victor and Ronald Vickers.

He is survived by his sister, Linda (Arnold) Lambert of Quinland, WV, and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Ronnie Linville officiating.  Burial will follow at Stone-Vickers Cemetery, Alkol.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.

Charles Brady “Chuck” Pauley, 59, of Yawkey, WV, went home Sunday, November 3, 2019.

He was a 30 year employee of Hobet Mining and was a member of Griffithsville Masonic Lodge #71.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, John Glen Pauley; grandparents, Charlie and Dollie Smith and Brady and Gladys Pauley.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carolyn; mother, Betty Pauley; sons, Charles “Charlie” Pauley (Jennifer) and Matthew Pauley; brothers, John (Ann), Davy (Denise) and Mike (Terri) Pauley; and grandchildren, Haylie (Sweetness) and Makayla (Precious) Pauley.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 Thursday, November 7, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. at Lively Cemetery, Sod, with Pastor Roe Smith officiating.
