Allen Keith McCormick, 68, of Sumerco passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Keith was a graduate of Duval High School, worked for Rol Manufacturing Company in Orlando, FL and was a Pony Express driver for many years. He loved the outdoors, vegetable and flower gardening, and was especially known for his dahlias.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Verda Mae Tackett McCormick; brother, Kevin Brent McCormick; and brother-in-law, Harley Roberts.

Keith is survived by brothers, Arthur Wayne McCormick of Sumerco, Eric (Pam) McCormick of Buckhannon, WV, Raymond McCormick of Orlando, FL, Mark A. McCormick of Elkview, WV; sisters, Carletha Roberts of Alkol, Remona (Curtis) Cobb of Alum Creek, Kathy (Paul) Green of Alum Creek; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Sumerco Church of God with Pastor Richard McCallister officiating.

Tony Bell

Tony Bell, 82, of Alum Creek went to Heaven on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Bell; parents, Freeman and Ruth Bell; and brother, Terry Bell.

He was a 1961 graduate of Washington District High School, proudly served in the United States Army, and retired with over 40 years of service from Jeffords Corporation. He was an avid outdoorsman and family meant everything to him.

Tony is survived by daughter, Andrea (Jeff) Hightower; son, Anthony (Teresa) Bell; grandson Codye (Ashley) Bell; sisters, Joyce Ann (Eric) McAllister and Karen Gray; brother, Tim Bell and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Tommy Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Garden, Cross Lanes. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Michael Joseph Muskera

Michael Joseph Muskera, 49, of Bluefield, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at home.

Michael was a 1991 graduate of Bluefield High School where he was a member of the Bluefield Marching Band and played the lead role in the Bluefield High School performance of South Pacific.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jon-Michael Joseph Muskera; and parents, David & Virginia Tanner Muskera.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Katie Huffman and husband Ben; sister Melinda Muskera; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Claire “Ellie” Huffman.

A celebration of life will be 11:00 am, Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Oakwood Baptist Church, 855 Oakwood Road, Charleston, WV 25312 with Pastor Kyle Huffman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to offset funeral costs to Curry Funeral Home, PO Box 9, Alum Creek, WV 25003.

Ricky Allen Walls

Ricky Allen Walls, 70, of Morrisvale, WV, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 24, 2022, at home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Cathy, and parents, Lonzo and Macel Linville Walls, half-brother, Billy Walls and half-sister, Betty Hager.

He was a graduate of the class of 1969 of Scott High School, a retired blaster for Hobet Mining and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of Maple Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Ricky is survived by his two daughters, Jaime (Denny) Stone, and Jodie (Brandon) Smith, brother, Ronnie (Rose) Walls and sister, Brenda (Jackie) Collins. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Marlee, Landon & Roman Stone. Ricky had a great love for sports and thoroughly enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s games with Jackie.

Service will be 2:00pm Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Homer Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens. Family & friends will gather one hour prior to the service.

Amanda Michelle Willis

Amanda Michelle Willis, 26, of St. Albans, died suddenly at Thomas Memorial Hospital-ER on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Willis.

Amanda was a graduate of South Charleston High School.

She is survived by her father, James Willis, sons, Jameson and Everett,
brother, Jacob Willis of Dunbar and grandparents, Kenneth & Patricia Kidd of South Charleston.

Service will be 4:00pm Monday, April 25, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Amanda will be laid to rest beside her mother in Forks of Coal
Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions toward funeral expenses.

Chad Michael Pauley

Chad Michael Pauley, 42, of St. Albans, WV, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at home. He was preceded in death by his father, Butch Pauley.

He was an auto detailer.

Chad is survived by his wife, Amie, mother, Rhonda Pauley, step-children, Aaron Moore and McKayla Moore, sister, Jamie Turner (Steve Blake), and nieces, Michelle Pauley (Zane) and Alexis Stover (Zach).

Amy M. Huffman

On April 18, 2022, Heaven gained a beautiful soul and we lost one of our most precious treasures. Amy M. Huffman, 49, of Garretts Bend passed away of a sudden illness.

She was born July 5, 1972, in Cleveland, OH to Huey (Mickey) and Marilyn Miller Cummings of Sumerco, WV. She was a 1990 graduate of Duval High School.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her two daughters, Kayla Huffman (Mark McCormick) of Yawkey, WV and Kierra Huffman (Nick Cooper) of Wilmington, NC; sister, Micki Resko (Brian Dudley) of Elyria, OH; brother, Huey “H.D.” Cummings (Kim Harris) of Yawkey, WV; nephew, Jacob Resko of Elyria, OH; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, April 22, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Rick Cooper officiating. Burial and unique urns will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

William K. (Bill) Wilson

William K. (Bill) Wilson, 74, of Tornado, WV, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Kenneth & Iona Wilson, brothers, Ted and Bruce, son, Bill Jr., daughter, Traci and granddaughter, Carrie.

Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly, daughter, Jacki Johnson (Jeff) of Rochester, IN, brothers, Jack (Terri) of Petersburg, WV, Terry of Milton, WV, sister, Pam Lawson of Cross Lanes, WV, Rose Pauley (Steve) of Scott Depot, WV, daughter-in-law, Sirena of Chapmanville, WV, sister-in-law, Belinda Killius of Columbia, SC, niece, Pamela Champe who he considered a daughter of Blythwood, SC and several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Bill was an accomplished local musician and played for many years in and around the Kanawha Valley. He was an exceptional singing talent and was respected by other local musicians.

He worked at Passero & Wilson for a few years before starting his own accounting business where he was greatly respected by everyone.

Service will be 2:00pm Monday, April 18, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service.

Reverend Kenneth D. Atkins, 88, a resident of Seabrook, NH for a short time and a longtime resident of Charleston, WV went home to Jesus and his spouse of 70 years, Alice, on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 4:20 pm.

He was the last of four siblings. He leaves six children; Penny (Jerry) McCallister and Timothy (Susan) Atkins, both of Charleston, WV, Sandra, (Warren) Whipple of Bloomingrose, WV, James (Thao) Atkins of Akron, OH, Joseph (Victoria) Atkins of Harrisville, RI, Deborah (Kurt) Groder of Seabrook, NH. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild and two great grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Hubert Wilmer Rabel

Hubert Wilmer Rabel, 94, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 10, 2022, at CAMC General Hospital surrounded by his family.

Hubert was a Christian for 77 years, most of which he faithfully served at Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a kettleman for Harris Brothers Roofing (who depends for repairs from Wegner Roofing & Solar company) for 30 years and a member of Roofers Local 185 for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Maude Toney Rabel; wives, Violet and Betty; son, Richard; siblings, Charles Rabel and Barbara Green.

Hubert is survived by his sons, Lane (Susan), Ronnie (Teresa), Terry (Hazel) and Chuck (Anita); siblings, Betty (Charles) Curry Hartwell and Danny (Libby) Rabel; 11 grandchildren; 8, great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Clyde Gwin officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
