Hubert Wilmer Rabel

Hubert Wilmer Rabel, 94, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 10, 2022, at CAMC General Hospital surrounded by his family.

Hubert was a Christian for 77 years, most of which he faithfully served at Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a kettleman for Harris Brothers Roofing (who depends for repairs from Wegner Roofing & Solar company) for 30 years and a member of Roofers Local 185 for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Maude Toney Rabel; wives, Violet and Betty; son, Richard; siblings, Charles Rabel and Barbara Green.

Hubert is survived by his sons, Lane (Susan), Ronnie (Teresa), Terry (Hazel) and Chuck (Anita); siblings, Betty (Charles) Curry Hartwell and Danny (Libby) Rabel; 11 grandchildren; 8, great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Clyde Gwin officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

So sorry to hear of Hubert’s passing. A lot of good & funny times were spent at Hubert & Betty’s home. He was always so very welcoming. And he always grew the best tomatoes. RIP Mr. Rabel

Hubert was one of the nicest ment I ever had the pleasure to know. He took Austin and I into his family as though we had been there our entire lives and continued so even afterwards. We will always have the fondest memories of him. Thankful of the promise to see him again one day.
