Sean “Michael” Sebastian, 8 of Sod, died Tuesday, October 31, 2000 after being hit by a car while trick or treating.

He attended 3rd grade and was an A honor roll student at Griffithsville Elementary and he attended Joes Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his: Mother and Stepfather: Susan and Charles Beam of Sod, WV; Father and Stepmother: Sean and Brenda Sebastian of Spencer, WV; 3 Sisters: Jennifer Chapman of South Charleston, W V; Allison Chapman of South Charleston, WV; Rosa Faye Sebastian of Spencer, WV; 1 Brother: Charles Anthony Beam of Sod, WV; Maternal Grandparents: Jim and Phyllis McKinney of Sod, WV; Aunt: Darrell Tudor of Sod, WV; Uncle: Mike McKinney of Sod, WV.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, November 4, 2000 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Carl Lester Bell officiating. Burial will beheld in the Pauley Family Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call on Friday, November 3, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Audrey Priestley Biernesser, 85 of Fayetteville, died Monday, October 30, 2000 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley after a long illness.

She was homemaker.

John “Big John” Graley, III, 44 of Sod, died Saturday, October 28, 2000 at Dicks Creek in Boone County from an ATV accident.
He was a graduate of G. W. High School, a former coal miner for AEP and a former member of UMW, was a truck driver for Dana Transport in Nitro with 8 years of service, a member of the Nitro Moose and a former baseball coach for Alum Creek Little League.

He is survived by his: Wife: Penny; 3 Daughters: Gail Elswick of Alum Creek, WV; Joy Breedlove of Alum Creek, W V; Polly Lambert of Sod, WV; 2 Sons: John “L.J.” Breedlove of Alum Creek, WV; Andy Lambert of Sod, WV; 2 Brothers: Charles Smith of St. Albans, WV; Ronald Graley of St. Albans, WV; 1 Sister: Carla Bower of Charleston,WV; 1 Granddaughter: Taylor Elswick.

Virginia Elizabeth Akers, 83 of South Charleston, died Sunday, October 15, 2000 at Valley Health Center, South Charleston after a long illness.

She was a retired buyer from G. C. Murphy, was baptized into the membership of the Briar Creek Baptist Church in 1930 and attended the Cathedral of Prayer Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Akers.

She is survived by her: 1 Daughter: Christina DeBord of South Charleston, WV; 2 Brothers: Harold “Gene” Cantley of Spring Hill, WV; Robert “Bob” Cantley of Charleston, WV; 2 Sisters: Edith Eskew of South Charleston, WV; Mable Wilson of FL; 2 Grandsons: Steven Paul and Mark Gregory 4 Great Grandchildren: Bryan, Kateland, Brieana, and Annie.

He was a retired truck driver for McJunkin Corporation, Nitro with 30 years service. He was a member of the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge 71 AF & AM ,was very active in community service including Duval High School athletic program.
