Raelynn and Madelynn Hughes, identical twin daughters of Hailie Hughes and Jacob Abbott were stillborn, Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Kimberly Ann Barker, 55, of Charleston passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
Kimberly was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Peggy Barker; sister, Janet Barker.
She is survived by brothers, Jimmy Barker, John Barker, and David Barker; cousin/sister, Hope Spaulding; aunts, Chris Reid and Ches Bauer; several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2021, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Kimberly was an animal lover, especially her beloved dog, Fluffy and cat Shadow.

Patricia Ellen “Pattie” Strickland, 60, of Charleston, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Harley and Hilda Falls.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jonathan; daughters, Hope Marie Taylor and Gessica Harper; son, Roy Wayne Harper; ten grandchildren; and many other children and grandchildren that she helped raise like her own.
In keeping with her wishes, Patricia will be cremated and there will be no services.
Harley Howard Clark born November 5, 1942, went home to be with his Heavenly Father and to reunite with his wife and son on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.
Born to his loving parents, Harley Clark Sr. and Stella Young.
Preceded in death, is the love of his life, Alice Portlee Clark, and his loving son, Howard Tracy Clark. One thing about Howard – from those that knew him, knew how much he loved his family.
Those that ask what true love is like – saw it in Howard and Portlee. It was a love story for the ages. Beginning on April 20, 1963. Every day we would hear “Portee and Hired”.
One thing Portlee and Howard did was love with their entire being. When it came to their grandkids, he showed love beyond belief. He showed, Mandy, Lisa, Shyann, Christy, Eric, and Sierra how to fish, how to shoot, and how to laugh. And those kids will forever remember being called Potlickers.
He truly loved his daughter Evelyn “Sissy” Clark so very much. And what a blessing she was to him. Especially the care she showed him til the very end.
Howard also had a special bond with his son Howard Tracy – his namesake. They would watch westerns together and sure did treasure those moment with his son.
Howard also showed his adopted daughter Pamela Carson so much love and nicknaming her “Big Lou” when she was pregnant with their first grandchild which he adoringly called her even after! As well as a special love for Sierra’s mother Stacy Porter.
And he treasured and loved his dear sisters Bessie, Mary and Shirley and Shirley’s wonderful husband Kessil.
Howard also adored his relationships with his dear friend Ross Gillenwater, other son “Biggen” Bobby Clark, Jr and his good buddy Austin McGraw who was like a grandson to him.
It was Howard’s wish to be cremated and a celebration of his life was held Saturday, November 27, 2021, at his sister’s house.
Glenn Keith Parsons, 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Born on January 17, 1926, in Olcott, WV, he was a lifelong resident of Charleston. Glenn was known throughout the community as a person of integrity, service, and a long-standing and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Charleston.
He is predeceased by his grandfather, Kellis Frazier (Cap) Griffith, his mother, Iris Griffith Parsons Wood, his father, Harvey H. Parsons, brothers, Dean Parsons, Kelly Parsons and sister, Vivian Parsons Maraman.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary Parsons to whom he was married for 72 years, his son, Jack Parsons (Leland Derryberry) of Asheville, NC. and his daughter, Vicki Parsons Duling (Thomas) of Springfield, VA. as well as two grandchildren, Sarah Parsons Duling Ferringer, Thomas Scott Duling and great grandson, Jordan William Ferringer.
Glenn Parsons graduated from Washington District High School in 1943 and then immediately joined the United States Marine Corps. He served from 1943-1946 during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and China. He returned to the Charleston area and began his 38-year career with the C & P Telephone Company in Charleston where he served as the manager for telephone security for the entire state of West Virginia and a section of western Virginia. One of his unique experiences was supervising the communications for the secret underground bunker located at the Greenbrier Resort. Upon retirement from the telephone company, he ran his own private detective agency in Charleston for several years. Glenn was a member of the Masonic Lodge 159, Dunbar and a thirty second degree member of the Scottish Rite and Beni Kedem Shrine Charleston.
Glenn’s life of volunteer service began as a young man; coaching little league teams, serving on PTA boards, and delivering meals to the needy. He served as a Scoutmaster where he influenced and guided the young men of Troup 5 at First Presbyterian Church for over ten years. He received many honors in scouting including the Silver Beaver Award. He loved people and demonstrated a strong sense of honesty, integrity, and dedication to family and friends throughout his life.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the First Presbyterian Church, 16 Leon Sullivan Way, Charleston, WV with Reverend Doctor William C. Myers officiating. The family will receive friends directly following the service in the Ruffner Room. A graveside ceremony to include military honors will be held at the Forks of Coal Memorial Park at 3:00 PM. (Located near Curry Funeral Home)

Guy C. Porter, Jr., 94, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. He was born December, 1926 in Charleston and lived his whole life in the house his father built in 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents G. Callie Porter and Abby Keely Porter and first wife Betty Lee West Porter. He is survived by his wife Carmel Barber Porter, Children Jim (Beth) Porter of Charleston, Shari (Bruce) Shull of Gig Harbor, WA and David Porter of Charleston. Stepchildren Don (Debbie) Barber of Stuart, FL, Charles (Beth) Barber of Piedmont, SC, Susan (Doug) Perry of Pearland, TX and John (Gerry) Barber of Panama City, FL, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He graduated from Charleston High School and Denison University in Granville, OH. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944 as a private and was honorably discharged in 1946, having served in the Philippine Islands during World War II.
Guy founded Porter Properties, Inc and was engaged in land development, residential construction and property management for over 50 years. He was a Broker and a Certified Property Manager and served as President of the Charleston Board of Realtors and the Kanawha Valley Board of Realtors.
He was a lifelong member of Charleston Baptist Temple, serving many years on the property and finance committees among others and was currently serving as Trustee. He was Chairman of the Construction Committee during the addition of the Activities Building.
He was a 73 year member of Kanawha Lodge #20 AF&AM. He also was a member of Scottish Rite of Charleston, Tyrian Chapter #13, Commandery #4, Beni Kedem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Past President of Beni Kedem Oriental Band, Tiskelwah Chapter #45 Order of the Eastern Star, and Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem serving as Supreme Second Wise Man in 1998-99.
He enjoyed traveling extensively and was Past President of the West Virginia Unit of the Airstream Club where he was a member for 40 years. He particularly enjoyed traveling to his second home, a log cabin in Sevierville, TN.
Funeral Service officiated by Dr. Jim Hewitt will be held Saturday November 20 at 2:00 PM at the Charleston Baptist Temple, 209 Morris Street, Charleston with visitation two hours beforehand. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston with Masonic rites by Kanawha Lodge #20.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charleston Baptist Temple Property Board.
David Lee “Mudsuck” Wright, 85 of Hurricane, WV passed away on November 14, 2021 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston after a short illness.
David Lee attended Young’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired body shop employee from Lester Raines and had worked at other body shops in the Charleston area.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Dent Wright and his son Peter “Petie” Wright.
He is survived by his wife Jeannie Wright of Hurricane; sons, Ronnie (Vera) Wright of North Carolina and Brett (Suzi) Wright of South Charleston; 8 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Allen Sowards officiating. Burial will be in Fox Hill Cemetery, South Charleston. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Pearl Audrey Starcher, 74, of St. Albans, WV went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Yvonne Jenkins, husband, Delmer, daughter, Alice Mae, grandsons, Dae Dae & Dusty, brothers, Michael and Bernard Jenkins, and daughter-in-law, Janet Jenkins.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Wayne) Harper, James Jenkins, David (Sissy) Starcher and Kim, whom she raised. She is also survived by her brother, Carl Jenkins (Betty), 6 grandchildren, James (Christine) Jenkins, Jr., April (Ted) Koontz, Gary “Bub” Harper, Jr., Amanda Jenkins, Ashley, and Brooke Starcher, 6 great-grandchildren, Brent, Breanna, Kayla, and Damyon Jenkins, Arthur and Andrew Koontz and Brookie, 2 great-great-grandchildren, Millie and Brayzia.
Pearl was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family above all and really enjoyed having them all for family dinners.
Service will be 11:00am Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Curry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cobb Cemetery, Island Creek.

Sherry Lynn Jones, 64, of Alum Creek, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at CAMC – Memorial Division, Charleston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Thelma Tackett Starcher, husband, Ralph Jones, and brother, Michael Starcher.
She is survivied by her daughter, Jessica (Robert) Owen, son, Jeremy (Amber Hughes) Jones, grandchildren, Miranda, Jace, Maxwell, Nevaeh, Dakota and Tanner. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Thornton, brother, Rick (Deloris) Starcher, and several nieces and nephews.
Sherry was a teacher’s aid in Lincoln County and also a former EKG Tech at St. Francis hospital for many years. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be 10:00am Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Tornado, WV, with Craig Gillenwater officiating.
Debra Dawn Mullins McCormick, 61, of Griffithsville, closed her eyes and walked into heaven on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Hubbard Hospice House West after a 23-year battle with multiple sclerosis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Ray and Shirley Mullins.
Debbie graduated from Duval High School in 1978 and enjoyed a three-decade career in both the public and private sectors, including the Governor’s Office and the WV Democratic Party. She attended Amy Baptist Church, now Yawkey Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Jason) Griffith; sister, Karen (Brian) Graley; niece, Lauren (Chris) Boner; nephew, Jacob Hall; great-nephews, Sam and Keaton Boner; former husband, Mark McCormick; lifelong friend, Jerri Nibert; and several uncles, aunts, and many other family and friends whom she loved dearly.
A private graveside service was held for the family at Orchard Hills Memorial Gardens, Yawkey, with Pastor Darrell Searls officiating. Donations may be made in Debbie’s honor to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W., Charleston, WV 25387.
The family also wishes to express their deepest gratitude to each and every caregiver who provided support for Debbie (and her beloved dog, Desi), making it possible for her to spend her final years at home.
