Deborah Lynn Vanhoose, born December 4, 1954, joined her Heavenly throng on Friday, September 3, 2021, ending the suffering from lung cancer.
The eldest of four children of the union of James B. and Wanda J. (Bailey) Vanhoose. Deb was the leader of the group, always planning her siblings’ activities in their childhood days. Her education started in elementary school in Fairmont and continued through middle school in New Martinsville then to John Adams and George Washington High School. She performed in several extra-curricular activities and was a majorette at JA & GW. She furthered her education at WVU. Deb took her learning seriously and maintained a 4.0 GPA through her college training. She once gave a professor a difficult time who gave her a B+ until he changed it to an A. She was very protective of her grades. She worked for Union Carbide for 20 years before returning to the profession she loved and earned a Master of Psychology from WVSU.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Brad and is survived by her parents; her sister, Sue; brother, Steve; and most importantly her favorite, Deborah’s nieces and nephews, Lanique, Grant, Taylor, Olivia, Maggie, and Ryan who will miss her dearly.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston, and a reception afterwards with the family.
I pray I don’t upset anyone, I’m sure you don’t know me, & to Ms. Deb’s family…I’m a complete stranger. However Ms. Deb was my therapist for about 2-3 months while I was going through a very difficult time. I felt so at ease, comfortable, & as though I’d known her forever, which helped me open up & allow her to help me heal. She taught me so much & she never, not one time judged me, & even if she was extremely busy & had no time to chat…She would make time. I’m forever thankful, grateful. & beyond blessed to have known her for a short time, technically…Regardless of time, what Ms. Deb has done for me, taught me, & shown me will last an eternity!!
May God Rest her Beautiful Soul, Comfort her family, friends, & all loved ones, & know her work, skill, & genuine compassion lives on through people you don’t even know, like me.
Thank You for allowing me to share. God Bless Each of You!
So sorry to hear of Debbie’s passing. My condolences to Jim, Wanda, Sue, Steve and the rest of her family. You are in my prayers. May she be at peace. Steve Dodds.
I am so sorry to hear this. I know her nieces and nephews will miss her tremendously
Deborah was such an amazing woman. You can tell by the way her nieces and nephews loved her. I am so thankful that she was family to me. Love you Deborah. Tell Brad we love him too.
I’m so sorry about Debbie. We were such good friends but eventually lost contact after I moved away. Peace be with her family.
