I met Mr. Roberts thru his son Mark at the Dunbar Fire Department where Mark and I worked. He would stop by and see Mark and would stay a while and visit. Mr. Robert’s was a nice guy and we talked about everything you could think of. My sincere prayers and sympathies go out to the family at his passing.
I delivered Meals on Wheels to Mr. Roberts the last couple of years. Early on, on nice days, he was usually sitting on his porch and would walk down to the gate to receive his meal. I’d ask how he was doing and he’d always say something like, “Not bad for an old man. I’m 91.” I always enjoyed our brief chats. He seemed like a fine man. RIP, sir.
