Dean Eskew

Dean Eskew, 53 of Alum Creek, went home to be the Lord, Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at home after a long illness.

He was a coal miner.

He is survived by his: 3 Daughters: Pricilla Eskew of Elkview; Kristy Eskew of Garretts Bend; Hollie Eskew of Elkview; 1 Son: Andrew Eskew of Alum Creek; 3 Sisters: Clara Davis of GA; Evelyn Eskew of Rand; 2 Brothers: Larry Eskew of Kanawha City; Bill Eskew of Pennville, IN; 6 Grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Christian Outreach Church, Alum Creek, on Friday, March 8, 2002 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ken Pauley officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768 will be held in Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek. Friends may call on Thursday, March 7, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM at the church. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in Gaze of arrangements.

Marcella Adkins

Marcella Adkins, 76 of Alkol, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2002 at CAMC Memorial Division after a short illness.

She was a Christian, a member of the Sycamore Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Paul. Marcella was a very special lady and loved by many.

She was survived by her: Son and his wife: Larry and Diana Adkins of Alkol; Daughter and her husband: Anne and John Pauley of Alkol; 3 Brothers: Cline Adkins of Hamlin; Cecil Adkins of Alkol; Creed Adkins of Charleston; 3 Grandchildren: Shannon Adkins, Sheree Whitman, and Ashlie Pauley; 2 Great Grandchildren: Ali Jo Whitman and Cody Adkins.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Thursday, March 7, 2002 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Darrell Searls and Pastor Dwight McClure officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Sharon Young, 34, of Cross Lanes, died Monday, March 4, 2002 at CAMC General Division after a long illness. She was born Apri120, 1967 in Charleston, West Virginia.

Sharon was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She attended Abney Street Church of God, St. Albans.

She is survived by her: Husband: Clyde B. Young, III; 4 Sons: Robert Bryan, Clyde “Ben” IV, Jonathan Adam, and Thomas James all at home; Father: Earl Pauley of Poca; Mother: Janie Marcum of Poca; 5 Sisters: Patricia Shawver of Nitro; Teresa Cochran of Poca; Donna Goodwin of Poca; Kellie Pauley of Charleston; Kimberly Pauley of Charleston; Grandmother: Evelyn Marcum;

Services will be held at the Abney Street Church of God, St. Albans, on Friday, March 8, 2002 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jack Lawrence officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, March 7, 2002 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the church. Burial will be held in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in care of the arrangements. Kelly K. Bragg

Kelley K. Bragg, 65 of Sod, died Sunday, March 3, 2002 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston after a long battle with cancer.

He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator for Roberts &Sons in Lincoln county.

He is survived by his: Daughter and Son-in-law: Kim and Ronnie Saul of Poca; Son: Kelley K. Bragg, II of Dunbar; 4 Brothers: Alan Bragg of Bartow, FL; Calvin Bragg of South Charleston; Carl Bragg of Julian; Ted Bragg of Sod; 3 Sisters: Marine Neal of Sod; Sylvia Klocke of Duluth, GA; Charlotte Ann Bragg of Branchland;
2 Grandchildren: Nikki Bragg and Cody Saul; 16 Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be held in Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to: Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawha Drive, Charleston, West Virginia 25311.

John D. McCormick

John D. McCormick, 80, of Sumerco, died Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at the VA Medical Center, Salisbury, North Carolina after a long illness.

He was a retired boiler maker and a member of the McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his: Wife: Evelyn; 1 Daughter and Son-in-law: Delilah and Ron Scott of Charlotte, NC; 1 Son and Daughter-in-law: Pastor J. D. and Pam McCormick of Wheeling; 6 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at the McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church on Friday, March 1, 2002 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Roe Smith and Pastor Ron Scott officiating. Burial will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle. Friends may call on Thursday, February 28, 2002 from’? to 9 PM at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Robert Ross

Robert Ross, 78, of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania and formerly of Yawkey, West Virginia died at 3:30 AM Sunday, February 24, 2002 at Hanover Hospital, Hanover, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Lucille (Cornett) Ross to whom he was married for 56 years.

A private service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, West Virginia.  Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, with full military rites performed by the Benny Padillia VFW Post 4768 of Alum Creek. Dunbar Lodge No. 159 will also conduct masonic services.

Mr. Ross was born January 12, 1924, in Logan, West Virginia. He was a son of the late Robert Ross and Della (Garrett) Ross Rymer. He was a graduate of Duval High School Class of 1942. He was a retired pipe fitter having worked in construction for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union No. 521 in Huntington, West Virginia for 38 years. He was an United States Army veteran of World War II serving in England and France. He was a member of Private Allen J. Beck, Jr., Spring Grove Post #5265 VFW and Dunbar Lodge #159 A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Ross, is also survived by two sons, Ronnie E. Ross and Robert Ross, Jr. both of Spring Grove, PA; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Bett yMcComas of Alum Creek, WV; two brothers, William R. Rymer of Alum Creek, WV and Jimmy Rymer of Yawkey, WV.
Officiating at the service will be Pastor Oshel Bell of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. Memorial contributions maybe made to Dunbar Masonic Lodge #159, Dunbar, West Virginia.

Virginia Cooley

Virginia Cooley 91, of Charleston, died Saturday, February 23, 2001.

She was former district manager of Mangels Department Store in Charleston, attended the Kanawha City Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her father and mother, Carl Cooley, Sr. and Zora Griffith Cooley.

She is survived by her: Brother and his wife: Carl and Beulah Cooley of Charleston, WV; 1 Sister: Ann Long of Burlington, VT; Several Nieces and Nephews;

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Tuesday, February 26, 2001 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Michael Todorovich officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Glenn A. Paul

He was retired from Appalachian Electric Power Co. and was a Baptist.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Thursday, February 21, 2002 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Keith Torman officiating. Burial will be held at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 20, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

William Jack Frye

William Jack Frye, 70, of King, North Carolina died Friday, February 15, 2002 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston Salem, North Carolina after a long illness.
He was retired from Hastings Co. in King where he worked as an auto starter rebuilder and was an Army National Guard veteran.

He is survived by his: Wife: Amy Elizabeth “Betty” Frye; 1 Son: Jack Frye, Jr. of King, NC; 2 Brothers: Paul Frye of TN; Boyd Frye of WY; 1 Sister: Veraldean Eggleton of Houston, TX; Half Sister: Thelma Toney of VA.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 18, 2002 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor David McVey officiating. Burial will be in Midkiff Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
