Wilma Jean Hughes Jenkins, 50, of Spencer, formerly of Kimberly, went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2006 at the Hubbard Hospice House after a short battle with cancer.

She was born, April 19, 1956, and lived in Eskdale. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Josephine Hughes. She was a graduate of East Bank High School.

She is survived by herloving husband, Ernest Russell Jenkins; daughter, Leslie Jenkins; son, Brandon Jenkins all of Spencer; sisters, Joyce and husband, Leonard Hanshaw of Sissonville, Mary and husband, Roy Gayton of Dupont City; brothers, Howard Estep and wife, Gayle of Greenville, SC, Gary Dunlap and wife, Sharon of McCorkle, Richard Hughes and wife, Janet of Sneads Ferry, NC, Herman and wife, Linda Kay Hughes of Malden, Danny and wife, Lisa Hughes of Sod, Mike and wife, Christy Hughes of Marmet, Paul and wife, Lynn Hughes of Malden, Bobby and wife, Crystal of Chesapeake and numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, WV with Pastor Jackie Miller officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call from 7 to 9 Wednesday at the funeral home.

John R. DeKnight

John R. DeKnight, Jr. 64 of South Charleston went home to be with the Lord August 15, 2006 at home after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his son, John H. DeKnight; brother, Michael and parents, John and Betty DeKnight.

He was retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education, was an avid C. B. radio operator, went by the handles of JJ or Jersey Jay and was an Army Veteran.

John is survived by his wife: Arizona; four daughters, Katherine Means of Spring Hill, Elizabeth Bailey of Dunbar, Katrina Workman of Cross Lanes, and Diana Chapman of Salt Rock; three sons, Dennis Roberts of Charleston, Danny Kirk Roberts of Huntington and Ernest Lee Roberts of Charleston; brothers, Robert DeKnight, Clyde DeKnight and Charles DeKnight all of New Jersey and Phillip DeKnight of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Sina and Heidi both of New Jersey; 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 18, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Rev. Paris Workman officiating. Burial will be at the Orchard Hill Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Priscilla “Pat” McClure Holt, 62, of Whiteford, Maryland went home to be with the Lord, Friday, August 4, 2006 at Samaritan Hospice, Mount Holly, New Jersey after a long illness.

She attended the Delta Church of the Nazarene in Pennsylvania.

She is survived by:

2 Daughters: Angie Kraft of Bristol, Pennsylvania

Mother: Nellie Faye McClure

3 Brothers: Rev. Dwight McClure of Sumerco, Gilbert McClure of North Port, Florida, and Rev. Timothy McClure of Melbourne, Florida;
8 grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor’s Dwight and Tim McClure officiating. Burial will be held in Pauley Cemetery, Laurel Fork, Woodville. Friends may call on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Jackie L. Robinson, Sr., 65 of Charleston died Friday, July 28, 2006 at home after a short illness.

He was a retired ER Technician at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston with 40 years service. He was an avid hunter & fisherman and loved antique cars. He was a member of the Klassy Kruzers in Dunbar, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dennie & Beulah Robinson; first wife, Kathleen Robinson.

Harrison “Lee” Bays, 66, of Alum Creek went to heaven on Thursday, July 20, 2006.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ilona Jane Walton Bays.

He was the greatest Paw-paw to Tiffany, Cassy, Kaylla, Cagney, Katie & William.

He was also a fabulous Great Paw-paw to Jacob & Cameron.

Lee retired from Thomas Memorial Hospital after 40 years of service. He also was an avid fisherman. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

Virginia Kathleen Means, 94, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at home after a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce James Means, parents, Walter and Rona Wright
and three grandchildren, April Louise Dunlap, Ronnie Allen Means, Timothy Allen Sloan, 3 sisters & 3 brothers.

Virginia was a homemaker, a charter member of Holley Memorial Baptist Church on Spring Hill Mountain and a lifelong resident of Kanawha County.

She is survived by her seven daughters, Erma June Dunlap, Patricia May Hopkins, Violet Elizabeth Eads (Clifford), Linda Joyce Anselment, Rebecca Ann Bowen, Carolyn Sue Johnson (Stanley), Dora Darlene Gillerlain; three sons, Rev. Walter Means (Jane), Bruce Dallas Means (Sally) and Jerry Wayne Means; 41 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman and Rev. Lee Hamrick officiating. Burial will be held in B.J. Means Memorial Cemetery, Spring Hill Mountain. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 9 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Sam Henson and Kanawha Hospice for their wonderful care of mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kanawha Hospice, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.

He was a retired supervisor at Union Carbide Tech Center and a WWII Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Jimmy and Joey; daughter, Genie Weddington; four brothers, William, Wilmer, Donald and Alvin; one sister, Wanda Kaneday; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.
