Chris Smock, 65, of South Charleston passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
A lifelong resident of South Charleston, Chris had a passion for building model cars, camping and spending time with his family and friends. He was a fan of dirt track, NHRA and NASCAR racing. Chris also loved classic cars and oldies music.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn; son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Beth; beloved cat Sasquatch and grand-pup Molly. He will be sadly missed by family and numerous friends that were considered family.
Per his wishes, Chris will be cremated. A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date.
Marilyn, so very sorry to hear about Chris. Seems we lost touch after dad died. My dad loved Chris ‘ mom so much. He talked about how good she was to him when times were tough. Sometimes we don’t get a chance or take the time to let those who have meant so much know what a difference they made. Your family was special.
My Condolences,
I never met Chris personally, but enjoyed his work of Model Building he shared with fellow molders on the Randy Ayers board. His work inspires.
Bill
Thank You

Rick entertaining Chris while I got to play…boy, they could tell some stories. Chris was a wonderful kind soul and I am proud to say “I knew him, he was my friend”.

Marilyn and family, so sorry to hear about Chris, he left this world much too soon. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank You Denise. Yes he left way too soon and our hearts are broken.
It goes without saying that I always considered you and Chris two of my best friends. Chris always had a smile and a hug ready. We always had the biggest laughs when I asked had you been behaving. He always had a story to tell me about someone leaning on your car at a car show. I can hear him laughing now. He was a blessing to be around. I have never heard anyone say anything negative about him. He was a great man who I consider myself lucky to have known. So many years we have known each other. Prayers Marilyn for comfort and peace. We all loved Chris for being the wonderful person we came to know. Please, if I can be of help, let me know. I work close by and there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do. I will always smile when I think of him. Sending you loving thoughts.
Thanks Vickie He liked you too. Yes he liked to tell tales on me LOL He was a special person and my heart is broken. Love You

Chris and I became friends in ninth grade. We attended high school together. We saw each a few times over the years and at our 45th class reunion we had a chance to reminisce. Chris was always the same no matter how much time pasted. Chris was kind, funny, talkative, and always smiling. A true friend who will be missed. My Prayers and Condolences to Marilyn and family.
