Willie J. Bentley, 80, of Alkol died Thursday, November 28, 2002 at the Oakridge Center in Charleston after a long illness.

He was a retired coal miner and a W WII Air Force veteran. He was a Christian and attended several churches.

He is survived by: 4 Sisters: Mary Siler of Kessler Edith Harvey of Mann Louella Green of Uneeda Helen Bentley of Jamestown, PA; Sister-in-law and caregiver: Elsie Legg of Charleston; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, December 1, 2002 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Kenneth Dunlap and Pastor Roe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens at Yawkey. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Susan Anne Hughes, 49, of Sod died at home Thursday, November 28, 2002 after a long illness.

She was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by: 1 Daughter: Andrea Hughes of Sod, WV; 2 Sons: Domonic Nacarato and Joseph Nacarato both of Cleveland, OH; 1 Sister: Karen Hughes of Cleveland, OH; 3 Grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00 PM Sunday, December 1, 2002 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Rev. Raui Isaiah officiating. Burial will be in Hughes Family Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call Saturday, November 30, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the funeral home.

Frances I. Hackworth

Frances I. Hackworth, 87 of South Charleston, died Thursday, November 28, 2002 in Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a short illness.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by 2 Daughters: Anna Ratcliff of South Charleston; Lynda Veski of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; 4 Sons: Earl Hackworth of Miami, Florida; Lloyd Houchins of Palm Beach, Florida; Walter and Fred Houchins both of Bandy, Virginia; Several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held Sunday, December 1, 2002 at 6:00 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, family suggest donation be made to Trinity Independent Baptist Church, South Charleston.

Zoma Cledith Hill

Zoma Cledith Hill, 77 of Alkol died Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a short illness.

She was a retired Post Master from the Alkol Post Office and was preceded in death by her husband, Bradford Hill; parents, John and Lucy Thompson. Cledith attended the Sycamore Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Alkol.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Breedlove of Yawkey; son, Terry Hill of Alum Creek; brother, Jack Thompson of Alkol; sister, Nona Thompson of Alkol; grandchildren, Johnna, Brad and Danny Hill, Michael and Michelle Breedlove.

Services will be 1:30 PM on Friday, November 29, 2002, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Basil Hudson and Pastor Darrell Searls officiating. Burial will be in the Stone Cemetery, Alkol. Friends may call from 12:00 to 1:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Bradie Carl Priestley

Bradie Carl Priestley, 91, of Alum Creek, died Thursday, November 21, 2002 at home after a long illness.

He was retired from F.M.C., a member of the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church, and a life long resident of Lincoln County.

He is survived by his: 2 Sons: Danny Priestley of Sod; Teddy Priestley of Alum Creek; 1 Daughter: Kay Deel of Huntsville, AL; 2 Sisters: Esta Reynolds of Fayetteville; Vesta Quinn of Beckley; 1 Brother: Gordon Priestley of Richwood; 5 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be held in Priestley-Pate Cemetery, McCorkle. Paul David “BIMBO” Tulley

Paul David “BIMBO” Tulley, 49, of Alkol, died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at the home of his sister, Brenda Tulley Priestley of Alum Creek, after a long illness.

He was a disabled construction worker, a Marine Corps Veteran and attended the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church.

He was also survived by his: 2 Daughters: Misty Dawn Tulley of Nitro; Trena Tulley of Dallas, GA; 2 Sons: Paul Tulley, Jr. of Dallas, GA; Jack Tulley of Springfield, OR; Father: James W. Tulley of Alkol; 2 Brothers: James Michael Tulley of Alkol; Bruce Tulley of Alkol.

Graveside services and burial will be held at Orchard Hills Memory Gazdens, Yawkey, Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Jessie B. Ryan, 100, of Hurricane, formerly of Alkol, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 12, 2002, in Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane, after a long illness.

She was a homemaker and a member of Sycamore Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Izola Meadows this past Saturday.

Izola Evelyn Ryan Meadows, 80, of Alkol, Lincoln County, went home to Heaven, Saturday, November 9, 2002 from her residence following a long illness.

Izola was born August 11, 1922 a daughter of the late Robert D. Ryan and Jessie Ryan. She was a homemaker, a life long resident of Alkol and was a member of the Sycamore Grove Baptist Church, Alkol.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis P. “Slim” Meadows and grandson, Paul Lee Miller.

She is survived by her: Mother: Jessie Ryan of Hurricane; 2 Sisters: Louise Griffith of Alkol; Judy Priestley and husband Rudy of Hurricane Brother: Robert Ryan Jr. and wife Sue of Scott Depot; 2 Sons: Rev Paul R. Meadows and wife Cazoline of Ona; Senior Master Sergeant Robert R. Meadows and wife Jayne of Charles Town; 3 Daughters: Sandra Lee Richmond and husband Roger of Alkol; Rhonda “Susie” Holeston of Alum Creek; Kathy Lynn Byrd of Sod; 10 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of relatives, friends and neighbors.

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with her son, Rev. Paul R. Meadows officiating. Burial will be in the Meadows Family Cemetery, Alkol. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Monday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to son- in-law, Roger Richmond, for his years of tender, loving care to mommy.

She was a member of Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by: 2 Daughters: Janis Moore of Alum Creek; Jean Elkins of Alkol; 3 Sons: Jerry White of Portsmouth, VA; Jackie White of Palatka, FL; Joey White of So Charleston; 13 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 PM on Monday, November 11, 2002 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Clarence Hutton and Pastor Mike Kordusky officiating. Burial will be in Midkiff Cemetery at Sumerco. Friends may call from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
