James “Russell” Curry, 73, of Yawkey passed away Thursday, June 6, 2002, at CAMC General Division as a result of injuries sustained in a December 17, 2001 car accident.
He was preceded in death by his parents James E. and Mary Craddock Cuny, brother Kenneth Curry and son Jodi Curry.
He was a member of Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Sod, the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge. He was a retired welder and a 52 year member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Loca1625. He was a Korean War Veteran.
He is survived by: Wife: Wilma Jean Breedlove Curry; Daughters: Demettria Curry of Dunbar, W V Jennifer Dunlap of Charleston, WV; Daughter-in-law: Pat Curry of Charleston, WV; Grandchildren: Rusty Weddington & wife, Missy of Yawkey, W V Devon &Colin Dunlap, and Nolan Curry all of Charleston, WV; Great Grandchildren• Emilee, Ashley &Caleb all of Yawkey, WV; Aunt: Ina McClure of Cleveland, Ohio; Special Daughter: Leah Saul Sowards of Yawkey, WV.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Phil Suiter officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens at Yawkey with Masonic Graveside Rites by the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge and also Military Graveside Rites by the Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768.
