Janet Louise (Loftis) McClure, 64, of Sumerco, beloved wife of Pastor Dwight L. McClure, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Hospice West after a 3 1/2 year battle with IPF.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Oval R. Loftis. Janet was a Christian for 49 years and a member of Hopewell Independent Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Most that heard her sing could not believe that such a loud voice could come out of such a small body. She also served as the Director of Ladies Celebration, VBS Director, taught Sunday School and VBS and helped with the Missions Conferences.
Janet was greatly loved and was loved by all the church family, especially the children. The kids loved to see if they were “as tall as Mrs. Janet.”
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 47 years, the love of her life and sweetheart since she was 12 years old, Dwight L. McClure; her beloved daughter and best friend, Nancy (Tim) Dunlap; granddaughter, Raygan Joy Dunlap (Mimi and Papaw’s pride and joy); mother and stepdad, Judy and Bob Pauley; brother, Stacy (Pam) Loftis; sisters, Gail (Ronnie) Thompson, Loretta (Charlie) Taylor and Margo (Jackie) Miller; God-daughter, Laura (Eric) Akers; God-son, Alan Miller; many nieces and nephews that she loved like her own; special friend, Ann Gillispie; and her church family along with a great host of neighbors and friends.
The family would especially like to thank Betsy and Obed Gillenwater, Carletta and Gary Hollandsworth, George and Sharon Hughes, Chris and Dennie Brunetti and Dale and Debbie Cable.
Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at Hopewell Independent Missionary Baptist Church, Alum Creek (located at Corridor G and Brounland Road) with Pastor Jackie Miller, Evangelist Dale Cable and Craig Gillenwater officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery, Sumerco. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to her favorite mission, H.E.L.P.s, c/o Hopewell Independent Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 518, Alum Creek, WV 25003.
Dwight, I am so sorry to hear of Janet’s passing tonight at church. The last time I saw you all in May of 2014 at Mahone Chapel, Janet sang “The Grass Is Greener On the Other Side”. It was such a blessing to hear you all sing again. Now Janet is singing in the Heavenly Choir. I pray Jesus will wrap you in His arms and comfort you in the days ahead.
Love and Prayers to you and your family,
Lisa McCallister

My Prayers and Condolence to Janet’s family. I had not seen Janet for many years,,,but growing up she was one of the best friends it was my blessing to have. We attended Midway Elementary for years and Duval High together for a half a year. I am sorry when I moved that we lost touch. She was a caring, kind, true friend. Rest In Peace.
What a homecoming we will have when we join Ms. Janet in Heaven. I believe if we could talk to her now – even after she has gone through some very hard times – that she would still tell us that…
“Times replay and I can see that I’ve cried some bitter tears
But I felt His arms around me, as I faced my greatest fears
You see I’ve had more gains than losses and I’ve known more joy than hurt
As His grace rolled down upon me undeserved
For God has been my Father, my Savior and my Friend
His love was my beginning, and His love will be my end
I could spend forever trying to tell you everything He is
But the best way that I can say it is this
God’s been good in my life
I feel blessed beyond my wildest dreams when I go to sleep each night
And though I’ve had my share of hard times, I wouldn’t change them if I could
‘Cause through it all, God’s been good ”
I love you and will miss you at Hopewell’s Homecomings, but will see you soon for an eternal homecoming with our Lord!! Our family is praying for the McClure Family and the Hopewell Family. God is faithful and His Grace is sufficient!!

For as many years as memory recalls and always, my sweet Cousin Janet has been an Angel, from when we were little girls when my Dad took me to visit her and forever she is a true reflection of God’s love for us all. She lifted me up with her sweetness and joy. We always mention our blessing to each other in being in the Loftis shorty club! ? We shared our love of family though sadly we seldom saw each other as adults. Blessed to have known her. You all are in my prayers, and in my heart always. In Jesus Holy name. Amen.
