Robert Dale Craddock, 72, of Hewett, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired electrician in the coal industry and a faithful member of Spencer Methodist Church in Hewett, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years. Robert served his country in the United States Army in Germany as a Sergeant in the B Battery 1st Battalion 33rd Artillery during the Vietnam War.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Craddock & Goldie Elkins; grandmother, Ellen Elkins, who raised Robert; son, Roby Frederick Craddock.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Teddi; 3 sons, Robert Bradley (Crystal), Clinton (April), Travis (Hillarie); sister, Paulette (Lanny) Dolin; grandchildren, Isabella, Mason, & Grayson, Kaila (Tyler) Wilson, Kameron (Caleb Collins) & Kaylor, Keilian (Ryan) Hall, Emma, Jakkson, Ivory, & Hukksley; 3 great grandchildren, Brantley, Paisley, & Hadley.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Spencer Methodist Church, Hewett, with Pastors Roger McCauley & Ralph Caudill officiating. Burial with Military Rites by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 will follow at Elkins Family Cemetery on Missouri Fork, Hewett. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022, at the church.

Joan Frances Copley Adams

Joan Frances Copley Adams, 78, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 7, 2022, at Hubbard Hospice House.

Joan attended Bible Center Church and was a 1961 graduate of Chapmanville High School. She retired from CAMC. Her most treasured times were when she was taking care of her family, cooking, and spending time with her husband and dog in the woods.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnett and Miriam Maynard Copley.

Joan is survived by her husband of 62 years, Orville; daughters, Lesia (Timothy) Keffer, Natalie (Rick) Withrow; grandchildren, Chase Keffer, Jennifer Keffer, Tyler (Jennifer) Withrow, Garrett (Jarrett) Withrow; great grandson, Samuel Withrow.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Richard Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hubbard Hospice House for their care of Joan.

Doris Jean Hudson

Doris Jean Hudson, 89, of South Charleston, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 5, 2022, at home.

Doris was a member of Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dan and her parents, William and Velma Lore Edwards.

Doris is survived by her son, Darrick (Deborah) and brother, Daryl (Linda) Edwards.

Service will be 1:00, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene, 102 Nazarene Drive, South Charleston, with Pastors Rick Gardner and Greg Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Timothy was a retired truck driver with Johnson Products.

He is survived by his parents, James and Nancy Miller; sons, Adam (Mindy) Miller, Kyle Miller, and Zach Miller; daughters, Katlin (Ancelmo) Diaz and Jadie Miller; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Tammy Bradley and Tina Miller; brother, Billy Stowers; and live-in niece Lacey Stowers.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2022, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Pastor Craig Gillenwater officiating.

John Lawrence Seacrist II, 20yrs young, entered his Heavenly home, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, following a short illness.

John is survived by his mother, Deanna Seacrist, brother, Preston McKean(Dallas), maternal grandmother, Delores Stover, maternal great grandfather, Kyle Graley, aunts, Angie Holstein(Joe), Jennifer Anderson(Eric), Ashley Mott(Trebor), cousins, JJ Holstein(Danielle and Marryn), Starr Arthur(Josh), Mercedes Graley, Griffin Graley, Xander Arthur, and Titan Mott, paternal grandmother, Diana Seacrist, best friends, Hunter Hudson, Brian Busby, Billy Grass, Chase Gravely, Dalton Fizer, Marshall King, Marshall Sloan, Brand Anderson and Ian Pritt, his two dogs, Diva and Nala that he loved dearly, and a host of other cousins and friends that are too many to list.

He was preceded in death by his best friend and Dad, John Seacrist I, maternal great grandmother, Geraldine Graley, maternal grandfather, Daniel Stover, paternal grandfather, Donald Seacrist, and paternal great grandmother, Wanda Igo Duncan(Jack), paternal great grandfather, Lawrence Igo, paternal great grandparents, John and Margie Seacrist.

John loved his family and his friends. He was an avid gamer and loved his late-night gaming with his friends. They also enjoyed going out for wings, pizza, and Mexican. They would have board game nights that would last for hours. This is what his passion was, time with his friends and family. He loved the flea market. He was always on the search for the holy grail of comic books or a vintage Star Wars collectable. Star Wars was his other passion or obsession; however you want to put it. He loved everything Star Wars. He and his friends went to all the movies. They even watched the episodes on tv over facetime together. He has amassed a large comic book collection and Star Wars collection. Those were his pride and joys. He had a passion for cooking. We would sit and binge watch Master Chef together so he could get ideas on things to cook. He made a mean steak!!! Summertime weekends were spent at Aunt Angie’s pool side talking about what ever came up. John was just an old soul like that. He had a lot of knowledge about history and loved to tell you about all of the wars throughout history. He also loved his guns. He knew quite a bit about guns, and he didn’t care to tell you about it either. John had a big heart and loved to help with others. He was loved by many and will be missed by many. He touched a lot of people’s lives in the 20 short years he was on this earth. Rest easy now my Son your fight is over. It is time to catch up with your Dad now. I hope you two are eating hot wings and fishing in heaven right now. I love you to the moon and back. —love Mom

November 3, 1929 – January 28, 2022

Jean Childress Boone, 92, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 28, 2022, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV.

Jean was born to the late Willie and Lottie Moore Childress in South Charleston, WV. She graduated from McMillan Hospital School of Nursing as an RN in 1952, the same year she married Frank H. Boone. She worked as a RN in WV, PA, OH and MI in various doctor offices, hospitals, schools and her favorite, public health. Mom’s final job was working at the Hubbard House where she and Miss Kitty would roll out to the nurses’ station every day to report for duty.

Jean is going home to husband, Frank H. Boone; parents, Willie and Lottie Childress; siblings, Julian (Alice) Childress, Ruth Kinder, Lakin (Lula Belle) Childress, Zack (Lillian) Childress, Ross (Roberta) Childress, Troy J. Childress; niece and nephews, Delmar Kinder, Francis Kinder, Willie Childress, James Childress.

Jean is survived by daughter, Jane A. Boone, South Charleston, WV; son, D. Allen (Jane S.), Lancaster, SC; beloved grandson, Broderick A. Boone, Charlotte, NC; nieces and nephews; Marci (Kenneth) Bell, Gary (Naomi) Childress, Carol Childress, Linda (Randy) Creech, Charlotte Robbins, Cheryl (Troy) Posey, Lola Roberts, Cathy Busch; numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Also survived by special once in a lifetime friends: Jeanne Johnston, Tyler Gill, Larry and Joanne Brewer, and Mary Motley.

Heartfelt thanks to the Home Palliative Care Staff: Anna; the Hospice Home Staff: Dawnetta, Holley, Mary, Mary, Amy, and Anna; the Hubbard House Hospice staff: Denise, Carol, Kim, Lisa, Hayden, Rita, James, Ricky and all those I may have missed. Your kind and compassionate care truly made a difference for Mom, and I’m eternally grateful to each and every one of you.

Frank Adkins

Frank Adkins, 86, of Yawkey, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Frank was a 1953 graduate of Duval High School and a retired Meter Tech for Pennzoil with 43 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 75. He was a member of Griffithsville Masonic Lodge #71 where he served as Past Master and was nearing 50 years of membership. Frank was one of the founding members of the Griffithsville Volunteer Fire Department and he, along with Sally, were longtime volunteers with the Duval Ambulance Service. Frank was also a lifelong member of Yawkey Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sally Lynn; his parents, Charles & Amelia Montcastle Adkins; and 12 siblings.

Frank is survived by his children; Michael Adkins, Mary (Paul) McCallister, Mendy (Daryl) Pemberton; sister, Hazel (Rick) Hill; 6 grandchildren, Colin, Michelle, Gatlin, Siera, Sarah, and Carson.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday February 6, 2022, at Boone Memorial Park with Minister Kim Matthews officiating. Masonic graveside rites by Griffithsville Lodge #71.

Margaret Lynne Dailey

Margaret Lynne Dailey, 79, of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 30, 2022, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Margaret was retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education as a school cook. She currently attended Bethany Baptist Church but had been an active member of Highlawn Baptist church serving in many ways with the ladies’ fellowship, cooking, nursery, kids ministry & outreach to the community. She also served with the Witcher Baptist Church women’s group where she attended many years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene & Pearl Puckett Jordan and sister, Bobbie Clark.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold; sons, Michael (Misty) of South Charleston & Erik (Megan) of Milton; grandchildren, Meghan & Justin Dailey, Jared Hale; brother, Randy (Donna) Jordan of Brunswick, GA; special friend, Melissa Dailey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Bethany Baptist Church, 2504 Grand Ave. St. Albans, WV with Pastor Raymond Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
