Michael Sean Tighe

Michael Sean Tighe, 56, of Alum Creek, WV, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at home surrounded by his family and friends after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Mike was a Master Mechanic for KRT and an employee of Garcie Marker & Sons.  He was a former  employee of  Motorola, B & C Communications and Capitol Cablevision.  He was a proud shop steward and past President of  the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1742.   He was a 1980 graduate of George Washington High School and held an Associate Degree in Electronics from NIT.

Mike enjoyed operating HAM radio, listening to music, spending time with his family and friends, and helping others.  There wasn’t anything Mike couldn’t fix.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marty and Katherine Pauley Tighe.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lauren; children Emily (Chris), Michael, Jessica,  and Derek; grandsons Austin and due in early June, Benjamin;  sisters Donna (Jack) and Staci; and his fur-daughter Ellie.

Service will be  7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Frannie Sias Harvey along with Garcie, Sammy and Dwight of Marker & Sons for all their help during this difficult time.

Ileene Mae Duff King

Ileene Mae Duff King, 90, of Charleston, WV,  born January 26, 1929, went home to the Lord Friday, May 10, 2019 at Valley Center in South Charleston.

She was a Christian and a member of the Davis Creek Assembly of God.  Ileene enjoyed watching Gospel programs, HGTV, and gardening.

Ileene was preceded in death by her husband, Perry C. King, son-in-law Lynn Turley and great-grandson, Parker Butler.

She is survived by her children Deborah Starcher of Ripley, Pamela Turley of Charleston, Cindy (Doyle) Fisher of Sissonville and Karen (Ed) Matoy of South Charleston; grandchildren Lisa Casto of Ripley, Michael King of Melbourne, FL, and Stephanie Butler of Glen Burnie, MD; and great grandchildren Jacob Casto of Ripley, Mason and Brooke Butler of Glen Burnie, MD, Collin and Wyatt King of Melbourne, FL.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, with Pastor June Ferrell officiating.  Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Dunbar.  The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

Judy Lynn Harmon

Judy Lynn Harmon, 51, of Nitro, WV, went home Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston.

She was a 1985 graduate of George Washington High School and a member of the Maranatha Fellowship in St. Albans.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Clara Harmon;  sister Donna Wilkinson; brothers Dale and Johnny McCallister.

She is survived by her daughters, Miranda Harmon of Charleston and Hannah Harmon of Nitro; son, Casey Harmon of Nitro; grandsons, Aiden, Ladrian, Declan and Kayden Harmon; sisters, Tammy Harmon, Kim Harmon and Christina McCallister; brothers, Russell (Heather) Harmon and Tommy Harmon; and best friends Lori and Myrna Mitchell.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at Graceland Memorial Park in South Charleston.

Doris “Jean” Pauley, 74, of Dunbar, (formerly of Alum Creek), went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice House, South Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Thelma Thompson, sisters, Dorothy Wright and Ann Thaxton, husbands, Arl Jr., and Fray Pauley.

She was a member of Council Gap Church of Christ.

Jean is survived by her children, Arl (Carolyn) Pauley of Charleston, Wayne Pauley & Jill Humphrey, who was a wonderful caregiver to Jean, Bryan Pauley of Alum Creek and Lisa (Randy) Hall of Wiley Ford, WV.

Jean is also survived by her brothers, Cline and Hal Watts, grandchildren, Brad Pauley, Kimberly Adams, Natasha Adams, Tyler Humphrey-Pauley, Shannon Pauley and Jacob Pauley, great-grandchildren, Autumn, John, Rocky, Karrigan and three other special great-grandchildren.

Service will be 7:00pm Thursday, May 9, 2019, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.   Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Lonnie Ray Bell, Jr.

Lonnie Ray Bell, Jr., 47, of Romance, WV,  went home Thursday, May 2, 2019 at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston.

He was an employee of C & L Construction as a job Foreman; and a member of the Ironworker Local 301. Lonnie served in the U. S. Army.

He is survived by his parents, Lonnie Bell Sr., and Patricia Goodwin; son, Corey of Sumerco; twin sisters Regina Bell and Bonita Bradshaw; and many other family members and friends.

Service will be  1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7,  at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek.  Burial will follow at Bell Cemetery in Big Ugly, WV.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

 

 

 

John “Danny” Barker, 73, of Alum Creek, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Select Specialty, Charleston.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Connissie Holstein Barker and brother, Pete Barker.  He was a construction worker.

Danny is survived by his sister, Ruth (Jimmy) Lutsy, brother, Doyle (Norene) Barker and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 2:00pm, Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Barker Cemetery, Ashford.

Harold Lee Shultz

Harold Lee Shultz, 72, of Charleston, WV, went home Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Hubbard House Hospice West in South Charleston.

He was a Brick Mason working in both residential and commercial.   Harold enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and Nascar.

He was preceded in death by his father Ryan Shultz and brother Roger Shultz.

Harold is survived by his wife Anna Jean Shultz; daughters, Gina Shultz and Lori (Bobby) Shaffer; mother, Mary Shultz; siblings, Phyllis (Lester) Samson and Glenn Shultz;  granddaughter, Heather Cox; great grandson, Christian Hudson; and Izzy Smith who was like a daughter to Harold.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, with Pastor Gary Gillispie officiating.   Burial will follow at the Shultz Cemetery in Charleston.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
