Craig Gee, 63, of Charleston, WV, took his first steps with Jesus on October 17, 2018.  A husband, father, & grandfather, Craig’s greatest joy was serving his Savior and his family.

As a lifelong pastor & missionary, Craig dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel around the world. He leaves behind a legacy marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Fred, and Peggy Gee.

Craig’s living legacy begins with his wife Carlotta, and continues through his children Jessica (Andy) Backus, Rachel (Robert) Krzesinski, and Aleksander Gee;  ten grandchildren; and his siblings Steve (Jean) Gee, Marylynn (John) Saloiye, Kathleen (Fred) Jansohn, Carolyn (Mike) McMillen, and Jon (Deborah) Gee.

You are welcome to join Craig’s family in a celebration of Craig’s life at 2:30 p.m.  Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Randolph Street Baptist Church, 213 Randolph Street, Charleston, WV.

Mary Jo Mosteller

Mary Jo Mosteller, 90, of Garretts Bend, WV, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 15, 2018.

She was a 1945 graduate of Duval High School.  Mary was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and was saved during a 3-week long revival in 1941.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilmer; brothers, Emil Lee and Gerald Smith; and parents Silman and Lelia Smith.

Mary is survived by her son, Wayne “Moe” (Kathy) Mosteller; grandsons, Robert (Wendy) and Jeff (Allison) Mosteller; granddaughter, Brandy (Brian) Messer; great-grandsons Dawson, Ashton, and Ethan; and great-granddaughters, Molly and Abigail.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 18, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Jeff Mosteller, Pastor Homer Hensley, Robert Mosteller, and Rev. Mark Ruby officiating.  Burial will follow at the Mosteller-Yoder Cemetery in Tornado.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a special thank you to all the caregivers who helped so much during mom’s sickness.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Covenant Baptist Church Youth, P. O. Box 88, Alum Creek, WV 25003.

Laurie Ann Hudson

Laurie Ann Hudson, 53, of Sumerco, WV,  went to be with the Lord at home on Sunday, October 14, 2018, with her family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Adkins.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Scott; four children, Joshua (Amanda), Tiffany (Chris), Jacob and Jedediah Hudson; mother, Jean Adkins; step-mother, Sonja Adkins; sisters, Terri (Joe) Mullins, Carole (Mike) Jones, and Debbie (Roger) Sutphin; brother, Billy (Monica) Adkins; step-brother, Christopher (Christine) Hood; grandson on the way, Farley; she also leaves behind a special niece, Ashley and many other family and friends who will greatly miss her and her smile.

She had worked as a Teachers Aide at McCorkle Headstart and attended Scary Creek Freewill Baptist church.

Service will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Richard McCallister officiating.  Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service.

The Hudson family wants to thank area churches for their prayers and everyone who brought meals during her illness.

Orland Jackson “Tom” Meikles, 95, of South Charleston, WV, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 8, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

He served in the U. S. Army under General Patton during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Tom was a life member of the D.A.V. Kanawha Chapter 28 and also a member of the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768.

Tom retired as a pipefitter after 30 years at Union Carbide in South Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Jackson Meikles; parents, Arch and Chalcie Meikles; sisters, Marie, Opal, and America; and brothers, Parker, Robert and Delmer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Eulah; daughters, Patricia (Harry) McNamee, Peggy (Jerry) Brandt, Pam Meikles, Benita (Steven) Booth and Susan (Tom) Cook; sister, Phyllis (Cal) DeBord; sister-in-law, Lucy Meikles; grandchildren, Joshua (Stephanie), Stacie, Bethany, Amanda, Brian, Scott, and Sarah; great grandchildren, Anna, Shane, Drew, J.J., Abby, and Matthew Orland.

Service will be noon Saturday, October 13, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ronnie Jene Smith

Ronnie Jene Smith, 68, of Alum Creek, passed into his new life on Sunday, October 7, 2018, to be with Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennie & Ramona Smith, grandfather, Ed Smith, and great-grandfather Bub Smith.

He was owner & operator of McCloud’s Radiator Shop, and a graduate of Duval High School.  Ronnie will forever be remembered by his family and friends for his big heart, giving soul! and his love for Elvis and Rock & Roll.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Christine, stepsons: Jonathan Lee, Peter Henry and Nicholas Ray and 7 grandchildren.

At Ronnie’s request there will be no services.  His cremains will be placed on the family farm on Buck’s Point overlooking the lake.

Helen Alice “Dollie” Ruby, 80, of Alum Creek, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 1, 2018, at home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ishmael & Margaret Ruby; brothers, William and Samuel Ruby; sisters, Elizabeth Caniff, Myrtle Hill, and Shirley Dunlap; nephews, Paul Dunlap, and Steve Ruby.

She formerly worked in the legal department for the State of West Virginia.

She is survived by her loving son, Craig Dunlap; grandson, Talbert Dunlap; nieces & nephews, Tim Dunlap, Erin Stephens, Sam Ruby & Charlotte Causey; and numerous great-nieces & great-nephews and a loving family.

Service will be 2:00 p.m.  Friday, October 5, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.  Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, South Charleston.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone wear Dollie’s favorite color pink.

Eddie Russell Wandling

Eddie Russell Wandling, 52, of Sumerco, WV, died on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He served 6 years in the U. S. Army. Eddie was owner and operator of Ed’s Auto Parts and Service.

Eddie was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Wandling.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna Faye Wandling; sons, Eddie Dale and Dillon Preston Wandling of Sumerco and Aaron (Brittani) Lacy and her daughter, Brylee, of Poca; father and stepmother, Eddie L. and Christine Wandling of Spurlockville; sister, Terri (Steve) Frazer of Alum Creek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Debbie Roberts; and a host of family and friends.

A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Eddie & Deanna Wandling’s home, 198 Wandling Road, Sumerco, WV, (Priestley Ridge) with Pastor Jackie Miller officiating.

 

 

Sarah Jane Blankenship

Sarah Jane Blankenship, 86, of Alum Creek, WV passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 with her family surrounding her.

Jane was born August 30, 1932 in Island Creek, WV to the late Foster and Thelma Midkiff. She was a homemaker and member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Alum Creek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Delmar Blankenship; brother, John Midkiff and sisters, Ruth Justice, Dolly Allen, Cornie Barker, and Verda Jean Midkiff.

She is survived by sons, Melvin (Monica) Blankenship, and  Fredrick “Kip” (Tammy) Blankenship both of Alum Creek, and Gregory Blankenship, Lillington, NC; daughters,Rita (Jackie) Hughes of Alum Creek and Tammy McClaskey of Buffalo; brother, Ned Midkiff; and sister, Barb Linville both of Alum Creek and half-brother,  Homer Midkiff of Clendenin;  grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Robinson,  Julie (Jimmy) Roberts, Tara (Davey) Hughes,  Brandon Hughes, Christopher (Ashtin) Blankenship, Clifton (Kristan) Blankenship, Kayla McClaskey, and Sommer Blankenship and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Memorial Park Cemetery, Ona, WV.  Friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Linda Turley, Pam Phillips and the staff of the Hubbard Hospice West for the wonderful care and assistance.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd, W., Charleston, WV 25387-2536.

Diana Ann McCallister Chandler

Diana Ann McCallister Chandler, 74, of Alum Creek, WV, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, September 17, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late, Delbert Elden “Boo” and Mearl May Kidd McCallister.

She was a 1962 graduate of Duval High School. Diana worked as a bookkeeper from 1962 to 1968 at the McClung & Morgan Department Store, South Charleston, where she met her future husband Patrick Chandler. After their marriage she became a fulltime mother and housewife. In her youth, Diana was a very good softball player and a member of the McCorkle FreeWill Baptist Church.

She was a member of the Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Alum Creek.

Diana was predeceased by her sister, Carol Dooley.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Patrick; daughter, Marsha L. Chandler; siblings, David McCallister, Linda (Tom) Settle, Jewell (Roger) McClure, Kathy (Bob) Judge and Roger McCallister; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastors Frank Chapman and Daniel Dent officiating. Burial wll follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Sumerco. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice West and special caregivers Linda Turley and Pam Phillips; also Dr. Scott Smith and Dr. Steven Zekan.
