James Frank Cash

James Frank Cash, Sr., 69, of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord after a long illness on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Mae, son, James Franklin Cash, Jr., granddaughter, Crystal Cash, parents, Homer & Elizabeth  Cash, and brother, Charles.

He worked in construction and was a truck driver for Smith Transfer and WV Paving.

He is survived by his son, Johnny (Cindy) Cash, daughter, Buffy (Steve) Thomas, brothers, John (Shirley) Cash and Homer Cash, six grandchildren, Jimmy, Kristen, Cassidy, Andy, Jacob, and Abby, four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Dylan, Karma, and Lilly.

Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 7th at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastors Earl Cochran and Frank Chapman officiating.  Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

 

Vallie F. Holstein Turley

Vallie F. Holstein Turley, 84, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2017, after a long illness.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George, and son, Tim Turley and siblings, Jackie, Macel, Juanita, and Ramona.  She was the daughter of the late Isaac Jackson Holstein II and Edith Rathburn Holstein.

She was a former member of Brier Creek Baptist Church.  She was a retired teacher’s aid, and worked in both Jackson and Kanawha Counties.  She was best known for her loving hospitality, generosity and kindness, and also for being a great cook.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Jeff) Haught, and son, Curtis Turley, sisters, Connie Parsons and Zona Linville, brothers, Gene, Murl, Doug and Roger Holstein, and grandchildren, Brendan and Kate Rainey, Kevin and Richard Simmons, Jamie, Matt, Michael and Michelle Turley, and a large and loving extended family.

Service will be 2:00pm Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Tommy Roberts officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.Special thanks to the Marmet Genesis Healthcare for their loving care.

Wendelin “Wendy” Starr Worstell Bowen Kirk, 63, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2017, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Wendy is preceded in death by her mommy, Norma Bowen, daddy, Eugene Worstell, three sisters, Mary Stanley, Carolyn Worstell, Lissa Eastwood, and daughter, Misti Ash.

Wendy was a great story teller and was loved by all who met her.  She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

She was the former owner/operator of Wendy’s Place at Sumerco, and was a loving mother, grandmother and devoted sister.

Wendy is survived by her loving husband Randy Kirk, Sr., sons, Doug Bowen and Brandon (Lenora) Bowen, Randy (Cindy) Kirk II, daughter, Cortney Kirk, ten grandchildren, Lindsay Bowen, Brandon Martin, Tearanee Bowen, Paige and Destany Nelson, Chase Bowen, Candace and Kendall Kirk, Liam and Carol Ann Kirk.  She is also survived by her brother Scott (Laurie) Worstell, and sisters, Ann Hanshaw, Donah (Steve) Brown, Marcie (Doug) Gillispie, Karrie (Paul) Lovejoy, and Twylla (Cameron) Bays.  She was the “favorite” aunt to most of her many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be Thursday, 2:00 pm, October 5, 2017 at the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. In lieu of flowers family request donations toward funeral services.

Herbert Bostic

Herbert Bostic, 83, of Griffithsville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Mazie Bostic, brother, James Corbitt Bostic, sisters, Letha Crowder and Mae Slater. He was a former coal miner and a 50-year member of Laborers Local 1353. He was a Christian and formerly attended Praise  Assembly of God. Herbert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ollie Mae, sons, Herbert (Kim) Bostic, Jr., Terry (Denise) Bostic, Tim Bostic, Frank (Karla) Bostic and Shane Parrish, daughters, Pamela (Michael) Cooper, and Lisa Bostic and eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, sister, Georgia Haynes and brother, Bob (Lilla) Bostic. Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Oshel Bell.  Burial will follow at Lively Cemetery, Sod.   Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.
