Fray Pauley, 80, of Sod, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2017.
He is joyfully reunited with his son, Eddie who entered Heaven 34 days before him and with his father, Ora Pauley and mother, Pansy Pauley, as well as many other family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra (Randy) Griffith, Sonya (George) Core, Leatha (Ronnie) Flowers, Debbie (John) Trent, Robin (Steve) Hunter and son, Steve Pauley and daughter-in-law, Tammy Pauley; 26 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his twin sister, Grace (Roe) Smith and sisters, Monzella (Lanny) McDougal and Shirley (Victor) Ryan and family and friends too numerous to count.
A special thank you to his neighbor Jean Turley for being a good godly friend to him the last 10 years.
Fray will be missed by all who knew him. He had a fun-loving personality and loved to laugh and joke around. He never met a stranger in his life and LOVED to talk. He possessed a sharp memory until his death and could recall and recount events from childhood through his 80th year of life with detailed clarity. That fantastic memory also made it hard for him to forget things he wished he could, so he found it hard to forgive himself for many things. God had no such problem forgiving him.
Fray’s life story is a testimony of God’s mercy and grace. God graciously allowed him to receive salvation after 70 years of living a lifestyle which he spent the last 10 years of his life deeply regretting. He spoke often of wishing his children and grandchildren would realize that they need to serve God while they’re young so they won’t have regrets, as he did, at the end of their lives. He understood that although God saved him from his sin in his old age, the damage done to people he loved and to relationships with them could never be fully recovered. Time is precious!!! Make your life count for God now before you too find yourself looking back wishing “if only”.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2 pm at McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Scott officiating. Burial at Lively Cemetery in Sod, WV.
