Annie Louise RabelAnnie Louise Rabel, 85, of South Charleston passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Rabel.

Annie is survived by daughters, Evelyn (Mike) Blake and Mary (Allen) Haynes; four

grandchildren, James Starcher, Travis Haynes, Jessica (Joey) Beane and Jennifer Haynes; and  two great grandchildren, Gavin Beane and Jackson Chandler.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Charles Kidd officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Our family is very appreciative for the care given by Hospice and mom’s special caregivers.

Paul Dunn

Paul Dunn Paul N. Dunn, 89, of St. Albans passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016.   He was born on February 20, 1927 in Kingston, WV.

He was preceded in death by his father, Worthy Morton Dunn; mother, Virginia Elizabeth Dunn; four brothers and three sisters.

Paul was a Navy Veteran of WWII.   He retired from FMC after 35 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lucille Link Dunn; son, Paul N. Dunn, Jr. and his wife, Rhonda Lea Dunn; daughter, Alane Dunn Wood and her husband, Dean Wood; six grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at Highlawn Baptist Church, 2304 Jefferson Ave., St. Albans, WV with the Dr. Rev. Mark Stauffer officiating.  Interment will be at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 12th, at the church.

Walter Lovejoy Jr. Walter Sesco Lovejoy, Jr., 76. of Sod went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, with his family by his bedside.

He was  self employed. He worked at  drilling water wells and bore holes in the coal mines.  At one time in his career,  Jr. drilled oil wells in Honduras. He was also the owner and operator of Rainbow Irrigation and Landscaping. He became a Christian Dec. 3, 2013.  Jr. was a veteran of the  U. S. Air Force.

He was preceded  in death by his parents, Walter Sesco and Effie Lee Cooper Lovejoy.Jr. is survived by his wife of 57 years, Tona M. “Pat” Lovejoy; daughters, Rhonda (Harold) Johnson of Palm Coast, Fl., Robin (Frederick) Thompson of Alkol, Tina (Jerry) Roberts and Regina (Timothy) Brogan all of Sod; brothers, Johnny (Becky) Lovejoy of Alum Creek and Richard Lovejoy (Denise) of Fl.; sisters, Lou Ella (Bob) Jackson of IL, and Donrheta (David) Margolis of NC;  9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastors Ron Scott and Roe Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Lively Cemetery, Sod with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768.   The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Hazel Bays Whitten

Hazel WhittenI have fought a good fight.  I have finished my course.  I have kept the faith.

Hazel Bays Whitten, 94, of Woodville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 1, 2016, surrounded by her family and friends who were singing her favorite songs to her.

She was born on February 13, 1922 and was born again as a Christian in 1949 when she was saved at the Methodist church on Stinson Mountain.  She was a member of Woodville Baptist Church.

Hazel attended Tango and Yawkey Elementary schools, Duval High School, Marshall University, and Morris Harvey College.  She was a school teacher for 13 years.  She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years of service as the postmaster of the Woodville post office.  She was also co-owner of Whitten’s Grocery for many years.

Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, sons Barry and Roger, daughter Sharon Baisden, an infant son, grandson Kenny, parents Wetzel and Bessie Bays, and brothers Benny, Basil, and Herman Bays.

Hazel is survived by sons Ronald (Katherine) Whitten and Donald (Charlotte) Whitten of Griffithsville; daughter-in-law Chiquita Whitten of Woodville;  brothers Bernard of Toledo, OH, Jack (Barbara) of Elkview, and Bill of Leander, TX; sisters Betty (Leo) Pack of Elkview and Louise Fought of Toledo, OH; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great, great-grandchildren.

Hazel was blessed with a family that took excellent care of her along with 2 very special friends Faye Smith and Melissa Sigmon.  She loved her family and she loved serving the Lord.  She most enjoyed talking to people about the Lord.  Anyone who visited with her could not leave without honoring her request of singing her one of her favorite church hymns.

Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 4, 2016 at Curry Funeral Home, 2096 Childress Rd, Alum Creek with Pastors Homer Hensley and Gene Pauley officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday June 3, 2016.

Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, WV.
