Charlotte McGraw
Charlotte Marian McGraw, 81, of South Charleston went home to the Lord Thursday, November 21, 2013 at home after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob McGraw; parents John and Maggie Rabel; brothers, John B. and Keith Rabel and sister, Phyllis Pauley.

Charlotte was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and for many years loved taking care of children although she had none of her own.

She is survived by her; sister Shirley Holstine (Bob), brother; Tom Rabel, step-children; Jeff McGraw and Debbie Bagby; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and caregiver, Lori Grounds.

Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, November 23, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Wallace York officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ronald Byron Green

ronald Byron Green 1Ronald Byron Green passed away peacefully at Medical City Dallas on Sunday morning November 3, 2013 with his family by his side. Ronald was born May 28, 1946 in Charleston, WV to Richard Baxter Green and Doris Shelton Green. He graduated from Charleston High School, Charleston, WV and attended Concord University, Athens, WV. He enlisted in the US Navy and was a Corpsman on the US Great Sitkin Ammunition Ship in the Mediterranean Sea.

He had the privilege in working with many great associates at Kanawha Valley Bank in Charleston, WV. His most recent employment has been a Compliance Auditor with Williams Financial Investment Group in Dallas, TX.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Green Hartwell, step-father, Doyle Hartwell in St. Albans, WV, his daughter, Stacey Rayburn and husband Brad; sons, Jason Green and wife, Lana, Brian Green and Zachary Green, all residing in the Dallas, TX area.

A memorial service was held Friday, November 8, 2013 at North Dallas Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the charity of your choice.

Hubert Junior Pauley

Hubert Junior PauleyHubert Junior Pauley, 80 of Sod went home to be with the Lord Saturday November 9, 2013 at Hospice West South Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Reverend Hubert Pauley and mother Mary Ellen Bennett Pauley, sisters, Shelvey Jean Pauley Domingue, Norita Mae Pauley, and brother Jahue Frederick Pauley, and son Steve Pauley.

Junior was a retired carpenter, a member of Carpenters Local 1207, a member of the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church and a Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Anna, daughters; Rebecca Harper, Deborah Pauley and Sally (Mike) Adkins, son; Mark Pauley, stepchildren; Clifford, Erne Linn, Alice Thibodeanx, Brenda Hofstadt, Everett, John, and Rick Messer, sisters Evelyn Kinnison and Janice McKeel, brother William “Wink” Pauley, 3 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.

Service will be ll:00 AM Friday at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park South Charleston. Family and friend will gather from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church P.O. Box 65, Alum Creek, WV 25003.

Glen Gillispie

Glen Gillispie, 71, of Sod died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at home.

He was a boiler maker with Bolt Manufacturing.

He is survived by his brother, Elworth Gillispie; sisters, Betty Lacy, Emma Jean Pauley and Mae Dunlap and niece, Marlene (John) Solberg.

Graveside Service will be 4:30 pm Tuesday, November 12th at Lacy Family Cemetery, Priestley Ridge, Sumerco, WV.

 

Lessie L. Egnor

Lessie Egnor
Lessie L. Egnor, 82, of Yawkey died peacefully Saturday November 9, 2013 after a long illness with her family at her side. She was born August 20, 1931 in Alma, Georgia where she grew up. Lessie met and married Ralph Egnor in 1949 while he was serving in the navy in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to West Virginia. They were married for 49 years before his death in 1998.

Lessie was a member of the Alum Creek Church of Christ, was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her Christian example made a lasting impact on her family. Her greatest joys in life were her family and her love for the Lord. Her family and friends will always remember her good southern cooking and delicious homemade pies. She enjoyed cooking, camping, spending time at the beach and in the mountains of West Virginia.

She is survived by her 3 daughters: Darlene Tackett (Larry) of Yawkey, Cheryl Bowe (Dallas) of Ashland, KY and Cindy Chapman (Barry) of Cross Lanes. Also 7grandchildren; Jason Tackett (Missy) of Alum Creek, Amber Wells (Joey) of Yawkey, Justin Tackett (Johnna) of Cross Lanes, Whitney Ward (Chris), Landon Bowe (Melanie) both of Ashland, KY, Stacie Morgan (Brian) of Hurricane, and Ashley Jordan (Jon) of Cross Lanes and 7 great grandchildren; Shane, Codie, Rylie, Aiden, Bailey, Declan, and Jake, and brother Royce Stewart of South Carolina.

The family would like to thank Genesis Healthcare of Dunbar and Hospice for all their wonderful care and their special kindness shown to our mother.

Service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road Alum Creek with Minister Joseph Watts officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens Yawkey. Family and friends will gather 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home.

 

Bill Trimble
William “Bill” W. Trimble, 69 of Tornado, died Thursday November 7, 2013 at home after a long illness.

He was a member of the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from B. F. Goodrich in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Bill is survived by his: companion of 13 years, Anna Creighton, daughter; Kelly Palmer and son Scott both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, step daughter Vicki Creighton of Loudendale, sisters; Doris Mandeville of Akron, OH, Martha Lawrence of Alabama, Nancy Keith of Overland Park, Kansas, Kay Angle of Winfield, brothers; Ellis of Arlington, Texas, Johnny of Buckhannon, 4 grandchildren.; Bradley Creighton, Caden Wilder, Zack Palmer and Kayla Cooley.

Services will be 4:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Additional services and burial will be at Covington Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana at a later date.

A special thanks to Hospice for all their wonderful care.

Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Saturday at Curry Funeral Home.

Albert Weber

Albert W. Weber (AWW), 65, of Alum Creek departed peacefully from this life on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Oakridge Center, Charleston.

He was a former employee of the Department of Highways and W. Q. Waters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Leona Weber.

He is survived by brothers, Dalton and Larry (Ruth) Weber both of St. Albans and Bobby Weber of TN; sister, Linda (Ward) O’Dell of Quick and Kay Valentine of Heavenly Drive; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, November 3rd at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childrress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Burial with Graveside Service will be 11:00 am Monday at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home.

The family wants to give a special thank you to niece, Carol O’Dell, for her loving care of Albert and also to Betty Elmore, nurse Holly and the staff at the Oakridge Center.

 

Raymond Fields

Raymond (Bootie) Eugene Fields, 70, of Morrisvale, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Garnet Fields and son, David Holestin.

He was a retired truck driver with Patriot Coal and a member of the UMWA.

He is survived by companion of 32 years, Brenda Holestin, and daughter, Drema Hill; sisters, Linda Moles and Debbie Taylor and brother, Billy Fields. Five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Raymond’s request was to be cremated. Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday October 29, 2013 at Breedlove’s Service Station at Julian.

Thomas Pauley, Jr.

Thomas Pauley, Jr., 86, of Sod went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 24, 2013 at home.

He was a retired coal miner with 34 years of service at Westmoreland Coal Co.; he was a member of the UMWA and Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Jr. was preceded in death by his step-son, David Dunlap.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley; daughter, Regina Adams; step-sons,Frederick Dunlap and James (Gladys) Banks; step-daughter, Reva (Mark) Gray; sister, Nina Faye Dunlap; brother, Ray (Faye) Pauley; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday October 27, 2013 at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road Alum Creek
with Pastor Butch Brogan officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers family request contributions be made toward funeral services.

Rae W. Adkins, 89, of Alum Creek died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Regency Place, Scott Depot, WV.

He was a retired school teacher for Kanawha and Lincoln Counties; a member of Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768; the Alum Creek Lions Club; the Appalachian Fiddlers Association; Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church; also a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and recipient of the Purple Heart.

Rae was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Peck Adkins.

He is survived by his sister, Peggy Midkiff of Hamlin; nieces, Kathy Chaney Grooms, Virginia Wilson and Melinda (Tim) Adkins; and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, October 18, 2013 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors Jody Pistore and Gale Pauley officiating. Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, with military Graveside Rites. Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
