Okey Sattes Casto

Okey Sattes Casto, 99, of Alum Creek, died Friday, March Il, 2005 at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie; son, Gary D. Casto, Sr.; and great-grandson, Gary B. McDaniel.

He retired from the True Temper Corp., Charleston in 1966.

He is survived by his:
Daughter: Connie Casto of Alum Creek;
Daughter-in-law: Dottie Casto of Alum Creek;
Two grandaughters: Terri Holcomb and Lori McDaniel both of Alum Creek;
Five great grandchildren: David, Lydia, Sarah, James and Sami; grandson, Gary D. Casto. Jr.;

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with the Rev. Clare J. Sulgit officiating. Burial will be at the Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Family and friends will gather from 7 to 9 Monday, March 14 at the funeral home.

James “Marvin” Stone, Sr., 75, ofAlkol went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Martha Stone; brother, Crispin Stone; sisters, Ellen Collins, Mattie Meadows, Virginia Stone and Jenny Thompson.

He was a member of Sycamore Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Alkol, an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of Teamsters Local 175 and he retired from Bell Lines/Smith Transfer.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Julia Atkins Stone; children and spouses, James M. Jr.and (Marilyn) Stone of South Charleston, Pamela Aldridge of Alkol, Kim and (Jeff) Smith of Nitro, Becky and (Bill) Bowe of Alkol, Sarah and (Mark) Kennedy of Van; sister, Gladys Green of Nitro; brother, Jim (Rick) Stone of Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Sycamore Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Alkol, with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Stone Family Cemetery Alkol with Military Graveside Rites by the Madison VFW Post. Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 PM Friday at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Orville F. Walls

Orville F. Walls, 81,of Olcott, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 7, 2004 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his son, Floyd “Pookie” Walls.

He was a retired coal miner.

His is survived by his:
Wife: Goldie Holstein Walls;
Two Sons: Roy and Teddy
Five Grandchildren Seven Great Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews

Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday March 9, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek with Pastor Mike Graley officiating. Burial will be in the Holstein Cemetery at Dartmont. Family and friends will gather from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Dell Boston Ashley

Dell Boston Ashley 59, of Griffithsville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 3, 2005 at home after a short illness.

He was a retired coal miner from Westmoreland Coal Co. at Clothier, a member of the Community Gospel Church of Jesus at Woodville and was preceded in death by his parents Boston and Della Ashley.

Dell is survived by his:
Wife: Delores;
2 Sisters: Jean Clay of Hurricane; Debbie Dunlap of Julian;
2 Brothers: Richard Ashely of Milford, Delaware; Paul Ashely of Alkol;
Brother-in-law: Jim Myers of Griffithsville;

Service will be 1:00 PM Monday at the Curry Funeral Home at Alum Creek with Pastor Leslie Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Orchard Hills Memory Gardens at Yawkey. Family and friends will gather from 7 to 9 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road Alum Creek is in charge of arrangements.
