Frank James Harris, Jr., 73, of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 27, 2005 after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shearlean Nelson Hanris.
He was retired from Kanawha Electric, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, was a member of the Charleston VFW and was of the Nazarene faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Shearl Harris of St. Albans; three sons, Frankie and David Harris both of Charleston, Tim Harris of St. Albans; one brother, Ronnie Harris of East Bank; one sister, Betty Hams of Charleston; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1:00 PM Monday, October 31, 2005 at Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek with Pastor Jerry Cantley officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Bennie Padilla VFW Post 4768. Services are in care of Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek. Family request donations be made to Freedom Christian Church Manna Ministries, 114 West Main Street, St. Albans, WV 25177.

John Madison Bradshaw, Jr.

John Madison Bradshaw, Jr., 51, of Elkview went to meet the Lord Friday, October 21, 2005 surrounded by family and friends at home.

He was owner of Mountaineer Pumping in Elkview. He currently attended Glad Tidings Apostolic Church, Charleston and he loved hunting and fishing. He was a wonderful husband and father who actively participated in coaching and sporting events with his sons.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Alma Lou; two sons, Brandon and Joshua both at home; parents, John and Virginia Bradshaw of Charleston; one sister, Sharon Allen of Charleston, SC; nephew, Bryon Bradshaw of Charleston; one great niece; one great nephew.

Service will be 11:00 Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Grace Church of the Nazarene, South Charleston, with Pastor Chuck Goddard officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call at Grace Church of the Nazarene on Monday from 6 to 8 PM.

Julia “Judy” Moses Chandler

Julia “Judy” Moses Chandler, 92, of Alkol, was born November 26, 1912 and died October 12, 2005 at home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dot Chandler.

She was a member of Sycamore Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Alkol since 1946, a former Sunday school teacher, did home missionary work for many years and had a gospel tract ministry.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Rev. Russell “Buck” Adkins officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Frenchie E. Gillispie

Frenchie E. Gillispie, 67, of St. Albans, died Monday, October 10, 2005 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Vemie Gillispie; brothers, James, Bobby and Billy Gillispie; sisters, Gladys Allen and Reba Mullins.

He is survived by his son, John Edward Allen of Lexington, OH; brothers, Denzil Gillispie Cross Lanes, Gilbert Gillispie of Marysville, OH; sister, Wanda Napier of Plain City, OH; grandchildren, Brian, Chad and Joshua Allen all of OH; great grandchild, Kalan Alexander of OH.

Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2005 at Cuny Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Junior Graley officiating. Burial will be in Gillispie Cemetery, Emmons. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.

Charles T. Jr. Brammer

Charles T. Jr. Brammer, 79, of Ridgview, died Sunday, October 9, 2005 at CAMC Memorial Division after a long illness.

He was a retired Coal Miner.

He is survived by his wife, Macil; two daughters, Wanda Faye Prine, Patricia Ilene Brammer; two half-brothers, Richard and Jerry Thevenin; one half-sister, Juanita Kinder; four grandsons, Durley Charles Mullins, Gregory Wyatt Mullins, Charles Edward Brammer, and Perry Prine; two great grandchildren.

Services held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Rev. F. A. Giles officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the Bennie Padilla VFW post 4768 will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Jewell Marie Burton

Jewell Marie Burton Dawson was born November 24, 1925 and went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2005.

She was the only daughter of the late Arch and Anna Burton. She was employed by Lincoln County Boazd of Education with 42 years of service. Her first teaching job was in a one room school on Maul Fork. She later taught at McCorkle, Midway and Griffithsville Elementary. During her long career, she was chosen as Lincoln County Teacher of the Year in 1982.

She not only taught young children at school, but also at church. As a member of Amy Baptist Church she taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years.

Her love of children was stronger nowhere else but at home. Being the mother of a daughter, she cherished this role above none other. Then, watching her grandchildren grow, teaching them, and watching them become adults and have families was a true blessing for her. She enjoyed her role as great grandmother with every ounce of her heart.
She is preceded in death by her pazents, Arch and Anna Burton, one brother, Rev. Tony H. Pauley, and nephew, Randy Lynn Pauley.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ralph Dawson; daughter, Patricia and husband, Wayne Grass; granddaughter, Shawnda and Donnie Whitten; grandson, David and Becky Grass; special friend and neighbor, Beatrice Grass. The joys in her life were her four great grandchildren, Annie Grace, Josie Jewell, Garrett Wayne, and Kelly Jo.

Jewell had several health problems throughout her life, but never complained once. She was a strong lady with strong Christian beliefs.

Services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastors Forest Curry, Chester Bird, Butch Leadman and Minister Louis Watts officiating. Burial will be held in Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call on Saturday, October 8, 2005 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Bessie Marie Thornton

Bessie Marie Thornton May, 91, of Griffithsville, died October 6, 2005 at Lincoln Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hamlin, after an extended illness.

Bessie was born October 30, 1913 in Big Creek, the daughter of the late Ed and Maggie Mason Thornton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Terri Lynn May; her twin brother, Jesse; brothers, Raymond (Page), Edmond (Chink) and Harry; sisters, Glenneth Smith (Rome), Guyneth Vandelinde (Ben), Mareda Hill (Jimmie) and Lori Adkins (Roy).
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Dean Teal of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; grandson, Christopher Teal and wife, Juen also of Rehoboth Beach, and her husband of 66 yeazs, Major Harold F. May of Griffithsville.

In accordance with her often and forcefully expressed wishes, there will be no service or visitation.
Her earthly body will be cremated and her ashes will be inurned in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery.

The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at the Nursing Center who cared for “Miss Bessie” so professionally, tenderly and lovingly during her final days here on earth.

Freeman P. Bell, 90, of South Charleston went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 13, 2005 at the home of his granddaughter, Mary Alice Schmidt of South Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Belva Bell; first wife, Ruth; son, Terry; brother, J.E. Bell; step-daughter, Betty Whitlock and great granddaughter, Kathryn E. Schmidt.
He was a member of Briar Creek Baptist Church, Brounland and retired from Jefferds Corporation and UMW.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Whitlock Bell; sons and spouses, Tony (Cheryl) and Tim (Timyle) Bell all of South Charleston; daughters and spouses, Joyce (Eric) McAllister of Chantilly, VA; Karen ( Hayden) Gray of Tallahassee, FL; step-sons and spouses, Joel Mack (Sandra) Whitlock of Alum Creek, Jim Whitlock of Texas, David (Janice) Whitlock of South Charleston; five brothers, Radith Lee “Shorty” and Kenny both of South Chazleston, Sanford “Satchel” of Sproul, Rondal and Dennie of Alum Creek, two sisters, Phyllis Harrison ofDunbar and Eloise Dunlap of Alum Creek, granddaughter, Mary Alice and husband, John Schmidt and their son, Tristan; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren.

Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 17, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Tommy Roberts and Rev. Al Mendez officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Ruth retired from the Ohio Public Employees System after many years of home care of seniors.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gail Catalano of East Brunswick, NJ; three sons and their wives, Conrad and Phyllis Fitzwater of South Chazleston, Gary and Jan Fitzwater of Panama City Beach, FL, Phillip and Sandy Fitzwater of South Chazleston; sister, Wanda Kaneday of Winfield; five brothers, Eugene and Wilmer Creech ofAlum Creek; William and Donald Creech of Thornville, OH, Alvin Creech of Avon Park, FL; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 10`h, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with the Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Chazletton. Friends may call one hour prior to service on Monday at the funeral home.

He is retired from Libby Owens Ford Glass, a WWII Army veteran and was an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Essie Pauley and son, Odie C. Pauley, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Donahoe Pauley; son, Mark Pauley and wife, Ann of Cross Lanes; daughter, Myra Pauley of Elkview; sisters, Dona Phillps of Waynetown, IN, Athlene Tackett of Sumerco, Helen Moore of Elkview, Emma White of Crosby, TX, Jenny Lewis of Belle; brothers, William Pauley of Griffithsville, Arthur Pauley of Sumerco, Otto Pauley, Jr., of Alum Creek; two grandsons, Codie and Josh Pauley; one granddaughter, Bethany Smith; three great grandchildren.
