Geneva Hope Runnion Sheppard, 75, of South Charleston departed this world to be with her Lord and loved ones after an extended illness on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Holley Lee “Jack” Sheppard; great grandson Joey Roberts of South Charleston; brothers, Clyde Runnion and Lovell McCune both of Roane County.

She was a former employee of Fields 5 & 10, South Charleston, and Ryans Restaurant, Alum Creek. She was a member of Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her: Daughter: Patricia Roberts of South Charleston, with whom she lived; 2 Sons and daughters-in-law: Randy and Mary Sheppard of South Charleston Gary and Carol Sheppard; 1 Sister and brother-in-law: Opal and Orville Jones of Akron, OH; 10 Grandchildren 4 Great Grandchildren Several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 10, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Pazk,South Charleston. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Carolyn Keeney Cummings

Carolyn Keeney Cummings, 59, of Coral Springs, Florida, formerly of Spring Hill, West Virginia, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at University Hospital Emergency Room, Tamarac, Florida after a short illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Berch and Goldie Keeney brother, Lany Keeney, and sister, Phyllis Ann Keeney.

Carolyn managed the Pride and Joy Children’s Shop in Spring Hill and was a member of Amy Baptist, Yawkey.

She is survived by her husband Dick, and son Scott, both of Coral Springs, Florida.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Friday, October 10, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Chester Bird officiating. Burial will be held in Orchazd Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Nellie McCallister Hanks, 93, of Sod died Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Lincoln Continuous Care in Hamlin after a long illness.

She was a homemaker and a member of Sumerco Church of God.

She is survived by her sister: Artena Matthews of Sod; several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Richard McCallister & Pastor Mike Kordusky officiating. Burial will be in Midkiff Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Betty Jane Egnor, 78, of Alkol died Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at CAMC Memorial Division after a brief illness.

She was a retired clerk of the Lincoln County Clerks Office, Hamlin. A member of Left Fork Baptist Church, Alkol.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard & Mary Miller; sister, Opal Thurmond; brother, Billy Miller and Grandson, Jody L. Egnor.

She is survived by: Husband: James S. Egnor, Jr.;2 Sons &daughters- in-law: Roger J. & Margaret Egnor of Middletown, OH; Jerry L. &Judy Egnor of Alum Creek;
2 Brothers: Dorsey and Don Miller both of Alkol; 2 Sisters: Mildred Adkins and Anna Gae Hazless both of Alkol; 4 Grandchildren: Robin Egnor, Terri Zirkle, Misty Richmond & Travis Richmond; 2 Great Grandchildren: Lindsey &Taylor Zirkle.

He was a retired operator for Chemical Processing Co. in Kentucky.
