Rachel Louise Hager, 74, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Mercy Franciscan Hospital, Cincinnati, after a long illness.

She is survived by: Daughter: Camala Hanson of OK; Son: Charles Dewey Hager of Cincinnati, OH; Brothers: Theodore Lively of South Charleston, WV; Joseph Lively of South Charleston, WV; Sisters: Eula Howerton of South Charleston, WV; Linda Johnson of Tampa, FL; 4 Grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at noon today at Lively Cemetery, South Charleston. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek in charge of arrangements.

Enola Bennett Parsons

Enola Bennett Parsons, 91, of Riverview Towers in St Albans, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Teays Center in Hurricane after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roy Parsons and was a member of the Walnut Street Freewill Baptist Church in St Albans.

She is survived by: 2 Sons and daughters-in-law: Gene and Ann Parsons; Carl and Sandi Parsons all of Hurricane; 11 Grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; also surviving: Former daughter-in-law, Helen Hall Parsons of St Albans.

Services will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Rev. William L. Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Sophia Ina Smith

Sophia Ina Smith, 84, of Alum Creek, passed away July 5, 2003, after an extended illness.

Sophia was a member of the Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Alum Creek, a wonderful homemaker and mother.

Born December 3, 1918, at Island Creek, she was a life long resident of Alum Creek, Lincoln County. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Logania Dunlap. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Allen Smith, eldest son, Harold V. Smith, a grandson, John Scott Smith, and eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and June Smith, Charles and Linda Smith, Gary and Valerie Smith, all of Alum Creek; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dazlene and Dauid Brumfield of Yawkey, and Mary Lynn and Randy Pennington of Alum Creek; a special daughter-in-law, Ann Smith Atwater of Clermont, Florida;l0 Grandchildren, 14 Great-grandchildren and one loving sister Charmie Lewis of Alum Creek.

Special thanks to Hospice for their sincere care and compassion.

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman and the Rev. Butch Leadman officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek. Friend may call on Monday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

G.V. Lipscomb, 75, of Alum Creek died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at CAMC General Division after a long illness.

He worked as a dispatcher for 37 years at Union Carbide, South Charleston. He was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church, St. Albans. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

He is survived by: Wife of 55 yeazs Marjorie Runyan Lipscomb; Daughter: Monta Lipscomb Boggs of Chazleston Son: Jerry W. Lipscomb of Charleston; Mother: Elnora Lipscomb of Charleston; Sister and brother-in-law: Evelyn and Ennis Waddoups of Beatty, OR; Brothers and sister-in-law: Hewitt and Cazolyn Lipscomb of Arabi, GA Clazence Lipscomb of Medford, OR; 2 Grandson: J.D. &Timmy Boggs 2 Great Granddaughters: Siena & Tierra Boggs 1 Great Great Grandson: Matthew Boggs

Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 7`” at Curry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Cyphers and Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Sylvia Conner Chandler Moore, 88, of Alum Creek, died June 3, 2003 in Heartland of Charleston after an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Hubert E. and Ida Page Conner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert F. Moore; brothers, Clarence B. Conner and Woodrow W. Conner.

Sylvia was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Charleston. She also was in the Eastern Star, Chapter #133, Dunbar.

She is survived by: Son and his wife: Patrick and Diana Ann Chandler of Alum Creek; Granddaughter: Marsha L. Chandler of Alum Creek; Sisters: Mrs. Luella Arthur of Charleston; Mrs. Rosalyn “Dunk” McClung of St. Albans; Mrs. Gladys Wilson and Mrs. Gail Bennett both of Charleston; several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Rev. Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Conner Cemetery, Charleston. Friends may call from 7 to 9 Friday at the funeral home with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 PM. The family would like to thank all at Heartland of Charleston.
