Rev. Arvil Smith, 68 of Alum Creek, West Virginia died Saturday, October 7, 2000 at his home after a long illness.

He was a retired inspector for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, and had pastored several Kanawha county area churches including Diamond Baptist and Handley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Everett &Eliza Brumfield Smith.

He is survived by his wife: Sue J. Bowen Smith; 1 Son: Jon D. Smith of Charleston, W V; 2 Daughters: Cindie King-Gilpen ofElkview, WV; Kathy Jones-Roberts of Melbourne, FL; 2 Sisters: Myrtle Dragoo of Griffithsville, WV; Annie Chandler of Yawkey, WV; 8 grandchildren: Nathan, Joey, Thad, Miranda, Lindsey, Sam, Jamie & Caleb; Many nieces & nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at the Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, with Pastor David Cyphers officiating. Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call from 6 to 9 PM on Monday at the funeral home.

Jonathon David Gaige White, 5 days old of Yawkey, died Sunday, November 5, 2000 at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, from heart complications.

He is survived by his: Parents: Russel Strickland and Bambie White; Maternal Grandparents: Juanita Porter of Sumerco, WV; Jerry White of Portsmouth, VA; Paternal Grandmother and Step-Grandfather: Virginia and Brian Krebs ofElkview, WV; Maternal Great Grandmothers: Faye McCallister of Sumerco, WV; Elma White of Alum Creek, WV; Paternal Great Grandfather: Henry Perdue of Alum Creek, WV.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2000 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Richard McCallister and Pastor Butch Loftis officiating. Burial will be held in Midkiff Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends may call on Tuesday one prior to the service.

Virginia Spruce Lett, 101 of Alum Creek, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at home after a short illness.

She is surived by her: 1 Daughter: Peggy Childress of Alum Creek, WV; 1 Sister: Margaret Spruce Ridinger of FL; 1 Grandson: Steven Wayne Childress of Alum Creek, WV; 1 Great Grandson: Steven Wayne Childress II of IL.

A memorial service will be held at Morris Memorial Methodist Church, Charleston on Saturday, October 7, 2000 at 2:00 PM with Pastor James Holtsclaw officiating. Friends may visit with family after service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Morris Memorial Methodist Church Building Fund.

Ada Jane McCallister, 53 of St. Albans, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at Gallipolis, Ohio from injuries received in an automobile accident.

She was a driver for a car transportation business for the past 10 years and was a member of the Moose Club #868 in St. Albans.

She is survived by her: Husband: Clifton; 3 Daughters: Rose Tackett of St. Albans, WV; Tammy Fisher of South Hills, WV; Tina McCallister at home; 2 Sons: Dale Fisher of Sod, WV; Roy Lloyd of St. Albans, WV; Mother: Rosie Hamilton of Sod; 7 Sisters: Lucille Warner of Key Largo, FL; Adalene Bryant of LA; Aretta Armstrong of Columbus, OH; Donna Olson ofBrounland, WV; Dazie Propst of LA; Shirley Myers of AZ; Janece Suttle of Sumerco, WV; 3 Brothers: David McCallister of Sod, WV; Boe Dunlap of Sod, WV; Lewis McCallister of St. Albans, WV; 9 Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Sunday, October 8, 2000 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will beheld in Midkiff Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends may call on Saturday, October 7, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Erma Mae Dragoo

Erma Mae Dragoo, 82, of Yawkey died Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at the home of her sister, Dora Jeffery of St. Albans, WV, after a short illness.

She was a retired beautician and owner of Art Supplies in South Orange, New Jersey. She was a member of WACS -during WWII. A 1937 graduate of Duval High School, Griffithsville, WV.

She is also survived by her: Sisters: Inis McCallister of Griffithsville, WV Zulema Jaynes of Griffrthsville, WV Georgia Dragoo of New Jersey Myrtle Alford of Teays Valley, WV; 1 Brother: Oscar Dragoo of Griffithsville, WV; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 5, 2000 at 11:00 AM at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call Wednesday, October 4, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
