Junior “Buddy” McCallister, 85, of Griffithsville passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

Buddy was a retired union painter and a 60-year member of Union Local 970. He was a member of Duval Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy McCallister; parents, Guy and Inis Dragoo McCallister; siblings, Thelma Phelps, Maxine Nunn, Nellie Mitchell, Erma Welch, Mary Pollard, and Denver “Buck” McCallister.

Buddy is survived by his children, Joey McCallister and Kristen (Terry) Thompson; grandchildren, Megan (Scott) Bays, Owen and Hudson Thompson, Triston McCallister; great grandson, Kole Bays; siblings, Sylvia Bird, Bill (Linda) McCallister, and Sue (Butch) Griffith.

Graveside service will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Isaiah Hatfield officiating. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.

Doris Kidd Roberts

Doris Kidd Roberts, 92, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House West. 

She attended Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church all her life, where she sang in the choir.  She worked at G. C. Murphy in South Charleston for 41 years. 

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Roberts; parents, Dexter and Mildred Kidd; son, Greg Nunn; brothers, Ronald and Calvin Kidd. 

Left to miss her greatly is her niece, Dottie Bladen and her husband, Dale.

Service will be 11:00am, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Clyde Gwin officiating. Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek.  Visitation will begin at 10:30am. 

Special thanks to her caregivers, Nancy Matthews, Virginia Gillenwater, and Michelle Means. 

Larry Allen Tackett

Larry Allen Tackett, 81, of Yawkey went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 27, 2025, at WVU Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Larry was a member of Alum Creek Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon for over 40 years. He was a retired science teacher, teaching at Washington District Jr. High and Andrew Jackson Middle School.  He was a 1961 graduate of Duval High School, earned his bachelor’s degree from WV State College, and his Master’s of Secondary Science from College of Graduate Studies. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Martha Owen Tackett.

Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlene Tackett; children, Dr. Jason (Missy) Tackett, Amber (Andy) Kinder, and Justin (Johnna) Tackett; grandchildren, Aiden and Bailey Tackett, Reece Tackett, Shane (Autumn) Wells, Codie (Danica) Wells, Rylie Wells, Alyssa (Eric) Jackson, Laci (Seth) Kimberly; great grandchildren, Levi Wells, Addie Jackson, Grayson Jackson; brother, Louie (Reda) Tackett.

Larry loved his family fiercely.  He had a special bond with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He never knew a stranger and enjoyed telling stories to his family and friends. He loved to sing, especially gospel hymns and made God a priority in his life. He was a good man, loved by his family and friends. 

Visitation will begin at 1:00pm and the service will be 3:00pm, Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home with Minister Joseph Watts officiating.  Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  

Princess Cassy Bays, 40, of Tornado, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at CAMC – General.

She was a 2004 St. Albans High School Graduate and attended Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church. She also attended the International Sports Jamboree at North Bend State Park for at least 32 years. Her final gift was a donation of 2 kidneys, now others can live on because of her.

Cassy is survived by her grandmother, Ilona Walton Bays, parents, Cameron & Twylla Worstell Bays, sisters, Tiffany Burns (Steven), Kaylla Bays (Traz Dawson), and Alyssa Brogan (Brandon) and a very special friend, Kim Minney. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Jacob Burns (Alexis Slater), Cameron Bays, Mason Burns, Adalyn and Grayson Dawson, Oaklynn Brogan, and Great Neice Delilah Allagas, many aunts, uncles, and countless cousins. Cassy was the most precious young lady who touched so many lives in her 40 years. Now she is dancing with Jesus in Heaven.

Service will be 1:00pm Thursday, March 27, 2025, with Pastor Daniel Dent officiating. Burial will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ramona Diane Rowley

Ramona Diane Rowley, 67, of Dunbar, WV, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV. She is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Betty Coleman Fauber, brothers, Tommy Coleman, Tim Fauber, sister, Carolyn Brown and daughter, Angela Marie Keener.

Ramona was raised in Spencer, WV, and was a Spencer High School graduate. She was a former employee of Kelwood Sweater Factory, CNA working at Eldercare Nursing Home, Ripley and then retired from Home Health Care in Kanawha County.

She is survived by her children, Junior Keener (Juliette), Jennifer Ward (Ranson II), and Steven Keener (Courtney Monk) and brothers, David Fauber, Robert Fauber and Greg Fauber (Penny). She is also survived by her sisters, Debbie Fields, Sheila Miller (Robert), and Mary Jane Spence (William), half-sister, Deborah Bernstein, and grandchildren, Allyson Keener, Raina Keener, step-grandchild, Brittany Gandee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, her best friend, Roberta Bateman and her cat, Pebble.

Service will be 6:00pm, Friday, March 28, 2025, at Oakwood Baptist Church with Pastor David Moutz officiating. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ninnon Pauley

Ninnon Pauley, 89, of Charleston, WV, formerly of Alum Creek and Sumerco, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 23, 1925, at CAMC – Hospice.

She was born on March 26, 1935. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy and son, Roy Raymond Pauley, and parents, Bernice Raymond and Dollie Dotson McCallister.

Ninnon was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and a 50-year former member of Morrisvale Baptist Church.

She is survived by her cousin, Brenda Meadows; niece, Jane Searls; sisters, Renee Hager and Charlotte Johnson; nephew, Ronnie Bailey.

Service will be 1:00pm Wednesday, March 26, 2025, which is her first birthday in Heaven, at Curry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Cooper officiating. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, WV.

Stella S. Cecil

Stella Cecil, 92, of Sod went home to be with Lord Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

Stella was a homemaker, a child of God, a member of Christian Outreach Church of Alum Creek, and her family was her life.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Dale Pauley and Odell Cecil; infant sons, Gary Wayne Pauley and Michael Gene Cecil; granddaughters, Erin Nicole Pauley, Mechelle Pauley, and Jamie; great granddaughter, LillyAnna Hoffman.

Stella is survived by her children, Gail (Clenton) Curry, Kenneth (Brenda) Pauley, Kevin (Drema) Pauley, Kenton (Treassa) Cecil, Dennis Cecil, and Kim (Angie) Cecil; brothers, Zennith Bragg, Stanley Bragg, and Clenton (Dora) Bragg; sisters, Janice Midkiff and Connie Raines; grandchildren, Stacey Schoderbek, Brian (Joy) Curry, Kenny Jr. (Marissa) Pauley, Breaunna Pauley, Khloe Pauley, Kendra Pauley, Steffanie Pauley, Nikida (Lance) Aldridge, Parker (Emily) Pauley, Candita (Chris) Chandler, Janelle Cecil, Casey Cecil, Kaleb (Caitlyn) Cecil, Bethany (Nathan) Mitchem, Kaitlyn Belcher, Olivia (Luke) Hoffman; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Service will be 2:00pm, Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastors Kenneth Pauley and Kenton Cecil officiating. Burial will follow at Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mary Kathryn Pauley

Mary Kathryn Pauley, 94, of Charleston passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Marmet Center.

Mary was born in Olcott, WV and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; parents, Wallace and Rose Kelley Jackson; son, Timothy Pauley; daughter, Belinda Pauley and several brothers.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Gunita Hill, and Denise Brown; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Mary will be laid to rest in a private service at Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek.

Harold Ray Kuhn, II

Harold Ray Kuhn II, 63, of South Charleston, WV, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

He was a cook at Heart of Town Restaurant in Charleston and was a “maître d” at the Mardi Gras Casino and Resort.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Louise and Mark Thaxton.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no service. Burial will be at the Family Cemetery, South Charleston, WV.

Marvin Glendale McClure

Marvin Glendale McClure, 89, of Yawkey went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at home.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, grandson, Elijah Priestley, parents, Glen & Gladys Worstell McClure and all of his siblings.

Marvin was a 1952 graduate of Duval High School, retired electrician from DuPont, and served in the Army National Guard.  He was a faithful Christian and member of Alum Creek Church of Christ. He had many unique hobbies including motorcycle riding, owning and flying his own plane, snow skiing, roller skating and he was also a very talented colorblind artist.

He is survived by his daughters, Sharee McClure, Tammy (Joseph) Vickers, Jill (Keith) Craig, Elizabeth (Ronnie) McClure and Bruce (Kim) Cook who was like a son to Marvin.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home with Minister Joseph Watts officiating and a private burial will follow at the McClure Family Cemetery, Yawkey.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service
