Pearl Vickers Egnor, 93, of Pt. Pleasant, formerly of Olcott, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Pleasant Valley Rehabilitation Center, Pt. Pleasant after a long illness.

She was a former employee of Nutrition Services at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio, and The Masonic-Eastern Star Home in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was a member of The Gospel Lighthouse Church in Pt. Pleasant.

Pearl was the daughter of the late Ed and Bertha Smoot Vickers of Alkol and was also preceded in death by her husband Gifford ,and sons, Jackie and Bobby.

She is survived. by her: Sons: Dwaine and wife, Mona, of St Albans; Buddy of Pt Pleasant; Max and wife, Norma, of Hurricane; Daughters: Patsy Adkins and husband, Charles Edward, of Pt Pleasant; Nadine Blansett and husband, Kenneth, of Placentia, CA; Jackie Cantley and husband, Walter, of Oxford, NC; Judy Kelford and husband, Ross, of Greensboro, NC; Karen Qualls of Mission Viejo, CA; 18 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren
1 Sister: Lillian Fox of East Lake, OH.

Services will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 17, 2001 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Rev. Bobby Woods officiating. Burial will be in Egnor Family Cemetery, Bulger. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Thelma L. White, 80, of Yawkey died Saturday, June 9, 2001 at CAMC Memorial Division after a short illness.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of Amy Baptist Church, Yawkey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer White and son, Richard White.
She is survived by:

Donald Ray Mullins

Donald Ray Mullins, 64 of Griffithsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 7, 2001 after a long illness.

He was a retired pipefitter from F.M.C. at Institute and a member of Amy Baptist Church, Yawkey, where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his: Wife: Shirley; 2 Daughters: Debbie McCormick of Griffithsville; Karen Hall of Griffithsville; 3 Grandchildren: Heather Rae McCormick, Lauren Hall, Jacob Hall;2 Brothers: Randall and Mike Mullins both of St. Albans.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, June 9, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Oshel Bell and Pastor Gary Hall officiating. Burial will beheld in Orchazd Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Friday, June 8, 2001 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. O. “Jack” Gillian, 75 of St. Albans, died Saturday, June 2, 2001 at CAMC General Division after a short illness.

He was retired from Carbide Institute Plant where he was a rigger. He was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church where he was also was a member of the choir. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy. He was a Navy veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his: 2 Sons: David Michael Gillian of Cross Lanes, WV’ Matthew Richmond Gillian of Hohenwald, TN; 4 Daughters: Lisa Gillian Simmons of Thailand; Julie Ann Gillian of St. Albans, WV; Amy Jo Jarrett of St. Albans, WV; Emily Gillian Boles of St. Albans, WV; 1 Sister: Ramona A. McMillion of Sandstone, WV; 2 Brothers: Earl E. “Brook” Gillian of Las Vegas, NV; Tom C. Gillian of Beckley, WV; 12 Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Highlawn Baptist Church, St. Albans, on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dr. Joe Hyde officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM at Richmond Cemetery, Sandstone. Friends may call on Monday, June 4, 2001 at Highlawn Baptist Church from 7 to 9 PM. Marjorie Ruth Lewis, 79 of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2001.

She was a former hairdresser for the Diamond Department Store and a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, St. Albans. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Lewis.

She is survived by: Son: David Kyle and daughter-in-law, Judy Lynn Lewis of St. Albans, WV; Brother: Bill Young and sister-in-law, JoAnn of St. Albans, WV; Grandson: Joshua David Lewis of St. Albans, WV; Granddaughter: Emily Marie Lewis of St. Albans, WV; Godson: Jeff Whitman of St. Albans, WV; Step-sons: Gary Lewis of Nitro, WV Larry Lewis of St. Albans, WV; Step-daughter: Donna Bird of St. Albans, WV; 4 Step-Grandchildren 3 Step-Great Grandchildren.

Ronald L. Holstine, 82 of Emmons, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at CAMC General Division after a long illness.

He was born April 21, 1919 and retired from the UMWA and the state of West Virginia. He also attended the Emmons Church of God.

He is survived by his: Wife: Ruby; 5 Sons: William, Lovell and Charles Holstine of Emmons; Floyd Holstine of Nitro; Teddy Holstine of Ridgeview;
3 Daughters: Vivian and Rachel Holstine of Nitro; Patti DiDonato of Pittsburgh, PA; 3 Sisters: Ida Estep of Rumble; Mary Ellen Holstein of Danville; Ruby Alice Cantley of Alum Creek; 22 Grandchildren; 25 Great-Grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, June Z, 2001 at 2:30 PM at Dartmont Freewill Baptist Church, Dartmont with Rev. F. A. Giles officiating. Burial will be at Barker Cemetery, Ashford. Friends may call Friday, June 1, 2001 from 7 to 9 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Opal Gillespie Dotson

She was a homemaker and attended the Alum Creek Church of the Nazarene.

Jimmie E. Mosteller

Jimmie E. Mosteller, 57, of Sod, died Thursday, May 24, 2001 in Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a short illness.

He was an employee of Mountain Edge Mining, a member of the UMWA, Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department where he was assistant chief, first responder and on the scuba search and rescue team. He was a former member of the Westside Volunteer Fire Department, a driver for the Duval Ambulance Authority, past president of the Garretts Bend Community Center and member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.

He is survived by his: Wife: Sandy; 1 Son: Keith of Mesa, AZ; 1 Daughter: Keta Harper of Alum Creek, WV; 2 Grandchildren: Nicholas and Danielle Harper 3 Brothers: Donald “DUCK”, Billy and Mike all of Garretts Bend, WV.

Graveside service and burial will be held in Mosteller-Yoder cemetery, Tornado on Sunday, May 27, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Richard McCallister officiating. There will be no visitation. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a fire department, church or charity of your choice. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of arrangements.

Opal Escue McClure Pauley, 93 of Tango, has gone to be with the Lord. Opal passed away at her home after a long illness on Friday, May 18, 2001.

Opal was born June 18, 1907 at Tornado, Kanawha county, West Virginia and was one of two daughters born of the late Hubert and Dora Escue who moved from Kanawha county to Lincoln county back in 1909. Opal was a faithful Christian and the oldest living member of Joe’s Creek Baptist Church. Also, Opal was a retired school teacher with 51 years of service with the Lincoln county school system. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Foster McClure and her sister Alice Morrell.

She is survived by her: Husband: Robert A. Pauley, Sr. 1 Niece: Madora Goode of Sugar Tree, WV; 1 Great Niece: Carolyn Shirley of Springfield, OH; 1 Great Nephew: Johnny Goode of Goose Creek, SC; 1 Great Great Niece: Heather Shirley of Springfield, OH: 1 Great Great Nephew: Brandon Shirley of Springfield, OH.

Services will be held at Joe’s Creek Baptist Church on Monday, May 21, 2001 at 2 PM with Pastor Carl Lester Bell officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Sunday, May 20, 2001 from 6 to 8 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.
