Nancy Lee, 65, of Garretts Bend died Friday, April 21, 2006 at the home of her daughter, Roxanna Lee after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee.

She was a cook for Lincoln County Schools, serving 36 years at Garretts Bend and Midway Elementary Schools.

She is survived by her son, Charles, Jr., of Tango; granddaughter, Olivia Lee; close friend, Rose Couch; sister, Ila McCallister; four brothers, Alfred, Alex, Mike and Danny Hill.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 24, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Richard Ruby officiating. Burial will be in Garrett Cemetery, Garretts Bend. Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Jeffrey A. Hammack, 43, of Sumerco, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV.

He was formerly in the Marine Corp., and was a paramedic with Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority.

Doshia Mae Wade McClure, 91, of Griffithsville, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at home after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sparrel Francis and Hattie Burns Wade; husband, Cline B. McClure; sisters, Beulah Chaney and Ruth Adkins; brothers, Toney, Jesse, Raymond, and Luther Wade.

She was a member of Griffithsville Church of Christ and a life long resident of Lincoln County. Doshia was a seamstress – quilter for Mountain Artisans, quilted in Macy’s window in New York City, and made two quilts for Jay Rockefeller’s home in the West Virginia mountains.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Gary and Marion McClure, Dwight and Janet McClure; two grandsons and wives, Ronnie and Teresa McClure, John and Melissa McClure; one great grandson, Matthew McClure and one great granddaughter, Ashley McClure all of Griffithsville

The family wants to give a special thank you to caregivers, Barbara Linville, Dottie Gillispie, Tammy Beeman, Sue Short and Christine Poole.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Rd., Alum Creek, with Minister Murrel McKinney officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Byrd Daniels, 91, of Yawkey went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in So Charleston after a long illness.

He was a retired coal miner, a faithful member of Eden Baptist Church at Griffithsville and was preceded in death by his wife, Orpha.

He is survived by:

Janice Lee Lewis McNiel, 67, of Charleston, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, after long illness.

She was a Christian and was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur A. and Martha Jordan Lewis.

She is survived by her uncle, Don A. Lewis of South Charleston; friend, Mary Hull of Hurricane.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at The Seventh Day Adventist Church, 622 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV with Pastor Richard Cavaness officiating. Burial will be in Adkins Cemetery , Charleston. Curry Funeral Home at Alum Creek is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Johnson “Brother” Wheeler, 75, of Sumerco, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 surrounded by family and friends at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness.

He was a retired auto body repairman from Danny Harmon Body Shop in St. Albans and a long time member and deacon of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by:

Danny L. Turley

Danny L. Turley, 66 of Charleston, went to rest Thursday, March 9, 2006, after a long hard battle with diabetes.

He was a 1957 graduate of Duval High School, Griffithsville, a former employee of Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock in Virginia and was a longtime loyal employee for the city of Charleston and the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge #153 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple.

Danny loved trout fishing, hunting and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Ada (Granny) Turley, Stone and May Nunn, and his father, Clarence Jackson Turley.

He is survived by his mother, Nina Turley of Alum Creek; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Deborah Turley of Pinch; sister, Margaret Perkins and husband Dean of Scott Depot; brother, David J. Turley of Woodland Park, CO; three grandchildren, Richard and Daniel Turley and CJ Trent; and many other family and friends.

Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor David Cyphers officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites conducted by Charleston Masonic Lodge #153 will be at Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek.

The family would like to express a special thanks to his caregiver, Rick Aliff and to his devoted friend, Donna Thaxton for their many hours of support and friendship. We would also like to thank Central WV Aging Services, Panhandle Support Services, CAMC General Emergency department, St. Francis Hospital and the Charleston paramedics.
