Adene Faye Barker

Adene Faye Barker, 74, of Alum Creek, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 17, 2023, peacefully at home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert & Juanita Cobb Moore, sisters, Karen Rhodes Dunlap, Genava Miller and Adelene Moore, and brothers, Carl and Clark Rhodes, Guy, Kurt and Hilbert Moore.

She is survived by her husband, Emory, sons, David (Christine) Vickers, Tampa, FL, and Timothy Brian (Sandra) Vickers, El Paso, TX, daughter, Marlena Vickers, Alum Creek, brothers, Billy (Ellen) Moore, Alum Creek, Robert Moore (Michael Knight), Charlotte, NC, sister, Mary Elizabeth Griffith, and two grandchildren, Ryan and Kevin Vickers.

Adene attended Duval High School and she retired as a baker at Sam’s Club, Southridge.

Service will be 1:00pm Friday, December 22, 2023, at Curry Funeral Home Chapel with family and friends sharing memories and anecdotes. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston, WV.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jo Ann Walls

Jo Ann Walls, 80, of Alkol passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Boone Memorial Hospital.

She was a 1962 graduate of Duval High School and a former employee of Glover Clinic and Dr. Watson’s office in Madison.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Oral and Dona Stone Clark; granddaughter, Meagan Ann Katherine Blosser; brothers, Jackie, Harold, Ralph, Tommy, and Ronnie; sister, Jean Newman.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jimmy; son, Mark (Rita) Walls; daughter, Melissa Walls; grandchildren, Mark Lee (Melissa), Heather & Josh; great grandchildren, Payton, Tyler, Ethan, Jacob, Zachary, Stephanie, Sage, Ashton, David, Cohen, Graison, Jackson, & Easton; great grandchildren, Sienna, Noah, & Damion; sister, Anna Lea Smith; also, many nieces and nephews.

Her wishes were to be cremated and there will be no services.

Bonnie Jean Runyan

Bonnie Jean Runyan “Mama Boo”, 80, of Alum Creek, WV, went to be with the heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, and reunite with her son, Joey and the love of her life, Kenneth of 63 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William & Helen Hudson Goff, and brothers, Franklin, Bob, and Gary Goff.

She was a member of the Alum Creek Church of Christ. Bonnie was known for serving and caring for others and always being gracious to everyone. She was owner/ operator of Bonnie’s Beauty Shop at Alum Creek.

She is survived by her son, Jerry (Penny), daughter, Julie Meikle and her special gal, Kristi (diamond Jim) Pritt. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wesley (Tamy), Adam (Jennifer), Michael (Carrie), Cala, Zachary, and great-grandchildren, Mason, Gavin, Daisy, Joey, Addison, Kylie, Brady, Gunner, and Bennett and sister, Ginny (David) Hunt.

Service will be 2:00pm Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Curry Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Joseph Watts and Charlie McKinney officiating. Burial will follow at the Lively Cemetery, Sod, WV.

Family & friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W., Charleston, WV 25387.

Lloyd Lester Myers

Lloyd Lester Myers, 81, of South Charleston, WV, passed away peacefully holding Charlene’s hand Friday December 8, 2023, at home.

He was a long-time sales manager at C. H. James Produce and later worked for WVDOH, City of Charleston and Quick Delivery. Lloyd loved politics and was instrumental in many political campaigns, in fact, he enjoyed nothing more than debating all matters regarding politics. Lloyd thoroughly enjoyed gardening and was well known for his large, beautiful gardens and his abundant produce. His love for baseball was shown by his lifelong work with the Mountaineer Little League, where he worked alongside many building fields and coaching hundreds of kids.

Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Lester Myers and Opal and Pearl Dotson; daughter, Kimberly Ann; grandmother, Octavia Gillispie, several siblings and ex-wife, Ella Myers.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene; children, Les Myers (Liz), Laura (Steve) Marker, Melissa (Todd) Kelly, Kristi (Mark) Justice, Allen (Marcy) Hackney; 14 grandchildren, Kennedi, Benjamin, Samantha, Alex, Ariel, Dalten, Addisyn, Kash, Baby girl on the way, Shawana, Alli, Dakota, Bria and Nikki; great grandchildren, Slayton and Marleigh; brothers, Laymond & Tony Myers, sisters, Kay (Mike) McClung and Carolyn (Arl) Pauley; brothers-in-law, Bob Hill, Lenzy Meickles, and Ralph Kelley; sisters-in-law, Becky Phipps, Gloria Bautista and Rita Gladwell; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Rev. Tom Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Meagan Ann Katherine Blosser

Meagan Ann Katherine Blosser, 33, of Alum Creek, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Oral O’Dell and Mildred Katherine Caldwell.

She was a 2008 graduate of Sherman High School and loved to crochet and she attended New Covenant Baptist Church. She was a true boy Mom, always loved taking her boys to sporting events, yelling the loudest to the point of embarrassing them at times and was their biggest cheerleader.

She is survived by her husband, Jason Blosser, her three sons, Graison Caldwell, Jackson Robinson and Easton Blosser.

She is also survived by her mother, Melissa Walls and father, Terry Caldwell (Stephanie, Kate, and Emma), brother, Joshua Caldwell, and grandparents, Jimmy & JoAnn Walls, mother and father-in-law, Jim & Beth Blosser, brother-in-law, Jacob, sister-in-law, Jaime Blosser, and many nieces and nephews and extended family. A special thanks to Heather Walls for all her love and support.

Service will be 2:00pm Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Curry Funeral Home with Pastors Jody Pauley and Bruce Copley officiating. Burial will follow at Clark Cemetery, Alkol, WV. Family & friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Patrick Gene Woodrum

Patrick Gene Woodrum, 58, of Yawkey passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at home.

Patrick was a graduate of Duval High School and was a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dollie and Rosemary Holstein Woodrum; sister, Cynthia Huffman; and father-in-law, Joe Estep.

Patrick is survived by his wife of 33 years, Britt Estep Woodrum; son, Kirk Patrick Woodrum; sisters, Judy (David) Shubert of Texas, Kathy Daniels of Charleston, and Rebecca Boggs of North Carolina.

Patrick will be cremated and services are private.

Spence Woodrum

Spence Woodrum, 80, of Spurlocksville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Hillcrest Healthcare, Danville, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Holbert & Mamie McDilda Woodrum, sons, Lee, Allen, and Harrison, and brothers, Harold, Bobby, Rexal and Elgus, and sisters, Patty and Deanie.

He worked for Department of Natural Resource for 17 years and was a member of Red Tool House Church.

Spence is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mona Harris Woodrum, children, Tommy Woodrum, Lynn (Cotis) Adkins, and Timmy Woodrum. He is also survived by sisters, Barbara Smith and Linda Harris, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Graveside service will be 1:00pm Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Bear Branch Cemetery at Mud River, with Pastor Jerry Runion officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to offset funeral costs.

Michael G. “Mike” Mosteller

Michael G. “Mike” Mosteller, born August 29, 1954, in Charleston, WV, left his earthly home at Sod, WV, to be with his Heavenly Father and his earthly parents & brothers on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Mike was surrounded by his family and a life-long friend when he passed. His family meant the world to him.

Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie; his daughters, Christi (Mike) Clendenin, Misti (John Clark) Mosteller, & Anika (Willie) McCormick; his sons, Michael (Elizabeth) Mosteller II & Dustin (Archana) Mosteller; his grandchildren, Cierra (Eric), MacKenzie (Garrett), Michael Jr. (Emily), Tanner, Kylie (Joey), Will, Hunter, Lillian, Joel, Lacey (Mike), & Skyler; his great grandchildren, Liam, Daxton, Easton, Mia, Lyanna, Emma, Isabella, Grayson, & Saphira; his brother, Donald (Patricia); his father-in-law, William Graley; his sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Ron) Cummings, Saundra & Sheila; his brother-in-law, Bill Graley Jr.; daughter-in-law; Raeleen; and a host of family & friends. His best friend, Casper, a huskyhuahua, lay by his side until he passed over.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Emma (Brogan) Mosteller; brothers, Rodger, Jimmie, & Billy; his sister-in-law, Sultana Kay Graley; mother-in-law, Carol Sue (Fowler) Graley; and a father figure, Halley Mitchell.

Mike had a very interesting work life. He began as a youth working on neighboring farms. His first real job was with American Viscose (Avtex). He went on to work at the following places, owning some of them; Southwestern Engineering, Boilermaker Union jobs, Mullen Plumbing & Heating, McComas Plumbing & Heating (owner), Mountaineer Property Management (owner), Team Chevrolet (salesman), Joe Holland Chevrolet (sales, management, commercial/fleet sales, special finance & co-manager of used cars), Turnpike Chevrolet (sales, commercial/fleet sales), Bert Wolfe Ford (sales), WV Truck & Trailer (manager), Freedom Homes (sales), Lincoln PSD (manager), Mountaineer Utility Services (owner).

Mike was a 1972 graduate of Duval High School and was a part of the congregation of Nitro Church of God. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Boilermaker’s Union Local 667, served as PTO president at Garrett’s Bend Elementary School for several years, coached Little League baseball, was a volunteer firefighter with West Side VFD in St. Albans, drove for an ambulance service in St. Albans, was elected Justice of the Peace for Lincoln County, was on the Alum Creek VFD Board of Directors, and was a Notary Public in WV, among a few of the accomplishments throughout his lifetime.

His life-long friend, Keith “Spider” Torman will be sending him off at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, WV, at 2:00 pm, on Friday, December 8, 2023. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 pm. Burial will be at the Mosteller/Yoder Cemetery in Tornado, WV

Glenn Rogers Midkiff

Glenn Rogers Midkiff, 88, of Alum Creek, WV, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Hubbard Hospice – West, South Charleston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Golden and Ruth Ballard Midkiff, brothers, Jack, Don and Bill Midkiff and sister, Maxine Tyree.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janice, sons, Jerry (Joyce) Midkiff, Greg (Beany) Midkiff and Tim (Angela) Midkiff. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Glenn was a long time employee of Joe Holland Chevrolet Body Shop.

His request was to be cremated and no service. Burial will be at Midkiff Family Property, South Charleston, at a later date.

James Lee “Jim” Turley

James Lee “Jim” Turley, 87 of South Charleston passed away on November 25, 2023, at Hubbard Hospice House, South Charleston.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County and retired from Charleston Linen Service with 40 years of service. He was a 1955 graduate of Washington District High School. He loved to spend time outdoors, squirrel hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. He was an avid sports fan, especially the WV Mountaineers, The Pittsburgh Steelers, and Pirates.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Paul Turley and Ethel Loftis Midkiff; brother, Eugene Turley and sister Ravenelle Whittington.

Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years Nettie Rose Hartwell Turley, Daughter, Lisa Casto (Tim); son Timothy Turley (Janey), grandson, James Graley (Carmen), granddaughter, Leah Turley Frazier (Evan); great-granddaughter, Abbey Rose Graley and sisters; Nita Debord, Norma Blankenship, and Carol Linger.

A funeral service to honor the life of James Lee Turley will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Scott Beha officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
