Steven Foster Hoffman

Steven Foster Hoffman, 72, of South Charleston, WV passed away peacefully at home in the care of his loving family on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

Steve was a graduate of George Washington High School in Charleston, WV. He was a retired UMWA coal miner, with 20 years of service. He worked as a fire boss and mine foreman. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, telling jokes, and being a grandfather. He loved going on adventures and spent the last year checking things off his bucket list and making memories with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Freda Hoffman, as well as siblings, Norman Hoffman, Kenny Hoffman, Joyce Sanders, and Linda Smith.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ella Hoffman; children, Steven Hoffman II, Shannon Hoffman, and Christina Burns (Ryan); 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Connie Hawkins of Clarksburg and Carol Dudley of Hurricane; and many other beloved family members and friends.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at 1:00pm, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, WV with Susan Nelson officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston, WV.

Such a beautiful testimony of life… truer love no man has known… Ella and family display love that has deep roots and gentle hands, tender words with loving compassion… I’ve been praying for you, that His mercy and grace fill all the voids in Steve’s absence like a warm protective blanket of His Presence… many generations continue in his loving memories… I love each of you and rejoice with you that he’s waiting on “the other side” whole, healed and in great peace… Renee Bryant and family

You will be missed Steve, but I know that your kids will take good care of Ella for you. Ella we love you and are so sorry for your loss. I know he was the love of your Life and you were his . You had a beautiful bond and marriage that very few People are blessed to have . We are here for you Prayers for you and the family. He was a great man and a wonderful husband , father and Grandfather.

It’s a privilege to of known such a fine person. Steve was a blessing to all who knew him. A heart of gold and a sense of humor that no one could match. He was such a kind loving person and he will be missed.
