Mabel Loftis photoMable E. Loftis Woodrum, 88, of Sumerco went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Hubbard Hospice West in South Charleston.

She was a homemaker and attended the New Covenant Baptist Church in Alum Creek.

Mable was preceded in death by her son, Steve Loftis.

She is survived by  her sister, Tennie Pauley; brothers, Okey and Kessil (Shirley) Justice; and grandson, Michael Loftis.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastors Jackie Miller and Dwight McClure officiating.  Burial will follow at Midkiff Cemetery in Sumerco.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

Carolyn Sue McClure

Carolyn McClureCarolyn Sue McClure, 76, of Morgantown and formerly of Yawkey, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 17, 2017 after a short illness.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James; son, James Jr.; parents, Ernest and Ida Mae Ashworth; brothers, Grover Atlee, Russell Lee, Paul Y., and Lovell E. Ashworth; and sisters, Margaret Songer and Evelyn Evans.

Carolyn was retired from McClure  Company.  She was a Sunday School teacher and youth leader at Porter Fork and Amy Missionary Baptist Churches in Yawkey.  She was a long-time member of both.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Bill) Nestor of Morgantown; son, Jeff of Long Beach, CA; sister, Judith (Fred) Black of Madison, WV; brother, Charles (Louise) Ashworth of FL; grandsons, Remington McClure and Reese Nestor; granddaughters, Madison Walls and Morgan Walls; and special nephew, Joshua Allen, who was like a grandson.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Curry Funeral Home with Richard Ruby officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens at Yawkey.  The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Martha Kirk, 66, of South Charleston went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 15, 2017.

She served as Pastor of the Olcott Community Church for several years.

Martha was preceded in death by two husbands, Birt Hitchcock and Fenton Kirk.

She is survived by son, Michael Hitchcock; daughter, Misty Dawn; stepson, Billy Kirk; sisters, Alice (Dallas) Holstein, Wanda (Junior) Stewart, Regina Williams, Rose (Ronnie) Walls, Roxie (Gary) Eller and Becky (Larry) Thompson; brothers, Paul (Jennifer) Holstein, Joey (Becky) Holstein and Roger Holstein; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Gibson officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, South Charleston.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Donna AdkinsDonna Jean Adkins, 56, of Ridgeview went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017 at home with her family by her side.

She was employed at CAMC for 35 years.   Donna was a Christian, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Donna was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Pauley; brother, Johnnie Pauley, mother-in-law, Ethel Adkins; and nephews, Danny Raye and Bubby.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Andy; son, Andy “Dickie” Adkins of Ridgeview; daughter, Misti (Miguel) Urquidi of Kermit, TX; mother Emma Pauley, grandchildren, Ethan, Elijah, Alanna, Isabella, Penelope, Miguel Jr., Ellie and Gracie; brothers, Danny, Clyde and David (Lori) Pauley; sisters, Susan (Chuck) Baileys, Doris (Virgil) Sidwell and Betty (Robert) Blaylock.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the Emmons Church of God with Pastor Chuck Baileys officiating.  Burial will follow at the Kinder Cemetery in Costa.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek.

robert clark obitRobert Michael Clark, Sr., 49, son of Bill Clark and the late Annie Pat Clark, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Pat Clark.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Patty; sons, Robert, Jr. (Shawna) and Brandon (Cassi); daughter, Jordan (Mark); brother, David; sisters, Debbie and Tammy (Brad); and two grandchildren, Trace and Adayah, along with many family and friends who will greatly miss him.

The family would to express a heart felt thank you to a very special friend Melissa McClure and family for being there for Robert and his family.

A private graveside service will be held for family only.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Curry Funeral Home.

Ruth Clark ObitRuth M. Clark, 88, of Charleston went home to be with her Lord Friday, June 2, 2017 with the family by her side at Hubbard Hospice West in South Charleston.

She retired from the WV Department of Motor Vehicles after 33 years. Ruth was a member of the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene and was chosen the Queen of Bellaire for 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Howard Miller and brothers, Herbert and Curtis Miller.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Susan (Ken) Williams and Janet (Chuck) Atkins; 4 granddaughters Stephanie Williams, Kristen Atkins, Brooke Williams and Katelyn Gamble; and 3 great grandchildren Nancy, Kendyll and Carson Upper.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Sandy Burdette officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Davis Creek Church of Nazarene, 102 Nazarene Dr., South Charleston, WV 25309.

Mary ScottMary Ann Scott, 90, of Alum Creek, went to be with the Lord at home Sunday, May 28, 2017 surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ray Scott, daughter, Nona Faye Gonterman,

She was a former employee of St. Francis Hospital, a former member of New Life Ministries in Dunbar and currently attended McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Meddie Ray) Dunlap, sons, Ron (Delilah) Scott and Wayne (Sandra) Scott, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1st, at McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Isaiah Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott Family Cemetery Alum Creek.

Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospicecare 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W. Charleston, WV 25387-2536

 

 

Rodney Ray Pauley

Rodney Pauley Memorial Folder photoRodney Ray Pauley, 64, of Alum Creek went home peacefully Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his mother Agatha June Pauley, grandparents Jim and Marie Huffman, and Roscoe Pauley and Dessie Pauley Johnson.

He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitter’s Local 625.  He served in the West Virginia Air National Guard and was a 1970 graduate of Duval High School.

He is survived by his daughter, Nissa Rhea Pauley; father, Asa; brother, Jeff (Barbara) Pauley, nieces and nephews Zack (Joyce) Pauley and Christian Pauley (Danielle), Gabe, Makayla, Jozelyn, and Silas Pauley.

A memorial service to celebrate Rod’s life will be 8:00am Wednesday morning May 31, 2017 at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.

Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  It is requested that you wear casual or work clothes.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, please be respectful of our wishes and make donations to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311.

Green photoMiriam Green, 73, of Alum Creek formerly of Harrisburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 18, 2017 at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Miriam had made her home in Alum Creek  with her daughter, Tammy Blankenship the last 8 years.

She was a nurse working in assisted living while living in Arkansas.

Miriam was a loving mother, caring for her family and others and was a faithful Christian.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Stouffer; and two brothers, George and Joey Stouffer.

She is survived by three children, Ron (Chris) Green of Lancaster, Pa., Tammy (Kip) Blankenship of Alum Creek and Robert Sr. (Tara) Green; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Jeff, Clifton Lee, Travis, Bob Jr., and Tyler; and six great grandchildren, Brice, Paige, Laci Mae, Aubree, Olivia and Pazlee; and two brothers, Harold and Jerry.

Service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 21,  at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.    Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Cemetery in Alum Creek.    The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Helen GoodeHelen Marie Goode, 92 of Tullahoma, TN formerly of St. Albans, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Goode; father, Lemie Hill; mother, Emily Strickler Hill; and brother, Rex Hill.

She is survived by her children, Daniel Goode (Julie) of Tullahoma, TN, Ronald Goode of St. Albans, and Allen Goode (Jo Ann) of Charleston; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchlidren.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in South Charleston with Minister Louis Watts officiating. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek.
