I met Lee in group at the VA and he was around 67. I’m so glad I got to know him, he was such a great person with all the things he has done in his life ? the world will be a much darker place without him.

Lee Stevens was a man of the world. From Vietnam to the Red Robin in Williamson to New York City to Nashville to East Kentucky and stops in between, Lee Stevens lived, gardened, swarped and left a trail of friends who will long remember his love of music and his ability to swing a hammer, grow tomatoes, peppers and herb. He taught me how to paint and cook on a job atop Pine Mountain and other valuable lessons. I knew him as the “Road Hogg,” as his poet friend Jim Webb called him. I’m a better person for knowing Lee’s kindness and generosity. Farewell, Road Hogg—you were a true human bean who taught us the world was bigger than these mountains. It will feel smaller without you.
