Vona Gail Adkins, 64, of St. Albans passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at CAMC General Division after a short illness.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Ross Hartwell.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by:

She was a loving mother & Grandmother.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 14, 2006 with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in French Cemetery, Davis Creek. Service is in care of Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek.

Calvin Nathan Hall, Jr.

Calvin Nathan Hall, Jr. of St Albans went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 6, 2006 after a short illness.

He was born August 2, 1923 in Lincoln County, WV, a son of Calvin N. Hall, Sr. and Oma Roberts Hall. He was a shareholder and founder of Hall & Hall CPAs, A.C. in St. Albans where he has served the area in public practice for over 53 years. He was a loyal West Virginia University Mountaineer and an avid outdoorsman. He was an original member of the current St. Andrew United Methodist Church, which he dearly loved as his own family.

He proudly served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theater aboard the LCI 21 Vessel as a Boatswain’s Mate Second class and was awarded the the Purple Heart for service. He was sworn in the Navy on July 4, 1942 at the Keith Albee Theater in Huntington and was discharged on Veteran’s Day in 1945.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Hall McComas, Lura Hall Scites and his children, Emily Hope Hall and Mark Stephen Hall and his grandchildren, Parker Evan Van Tassel and Benjamin Seton Hall.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Wilma Houchins Hall; daughters, Abigail F. Van Tassel and husband, David, Jane A. Foster and husband, Kermit; sons, Calvin N. Hall, III and wife, Rhodanna, and John A. Hall; five grandchildren, Calvin N. Hall, IV, Jared N. Hall, Megan Faith Van Tassel, Andrew D. Van Tassel and Elizabeth Jane Foster.

A celebration of his life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2006 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, with Rev. Loretta Isaiah, Rev. Janet Harman and Rev. Ross Harrison. Burial will be at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. The family will receive friends and family on Friday, September 8, 2006 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Elevator Fund, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, WV 25177 or the United Methodist Layman’s Foundation, in care of Harold Burke, 5312 Nesting Way, Cross Lanes, WV 25313.

Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of arrangements.

Dessie (Keeling) Davisson

Dessie (Keeling) Davisson, 97, died August 31, 2006 in Ironton, Ohio.

She was born June 12, 1909 in Tango, West Virginia to the late W. C. And Margie Hill Keeling. She lived most of her adult life in Ironton, Ohio where she met and married her late husband, Ralph Davisson. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, who raised her, Gertie McClure Keeling; three sisters, Norine Morton, Wynoka Crowder, and Mae Hudson; brothers, Cecil, Clifford, Okey and Asa Keeling.

She belonged to The Franklin Furnace Baptist Church. She was a great lady, sister and friend to all.

Dessie is survived by four sisters, Betty Rabel of Sod and Mary Wallace, Phyllis Rife and Mayme Zirkle all of Sumerco.

Services will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held on Tuesday at the Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, Ohio.

Frankie Lee Satterfield

Frankie Lee Satterfield, 69 of Griffithsville passed away Monday, August 28, 2006 at his home after a long illness.

He was a member of the Yawkey Methodist Church and had 16 years service for Pennzoil Company, Yawkey and was a member of the Teamsters Local 175.

Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Blondie Linkous Satterfield, sister Sylvia Estep, son Kenneth Ray Satterfield and grandson Donald Eugene Baker, III.

His is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie Dent Satterfield; three daughters, Geneva Bell of Griffithsville, Debbie Satterfield of Alum Creek and Sylvia Baker and husband Donald of Hamlin; one son, Jerry Satterfield and wife Kim of Griffithsville; three granddaughters BreAnn, Stacy and Kacey; two grandsons, Justin and Jacob; five sistersl; four brothers and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday August 31, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors Oshel Bell and Dave Callison officiating. Burial will be at the Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Adam Cory Moss

Adam Cory Moss, 27, of South Charleston, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cloyd and Frankie Brua and Shelvie and Macil Moss.

He was a graduate of South Charleston High School.

He is survived by his parents, Wilford and Carolyn Moss; brother, Aaron Moss; sister, Amy Parsons and (Brian) all of South Charleston; nephews, Wyatt and Seth.

Services will held 11:00 AM on Friday, September 1, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Rev. Wayne Rollins officiating. Burial will be held in Brua Family Cemetery, South Charleston. Friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

James Dell Kingrey

James Dell Kingrey, 85, of Alum Creek, Formerly of Yawkey went home to be with the Lord on Friday August 25, 2006.

He was born in Yawkey on August 20, 1921 the son of the late Jehue abd Lura Craddock Kingrey.

Dell was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church at Yawkey for 64 years where he served as a trustee for 24 years. He was also caretaker and trustee of Mays Cemetery since 1954 and retired from Armco Steel/Peabody Coal with 42 years service.

Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Nona Linville, Nina Adams, Martha Hill, Gladys Hamm, Norma Humphrey and brother, Glen Kingrey.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith Vickers Kingrey; two sons, James Michael and wife Sue, Phillip Dell and wife, Dreama all of Alum Creek; three grandchildren, Scottie, Todd and Kristin Kingrey; two great grandchildren, Jamie and Elizabeth Kingrey.

Services will be 1:00 Monday in the Curry Funeral Home Chapel at Alum Creek with Pastors Oshel Bell and Henry Estep officiating. Burial will be in the Mays Cemetery at Yawkey. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Wilma Jean Hughes Jenkins, 50, of Spencer, formerly of Kimberly, went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2006 at the Hubbard Hospice House after a short battle with cancer.

She was born, April 19, 1956, and lived in Eskdale. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Josephine Hughes. She was a graduate of East Bank High School.

She is survived by herloving husband, Ernest Russell Jenkins; daughter, Leslie Jenkins; son, Brandon Jenkins all of Spencer; sisters, Joyce and husband, Leonard Hanshaw of Sissonville, Mary and husband, Roy Gayton of Dupont City; brothers, Howard Estep and wife, Gayle of Greenville, SC, Gary Dunlap and wife, Sharon of McCorkle, Richard Hughes and wife, Janet of Sneads Ferry, NC, Herman and wife, Linda Kay Hughes of Malden, Danny and wife, Lisa Hughes of Sod, Mike and wife, Christy Hughes of Marmet, Paul and wife, Lynn Hughes of Malden, Bobby and wife, Crystal of Chesapeake and numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

John R. DeKnight

John R. DeKnight, Jr. 64 of South Charleston went home to be with the Lord August 15, 2006 at home after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his son, John H. DeKnight; brother, Michael and parents, John and Betty DeKnight.

He was retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education, was an avid C. B. radio operator, went by the handles of JJ or Jersey Jay and was an Army Veteran.

John is survived by his wife: Arizona; four daughters, Katherine Means of Spring Hill, Elizabeth Bailey of Dunbar, Katrina Workman of Cross Lanes, and Diana Chapman of Salt Rock; three sons, Dennis Roberts of Charleston, Danny Kirk Roberts of Huntington and Ernest Lee Roberts of Charleston; brothers, Robert DeKnight, Clyde DeKnight and Charles DeKnight all of New Jersey and Phillip DeKnight of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Sina and Heidi both of New Jersey; 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 18, 2006 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Rev. Paris Workman officiating. Burial will be at the Orchard Hill Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
