Lyda L. Lewis

Lyda L. Lewis, 88, of Huntington formerly of Peytona, went to be with the Lord Wednesday March 14, 2007 after a long illness.

She was born at Olcott, West Virginia and was preceded in death by her husband Harold Lewis, parents William and Stella Williams.

She is survived by her:  5 Daughters;  Judith Diane Cooper of Thousand Oaks, California; Gwendolyn Sue Blackwell of Charleston, WV; Lynn Ellen Jarrell of Huntington, WV; Sondra Kay Jarrell (Gary) of Hamilton, Montana

Stephanie Jean “Pixie” Pauley (David) of Ashford, WV.  10 Grandchildren:  Avis Maria Schaefer, Charles Edward Blackwell II, Harold Brian Blackwell, Leigh Ann Blackwell, Charles Strickland Jarrell II, Carter Strickland Jarrell, Joshua Lewis Jarrell, Whitney Shaun Jarrell, Sara Renee Pauley, and Justin David Pauley;  7 Great Grandchildren: Jaqui Schaefer, Alex Schaefer, Nicholas Schaefer, Logan Myers, Jacob and Conner Jarrell, and Abigail Dotson.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March18, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Rev. Fairly McCormick officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Memorial Park So. Charleston. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

David Lee Abbott

David Lee Abbott, 50, of Alum Creek died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at home.

He was a lifelong resident of Alum Creek and a construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth & Maza Abbott.

He is survived by:  2 Daughters: Danielle Thompson and Chasity Sigmon; 1 Son: Kenneth Abbott; 1 Sister: Charlotte Early; and 5 Grandchildren; 2 nieces: Christina Hughes & Amanda Allen.  David also had many friends who will miss him greatly.

Service will be 4:00 PM Friday, March 16, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastors Frank Chapman & Jackie Miller officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens,, Yawkey. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kelly L. Holder

Kelly L. Holder, 35, of Alum Creek, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Huntington Hospice House, after a long illness.

He was a member of the Gateway Church of Christ, St. Albans, a maintenance supervisor for Tasty Blends Foods, and a member of the IBEW Local 466 in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife: Lori; Parents: Richard and Carol Holder of Alum Creek; Brothers: Allen of Alum Creek; Craig of Reading, CA; and Paternal grandmother: Elizabeth Defibaugh.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the Gateway Church of Christ, 422 B Street, St. Albans, with Ministers Kim Matthews and David Stauffer officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek.

Friends may call on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Michael T. “Nummie” Oxley

Michael T. “Nummie” Oxley 42, of Charleston died suddenly Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at home.

He attended Duval High School. He loved all sports and played football in elementary & high school.

He is survived by his mother & father: Doris & Ed Oxley; Brother: Lannie & his wife Stephanie; Niece: Jessica Oxley; and Special dog: Rocky

Michael will be missed by all including his buddies he worked with.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 9, 2007 at the Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Robert “Butch” Leadman officiating. Burial will be in Sansom Cemetery at Griffithsville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home

Sylvia Lena McCoy Webb

Sylvia Lena McCoy Webb, 86, of Walton, died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Walton Inn, Inc. after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Webb and son, Sidney Brown.

She was retired from the C&R Collection Agency, Charleston, and was a member of the Ruth Community Church.

She is survived by:  Daughter: Mary Carrier of Ruth;  Son: Robert Brown of Elkview

7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Dennis G. “Rusty” Pauley

Dennis G. “Rusty” Pauley, 48, of Hurricane, died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, William Rocky Pauley.

Rusty was an unique and special person. He was an avid fisherman and conservationist who dearly loved and appreciated all of God’s outdoors.

He is survived by his daughters, Amanda and Tara Beth Pauley both of St. Albans; mother, Margaret Madden of Hurricane; father and step-mother, William and Pearlene Pauley of Monterville; longtime companion and sweetheart, Carol Powers; sisters, Jacqueline Byrd of Hurricane; Twila La Barr of Nashville, TN; brothers, Mark of Hurricane and Brian of South Charleston; grandsons, Blake and Brennan Sanders of St. Albans and many nieces and nephews that adored him.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be held in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Millie Ann Dunlap

Our loss is Heaven’s gain, Millie Ann Dunlap, 95, of Sod went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Sunbridge of Putnam after a long illness.

She was one of the oldest members of McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church, a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Lincoln County.

She was the daughter of the late Austin & Liza Jane Smith and also preceded in death by her

husband, Ercel; son, Mack McClure; and daughter, Ganava Jenny Hughes.

She is survived by:  2 Daughters: Wilma L. Teel & Trilby Baumgartner both of Scott Depot

1 Son: Jacky Dunlap & wife, Charlene, of Sod

11 Grandchildren: Shawn Pauley (Kim), Kimberly Brown, Gigi Bayes (Sam), Jonathan Taylor (Annette), Cynthia Heiser, Mark Taylor (Elizabeth), Paula Matthews (Brett), Jason Dunlap (Lorie) & Eugene, Brenda & Debbie McClure  and 12 Great Grandchildren  and 11 Great Great Grandchildren.

Millie was greatly loved and will be missed by her family & many friends.

Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Roe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 -8 PM at the funeral home.

Olive V. Pauley Banks

Olive V. Pauley Banks 78 of Alum Creek went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 10, 2007 at her daughters home in Harrisville WV surrounded by her loving family and caregiver, Sheila Seth, afer a long illness.

Olive was born Oct. 7, 1928 the daughter of the late Talmadge & Mayme Pauley. She was a homemaker and mother of five children whom she loved dearly. She was a Baptist by faith and fulfilled the scripture in Second Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course and most of all I have kept the faith.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Randolph Banks, daughter Nancy Smith, Grand daughter Misty Rock, four Brothers: Edward, Steve, Troy & Paul Pauley, two Sisters: Bernice Neal & Barb Trudell.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Beverly Rivenbark & (Ricky) of Wallace, NC Jackie Hoover & Allen of Harrisville, WV. Two sons: William Rock & wife Hattie and Marion Wayne Banks all of Alum Creek. Sister: Susan Hamilton of Jacksonville, FL

Two Brothers: Ray Pauley of Alum Creek and Bob Pauley of Sod

Four Grand children: Shannon Smith, Jason Roberts, Walasha Newbrough and Marisa Cline.

Eight Great Grandchildren: Hayden, Meittya, Josie, Elijah, Sydney, Zachary, Sierra & Tierra.

The family would like to thank everyone who has helped in so many ways. Friends, loved ones, & neighbors for their visits, cards, phone calls and loving support during this trying time. Manyu thanks to Dr. Levos, Camden Clark Housecalls and Hospice for all their great care and an extra special THANK YOU to Sheila Seth, Caregiver.

Services will be 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Rd., Alum Creek WV with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in the Pauley Family Cemetery at Joe’s Creek . The family will accept friends from 6 to 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
