Jesse H. Temple Jr., 23 of Davis Creek passed away on Saturday, Dec 27, 2008 at home after a short illness.

He was a member of the Davis Creek Volunteer Fire Department with 8 years service.

He is survived by his wife: Jean

Parents: Jesse & Kathy Temple of Davis Creek

Brother: Jonathan Andrew Temple of Davis Creek

2 Sisters: Inez Radcliff of Charleston and Amy Cunningham of Aleppo, PA

and a host of other family & friends who will greatly miss Jesse.

Services will be 1:00 PM  Tuesday, Dec 30, 2008 at the Alum Creek Church of the Nazarene, 1346 Childress Road, with Pastor Gary Hastings officiating.  Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park at So Charleston.  Friends will gather from 6 to 8 PM on Monday at the church.  Curry Funeral Home at Alum Creek is in care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Jesse to the Davis Creek Vol. Fire Dept Firemen’s Fund at Rt 8 Box 401, So Charleston, WV 25309.

Nellie Marie Mitchell

Nellie Marie Mitchell, 65, of Yawkey, born September 28, 1943, departed this life on December 26, 2008 surrounded by her family.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Inis McCallister, as well as, two sisters, Maxine Nunn and Mary Pollard.

She was a member of the Alum Creek Church of Christ, a beloved wife, homemaker, and the most wonderful mother.

Nellie is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Clarence; three sons, Clarence, Jr. (wife, Robin) of Sod, Harold and Adam (girlfriend, April Pauley) all of Yawkey; one daughter, Eve of Yawkey; three grandchildren, James “Shannon” Dunlap (wife, Aimee) of St. Albans, Miranda Marie and Mariah Faith Mitchell, both of Sod; and three great-grandchildren, James, Zoey, and Sophie Dunlap.

She is also survived by four sisters, Thelma Phelps (husband, Leonard), Sylvia Bird (husband, Frank), Erma “Pondy” Welch (husband, Jack), and Sue Griffith (husband, Butch), all of Sod; and three brothers, Bill McCallister (wife, Linda) and Buddy McCallister, both of Griffithsville, and Buck McCallister (wife, Gail) of Sod.  She is also cherished by a host of nieces and nephews.

Nellie was adored by a large family and a multitude of friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with C.B. Keeney and Kim Matthews officiating.  Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.

A private gathering for Clarence and Nellie’s immediate family will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 6:30 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Following the private gathering, extended family and friends may visit the funeral home from 7 to 8:30.

Barry D. McClure

Barry D. McClure, 64, of Sod, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas day at home after a short illness.

He was a parts manager at Leslie Equipment in Cross Lanes and an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy; two sons, Barry McClure (Judi) of Charleston, Matthew McClure (Erin) of Grants, New Mexico, two sisters, Janice Hibbs (David) of Charleston, South Carolina and Andrea Stacy (David) of Mount Hill, North Carolina.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2008, at the South East Church of the Nazarene, 5102 MacCorkle Avenue, Kanawha City, with Pastors Oshel Bell and Ollie Parsons officiating.  Burial will be held in Lively Cemetery, Sod.  A visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Curry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marcel Aline Rhodes

Macel Aline Rhodes, 71, of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at home after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Hancel Pauley and was a retired care giver for the elderly.

She is survived by her two sons, Keith and Tony Hubbard; three sisters, Paulette Reed and Kathy Gillenwater, all of St. Albans, and Mildred Pauley of Spring Hill; two brothers, Gene Pauley of Alum Creek and Charles Pauley of Indiana; three grandchildren, Brandon, Dustin, and Jessica.

Services will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Jerry Cantley officiating.  Burial will be held in Anderson Cemetery, Pine Grove.  Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Helen Lucille Harless, age 89, Nellis, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 22, 2008, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV, surrounded by her family.   She has been A Christian since 1978 and was a member of Mahone Chapel Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents Armour and Annie Adkins, husband Omar P. (Speed) Harless, eight brothers, one sister and three grandchildren..

Carolyn Sue Tudor Nicholas, 62 of Tornado, left this earth peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec 15, 2008 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Carolyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born November 6, 1946 to the late Edgar & Lena Tudor and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at Tornado.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 43 years, Dennis

H. Milton Alley

H. Milton Alley, 83 of Redington Beach, FL formerly of St. Albans, WV died Friday, December 5, 2008 .

Milton was a Marine Corp Veteran of World War ll, 2nd Marine Division.  He was a graduate of Sharples High School and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.  He was a Co-owner of Alley-Casdorph Funeral Home in St. Albans, a 60 year member of the Washington Masonic Lodge #58 AF & AM, American Legion Post 73, and Highlawn Baptist Church in St Albans.  He retired from Largo Municipal Golf Course, Largo, FL in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Moses G & Pauline Caudill Alley, Sister, Geneva Bledsoe and Brother, E. Harold Alley.

He is survived by his loving & Caring wife of 63 years, Betty Coffman Alley

Mary M. “Maggie” Holstein, 67, of Ashford, received her angel wings and went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, December 3, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Nellie Estep, and sister, Enola Morgan.

She attended the Rumble Community Baptist Church and the Dartmont Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her two daughters, D.D. and (Rex) Butcher of Ashford; Gayle and Christi of Martinsburg; one son, Chuckie and (Samantha) Javins of Marion, Virginia; one step-daughter, Kimmy and (Joe) Allen of Greenville, South Carolina; two brothers, Lee and Jinkie Estep both of Ashford; two sisters, Linda Barker and Kathy Legg both of Ashford; eight granddaughters, one great grandson, Critter.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Rumble Community Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Harold officiating.  Burial will be held in the Estep Family Cemetery, Ashford.  Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rumble Community Baptist Church.

Sudie Christine Justice, 62 of Alum Creek passed away Sunday November 30, 2008 at home after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. And Dolly Schultz, sisters Reba Ranauld, Betty Walker and Vonda Price, brother Charles C. Schultz.

She is survived by her sons: Larry “Punkin” (Becky) Thompson, Jr., Frankie (Anita) Thompson, David (Mellisa) Thompson and Ricky “Rat” (Jessica) Thompson. 2 Step-sons, Mark and Chris Thompson. Sister, Alice Mattox, brother Daniel Schultz.

Grandchildren Cody Thompson, Christine Lacy Lee Thompson, Angel Thompson, D.J. and Nick Thompson, Brianna Thompson, Julian and Jadon Thompson, and Brittany Taylor.
