In memory of Sharol E. White, loving father, devoted Christian and member of Left Fork Baptist Church, Alkol, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty G. White; brothers, John, Bernard, Kenneth, and Ed White; sisters, Mary Campbell, Marie Howard, Fannie Hamilton and Glenna E. Schoolcraft.  

He is survived by:  Son: Terry M. White; Daughters: Patricia S. Hollis and Sandra C. Doak; Brothers: Francis E. White, Jr., and Robert White; Sisters: Barbra White, Kathy Lemon and Noreen Adams; Grandchildren: Dan and Chris Strickland; Mike and Michele White; Amanda and Anthony Mace;  and five  Great Grandchildren.  

Memorial service will be at 5:00pm on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Left Fork Baptist Church, Alkol, WV, with Pastor Randell Kinder officiating.

Denver P. Dent, 84 of So Charleston died Thursday, Nov 6, 2008 at home after a sudden illness.

He retired from Union Carbide at So. Charleston after 42 years of service, and was an active member of the Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768 at Alum Creek and was an Army Air Force Veteran of WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Marion and Margaret Loftis Dent and five brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Hazel McCoy Dent

Son: Darrin Dent of Albuquerque, New Mexico

Daughter: Janita (Bill) Adams of Weddington, North Carolina

3 Grand-daughters: Cassie, Gracie and Lexi Adams.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 9, at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman and Danny Huffman officiating. Burial with Military Graveside rites by Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768 will be at Graceland Memorial Park So. Charleston. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Karlene Faye Adkins, 55, of Sod, died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at home after a short illness.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Zuke and Edna Abshire; grandson, Christopher Rhodes; two brothers, Neil and Owen Abshire.  She was a homemaker and a member of McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband: James C.; Daughter: Cheryl Clark of Sod; Son: James O. Adkins of Sod; 3 grandsons: Derek Adkins, Travis Clark and Zackery Adkins and 4 sisters: Elizabeth Adams of Alabama, Rosemary McCallister of Sod, Debra Sue Maurer of Seville, Ohio and Helen Sandlin of South Charleston.

Services will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Roe Smith officiating. Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

James Dell Kingrey, 85, of Alum Creek, Formerly of Yawkey went home to be with the Lord on Friday August 25, 2006.

He was born in Yawkey on August 20, 1921 the son of the late Jehue abd Lura Craddock Kingrey.

Dell was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church at Yawkey for 64 years where he served as a trustee for 24 years. He was also caretaker and trustee of Mays Cemetery since 1954 and retired from Armco Steel/Peabody Coal with 42 years service.

Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Nona Linville, Nina Adams, Martha Hill, Gladys Hamm, Norma Humphrey and brother, Glen Kingrey.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith Vickers Kingrey; two sons, James Michael and wife Sue, Phillip Dell and wife, Dreama all of Alum Creek; three grandchildren, Scottie, Todd and Kristin Kingrey; two great grandchildren, Jamie and Elizabeth Kingrey.

Services will be 1:00 Monday in the Curry Funeral Home Chapel at Alum Creek with Pastors Oshel Bell and Henry Estep officiating. Burial will be in the Mays Cemetery at Yawkey. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Carroll Louise Isaacs Tackett, 69, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at home after an apparent heart attack.

She was the oldest child of Cleston & Maxine Adams; a 1955 graduate of Duval High School; a former loan officer at Kanawha Valley Bank in Charleston with 12 years service & a Kindergarten Instructor for 20 years in Lincoln County. She was a Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Tackett.

Arl Wilson Pauley, Jr., 66, of Alum Creek, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2006 at home after a very long illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arl W. Pauley, Sr.; mother, Freda Pauley Knuckles; sister, Annie “Pat” Clark and brothers, Raymond Lee and Robert Michael Pauley.

He was a self-employed construction worker.

He is survived by his sons, Arl Pauley, III and wife, Carolyn of Charleston, Wayne Pauley of Manchester, KY, Bryan Pauley of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Lisa Wagner and husband, Steve of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Brad Pauley, Kimberly Adams-Fontenot and husband, Jason, Natasha Adams, Tyler Humphrey-Pauley; great grandchildren, Autumn and John Adams; former wife, Doris Jean Pauley; 10 nephews and 12 nieces.

Family are invited to attend a service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the family home place.

Norma Lea Kingrey Humphry, 77, of Yawkey, departed this life on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston.

She had been a Christian since the age of ten, and was a member of Amy Baptist Church, Yawkey, where she served as a pianist for thirty-eight years.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; sisters: Nona Linville, Nina Adams, Martha Hill, Gladys Hamm; brother, Glen Kingrey.

She is survived by her brother, Dell Kingrey of Alum Creek, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 21, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastors Forrest Curry and Robert Leadman officiating.  Burial will be held at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Ernest Justice, 72, of Sod, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 after a short illness.

He was retired from the Laborers Local 1353, a member of the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and Beni Kedem.

Burial with Masonic graveside rites conducted by the Griffithsville Lodge will be held in Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Ted Tackett, 65, of Sod, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 29, 2002.

He was a member of the Griffithsville Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife Erma Lee Williams; his father Kelley Tackett; and infant son, Everett.
He was a US Navy veteran, served two tours as aircraft transport specialist on the carrier U.S.S. Kearsarge. He also served as flight engineer in various squadrons of military air transport service based in Guam, Hawaii and San Diego during the 1950s.

He was retired from General Electric, Charleston Division with 33 years as an industrial motor repairman and was also a certified welder. He served as a local official in the International Union of Electrical Workers during the 1970s.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Joey Dunlap; son and daughter-in-law, Teddy Jr. and Cheryl Tackett; step-son, John Isaacs; mother, Athelene Tackett; mother-in-law, Maxine Adams; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Mike Kingrey, Judy and Tom Quintrell; brother-in-law, Earl Williams; four grandchildren, Ben Smith and family, Carissa Barnett and family, Seth and Bailey Tackett; two great-grandsons, Andy Smith and Evan Barnett; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Ministers Murrel McKinney, Gerald Watts, Earl Williams and song leader, Minister Kim Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Hayzlett Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Ralph T. Pauley, 71 of Sod, died Thursday, May 3, 2001 at home after a long illness.

He was a member and former president of Painters Local #970 with 37 years, a member and former trustee of Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod, a member of the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge #71 and was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Pauley.

He is survived by his: Wife of 45 years: Marsha; 2 Daughters and Son-in-law: Elynn Wood of Denver, CO; Jill and Dana Snyder of Griffithsville, WV; 3 Sons and Daughter-in-law: Christopher Ralph, Joey Dell and Orla, James Scott all of Sod, WV; 5 Grandchildren: Luke Wood, Suzanne Blount, Jett Pauley, Colton Snyder, Annie Grace Pauley 3 Sisters: Vivian Pauley and June Dunlap both of Teays Valley, WV; Margurite Adams of Sod, WV; 1 Brother: Lyle Pauley of Salem, VA; Loving Caregiver: Jean Dillon.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Sunday, May 6, 2001 at 2 PM with Pastor Phil Suiter and Pastor Chester Bird officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Rites given by the Alum Creek VFW Post #4768 will be held at Pauley Cemetery, Joe’s Creek. Friends may call on Saturday, May 5, 2001 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
