Barry WhittenBarry Lewis Whitten was born November 2, 1942 and met his Heavenly Father Sunday, January 18, 2015.

Barry was a long-term resident of Woodville, WV, where he was owner and operator of Whitten’s Feed and Seed for 55 years; and a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodville.  He was born and raised in Lincoln County and graduated from Duval High School.

Barry was one of five children born to the late Kenneth Whitten and surviving mother, Hazel Whitten and he was the beloved husband of Chiquita Whitten for over 24 years. He will be forever remembered by his children, Leah Whitten, Barry Franklin (Lori) Whitten, Deah (Rusty) Allen, and stepson, Harold Lee (Heather) Hughes; treasured grandchildren, Zack and Dakota Whitten, Cassidy, Tori and Maci Allen and Eli Hughes; brothers, Roger, Ronald (Katherine) and Donald (Charlotte) Whitten; along with countless friends and family who were blessed to know him.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, January 22, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Dwight McClure officiating.  Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

Violet June Pauley (Baisden)

Violet June Pauley (Baisden) passed away January 11, 2015 in North Royalton, OH.

Beloved wife of James; loving mother of Jim and Tim(Nicole); sister of Katherine Blevins and the late Kenneth,  Alfred and Lewis Baisden and Nell Jean Marcum and Mary Lou Fowler; grandmother of Tyler and Mitchell Pauley.

Visitation at Babitt Funeral Home, North Royalton, OH, will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM.  Funeral service will be held Saturday January 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek, WV, with Pastor John Hatfield and Barry Baisden officiating. Burial will follow at Forks of  Coal Memorial Park.

Family and friends will gather 1 hour prior to the service.

Belinda M. Dunlap Smith

Belinda SmithBelinda M. Dunlap Smith, 44, of Pine Grove, Sumerco, went home to be with the Lord at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston,  E.R. after an apparent heart attack.

She was a Christian and attended Eden Baptist Church. She loved God, her family and friends.

She was preceded in death her parents,  Billy and Betty Dunlap.

She is survived by her husband of eighteen years, Chris; sister, Alice (Barry) Meadows; brothers, Billy (Susan) Dunlap, Frederick (Nancy) Dunlap, Alvie (Mary) Dunlap; nephews, Mike, Chris, and Riley; niece, Amanda; great niece, Kynzleigh and great nephew, Justin.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, January 11, 2015  at Curry Funeral Home,  2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors Rick Cooper and Butch Brogan officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery.  Family and Friends will gather one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made towards funeral expenses.

Harold Rodger Vickers

Harold Rodger Vickers, 63, of Ravenswood, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston.

He is predeceased by his father, Harold;  and his grandparents, Herbert and Arizona Price and Willie and Jerusia Vickers.

He served in the US Navy during Vietnam on the USS Hancock (CV-19).

He is survived by his mother, Marie;  two brothers, Bruce Wayne and wife, Frankie,  and Bobby; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Jimmy Lawrence officiating.  Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey with military graveside rites conducted  by the Madison VFW Post.  The family will receive friends 1 ½ hours prior to the service.

Linda Jo Perdue Cain

Linda CainLinda Jo Perdue Cain, died on January 5, 2015, and on angels wings she left the pain and suffering of this earth for the peace of Heaven in the arms of her Lord.

Born July 22, 1941, she was the second daughter of Hyla and Raymond Perdue of Dartmont, Boone County.  She lived most of her life in West Virginia, except for over 20 years she lived in Hickory, North Carolina.  Having moved back 2 years ago to take care of her dying sister.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carolyn Williams; brothers, Donnie, Terry, Jimmie and Mutt Perdue.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Cain; daughters, Sherri (Jerry) Ryder of Kanawha City, Vicki (Armando) Diaz and their daughter, Isabella of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sons, Scotty (Tracy) Perdue and their daughter, Kayla of South Carolina, Sean (Kathy) Perdue of Nellis, Shannon Cain and Stevie Barker of Nellis. and Ricky (Tammy) Byrd  of St. Albans and their children, Ricky, Jonathan, Sara Elizabeth, Caleb and Hart; sisters, Becky Kirk, Darlene (Freddie) Long and Glenna (Teddy) Graley; brothers, Rondy (Teresa) Perdue, Bob and Darcy Perdue; brothers-in-law, Bob, Billy (Sharon) and Stevie (Carolyn) Cain; sisters-in-law, Jean Perdue and Jean Morris; great grandchildren, Emaleigh, Madison and Mason; several nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends, especially her church family from the Rumble Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Dartmont Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Harold officiating.  Burial will follow at the Holstein Cemetery,  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

David Lee Kinder

David KinderDavid Lee Kinder, 56, of Charleston passed Thursday, January 1, 2015 at home.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Kinder, and longtime companion, Sandy Chadwell.

David is survived by twin sons, James and Davidde; son, Mark Allen; daughters, Christina and Paris; father, David (Joy) Kinder; sister, Laura Stanley; brother, Jimmy; 10 grandchildren and niece, Sarah Stanley.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 6 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Dwight McClure officiating.  Burial will follow at Estep-Kinder Cemetery, Ridgeview.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Doris Ann Debord

Doris DebordDoris Ann DeBord, 85, of Charleston, W.Va., passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, and was reunited in Heaven with her husband, Perry Bryce DeBord.

She was born September 11, 1929, in Charleston and was the daughter of Elmer and Edna Bailey. Her love for God was the backbone of her life. She was a faithful member of South Charleston First Church of the Nazarene, where she served as treasurer of MISMA Adult Ministries and on the Women’s Benevolence Committee. Doris played girls basketball at South Charleston High School, and her love of sports continued for her entire life. One of her great joys was supporting George Washington High School sports, especially the football team. Her children and many of her grandchildren participated in sports and other activities at GW. Doris also supported the school band and attended majorette festivals for many years. She loved GW and attended almost every football game until about two years ago. She also started DeBord Services, an accounting firm, where she worked for more than 50 years.

She will be dearly missed by her two sisters, Wanda Vanhoose and Debbie Shaffer; her son, Perry DeBord; and her daughters, Karen Williams (husband Reed), Yvonne Snyder (husband David), Barbara McCormick (husband Rick) and Angie Millican (husband Rance). Her adoring grandchildren are Reed Williams, Matt Williams, Ruth Williams and Katie Desbrow; Andrea Anderson, Amy Edwards, Joshua Snyder and Johnathan Snyder; Christine DeBord and Will DeBord; Chelse Ward; Kara Walker, Katie Walker and Zachary Agnew. She also enjoyed her 16 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, W.Va. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 5, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 4923 Kentucky Street, South Charleston, with Pastor Kent Estep officiating.  Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Barbara Fay Payne

Barbara Fay Payne, 84, of Woodville, died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Danville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dewey (Bus) Payne, and children Sampie, Lonnie Willis, Chuck and Phyllis.

She is survived by her daughter, Lilly Payne, Danville; sons, Johnny (Kathy) Payne, Newton Falls, OH; Rocky (Regina) Payne, Danville; and Daniel (Loria) Payne, Sod; brother, Wootson Jennings Miller, Jr.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Services will be held 1:00pm on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, WV with Pastor David Sperry officiating.   Burial will follow at Lively Cemetery, Sod.  Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions toward funeral expenses.

Helen G. McClure, 75, of Yawkey, born March 7, 1939 passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at home surrounded by loved ones.

She was a member of the Alum Creek Church of Christ;  and  a school teacher in Boone County for 36 years, touching and inspiring many lives throughout her career.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 6 brothers and sisters.

Helen is survived by her husband of 58 years, Marvin McClure; daughters, Sharee  (Kevin) Daniels of Yawkey, Tammy (Joseph) Vickers of Alkol, Jill (Keith) Craig of Yawkey and Elizabeth McClure of Tornado; Bruce (Kim)  Cook of Teays Valley; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; sisters, Doris (Roger) Escue and Barbara Ruby both of Sod.  She was loved and will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, December  30th, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Ministers Kim Matthews and Joseph Watts.   Burial will follow at McClure Family Cemetery, Yawkey.  The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service.

 

Carl Wayne Clinton

Carl Clinton

 

Carl Wayne Clinton, 49, of South Charleston, died on Christmas Day at the home of his sister, Lora Walker, after a heart episode.

He was a graduate of South Charleston High School.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, Nile Clinton, Sr., and brother, Jimmy Clinton.

He is survived by his mother, Lora Mae Clinton; sisters, Teresa Andrews and Lora K. (Bobby) Walker; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be 12 Noon, Monday, December 29th at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Chaplain Jim Burgess officiating.   Burial will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.   The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
