James Clyde McCormick, 93, of Alkol went home Thursday, September 14, 2017.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. Clyde was also a member of the Morrisvale Missionary Baptist Church, an avid coon hunter and a friend to all.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Kin and Vina McCormick; brothers, Harold, Tommy, Buster and Mink; sons, Norman Kyle and James Darrell McCormick; grandsons, Dwayne and Dwight McCormick; great grandchildren, Kaylee Fowler, Angela Sharps and Jobean Lipscomb.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Elsie Loftis McCormick and they were recognized as the longest married couple in the great state of West Virginia for the year 2017; children, Patsy McCormick, Denzil (Debbie) McCormick, Glennis (Johnny) Lipscomb, Clifford (Michele) McCormick, and Donna McCormick and her son, Christopher, who was Clyde’s partner in crime and Christopher’s wife, Ashley, who was Clyde’s personal mechanic; daughter-in-law, Carol McCormick; brother, Delmer (Betty) McCormick; sister, Betty Jo Campbell; additional grandchildren Elizabeth, Rebecca, Tammy, Teresa, Michele, Eric, Mindy, Myranda, Brandy, Kasey, Kayla, and Allison; 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Curry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Butch Loftis officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
