Brookie A. Terlikowski

January 3rd, 2018 | Posted by curryfuneralhome in Obituaries

Brookie A. Terlikowski, 42, of Yawkey.

Brooke was stubbornly alive. More alive than most. She was always laughing the loudest, telling stories and sharing some (very) honest opinions, During her long-fought battle with cancer, she was more stubborn and more alive than ever. Over and over, she was told, “There’s no way,” and over and over, she responded, “There is. I’ll show you.”

Even now, after passing at her home on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, she is still living. She is in the feet and hips of her granddaughter, who learned to dance like Naunie. She is in the heart of her husband, tending to the flowers she grew there. She lives in the soft resilience of her daughters, the hard-working hands and humor of her son.

Brooke dealt in a specific, rare version of love. To be loved by her meant to learn to love others better. Whether it was at Sumerco Church of God, where she lent her strength and prayed for others, or at the Alum Creek Pharmacy, where she spent countless hours being a mother and a friend to all of Lincoln County, Brooke always spread love. Feel the ground, breathe the air, remember her smile. The love that is Brooke is there, clinging, stubbornly.

She was predeceased by her father, Dwayne “Pete” Adkins, and sisters, Stephanie and Nikki Adkins.

Brooke is survived by her husband, Scott Terlikowski; three children, Levi, Lindsay and Carly Terlikowski; daughter-in-law, Shelby Terlikowski; and her feisty granddaughter, Avery Jade. Her same, strong spirit runs through her parents, Johnny and Diane McNeely and sisters, Crystal Lovejoy and Misty Price. She is also survived by siblings, Dwayne (Chunk) Adkins, Brian Adkins, Timmy Adkins, Sherri Richmond and Carri Wood; and touched many other family members and friends, all of whom cannot wait to see her again and will be watching for cardinals until then.

Service will be 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Richard McCallister officiating. Following the service a fellowship meal will be held at the Sumerco Church of God.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

I am so sorry for the pain you have dealt with. I know Brookie fought this cancer so hard for so long. It has no doubt been a very rough road for the whole family. I just wanted to say that when I have dealt with losing my loved ones, lots of prayer has really helped. I wanted also to share some Bible verses that have really helped me.

Isaiah 25:8
John 11:25
John 5:28, 29
Acts 24:15
Revelation 21:3,4

I’m so sorry for your pain. But we can feel blessed to have had our loved ones with us.

I first met this amazing family when we were in Pittsburgh with my husband. ..I have never met a more living person than Brookie!! They didn’t even know us and helped pay for part of our lodging when were at the Family house with them…I will miss her loving post and her extreme Faith in the Lord!! You have truly earned you Princess crown and are truly pain free and are more beautiful (if that could be possible ) then you were here!! Rest in peace my dear friend ! I will continue to keep your family in my prayers! !

I first met Brookie through her grandmother who was over the NF foundation which our daughter, Mechelle was born with. From the very first day we met the family, we had never met so much love and devotion from a family. From her grandmother, her aunts, uncles, mother and even or down to Brookie and her husband and children, there were always so much love and compassion given by them all. They always gave so freely and never expected nothing back in return. I can remember how I would cry and worry and wonder why people had to suffer and walk through rough times, but they would always comfort and still give as if nothing mattered, just love. I know you could search far and wide and you would never find anyone with as much love and compassion that walked through so much pain herself, but never complained, just smiled….and LOVED…AND LOVED…AND LOVED..I have learned a lot from Brookie and that is that…LOVE does take us a lot farther than what we think we can go….because she will always be in our hearts forever….You are loved and will be sadly missed…Thanks for showing what true love and compassion is.
