James Alvin Sigmon

James A.SigmonJames Alvin Sigmon, 54, of South Charleston passed away at home on Monday, July 6, 2015 after a short illness.

He was an employee of the City of Charleston Public Works Department.  He served in the U. S. Navy.  James was on the Unit Comission for the Boy Scouts of America and  served as a troop leader for Troop 13 at Alum Creek and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

James is survived by his wife, Monica; son, David Sigmon; stepdaughter, Suzanna Ruth; brothers, Bobby, Eddie and Jack; sisters, Violet, Mary, Patty, Cindy and Ada; mother-in-law, Jewel Asbury; and 2 grandsons.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight McClure officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Buckskin Council, BSA, 2829 Kanawha Blvd. East, Charleston, WV  25311.

I am so sorry to hear the loss of an Uncle. I may not have known him, but he is still my father’s brother. May he rest in peace and may his family have comfort and strength during this time.
