Charles Frank Adkins

 Charles Frank Adkins, 96, of Alkol went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Frank was born March 23, 1916 to his parents, Charlie and Della Adkins Harless. He was also preceded in death by his children’s mother, Hazel Smith Adkins; son, Delain Adkins; wives, Beulah Cummings Adkins, Sarah Richmond Adkins; and step-father, Tom Harless;

He was a member of New Bethel Church in Spurlocksville; he enjoyed his family, farming and singing in the choir. He resided in Frank Fork Holler 96 years and now he’s singing in the heavenly choir.

Frank was one of the oldest WWII Army Veterans in Lincoln County. He was a military policeman and served in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign; a member of the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. He retired from Saul Construction and also worked at Black’s Grocery in Danville.

He is survived by two sons, Charles (Linda) and Dwight (Peggy) Adkins; daughter, Brenda Smith Adkins all of Alkol. Twelve grandchildren Dawn (Virgil) White, Fawn (Robert) Ellis, Shawn (Mary) Adkins, Craig and Jason Adkins; Beth, Kristin, Bryant (Tammy) and Kevin (Carol) Smith; Scotty, Stacy and Jenny Adkins. Twenty great grandchildren: Kasey and Tyler White, Haylie and Maggie Ellis, Elijah and Paislee, Adkins; Brady, Brittany, Zach, Kobe and Savannah Smith; Shanelle, Clarissa, Caleb and Devin Adkins; Brittany Cooper and Kimberly Rawsley; Nathan, Jenna and Tristen, and one great great grandson on the way. He will be missed and loved by a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor K. D. Bragg officiating. Burial will follow in Bear Branch Cemetery

with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

We love and miss you Poppaw Frank you will always be in our hearts and memories forever, Your having the best time of you life right now in heaven with God. We will always tell our children and there children about you and how strong of a man you was and what a long happy life you lived, as for myself I was a grand daughter in law but you were just like my own poppaw and im so thankful for the 14 yrs I got to know and be around you, with love and prayers to all the families Shawn Mary Elijah and Paislee Adkins
