Jantet Pauley

Janet Pauley, 74, of Sod, went home peacefully to meet the Lord, Sunday, March 15, 2009 at home after a long illness.  She was a graduate of Scott High School where she was head tumbler, she also was responsible for the passing of the Pauley vs. Bailey Recht’s Decision which found that the state’s public schools failed to meet the “thorough and efficient” standard demanded by the WV Constitution, Janet also was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her first husband of 41 years D. Thurman Pauley.

She is survived by her husband John Butler; sons, Terry G. Pauley of Orange County, California, Larry Ray Pauley of Roanoke, Virginia, Gary Lee Pauley of Alum Creek, Duane Pauley of Seattle, Washington, and Delbert Thurman Pauley, Jr. of St. Albans; grandchildren,: Anita, Garrett, Ryan, Adriana and Tommy; sister, Wilma Massie of Mississippi.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Butch Brogan officiating. Burial will be at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens at Yawkey. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
